  • I have never made fondant but after watching your video I think i want to give it a try. Can you add flavor to fondant? and if not do you think that using flavored marshmellows is a good idea?? In oklahoma they sell marshmallows in strawberry & French vanilla flavor.. Do you think that it will have an effect on the texture?

  • @moonncat I agree. I'm over 50 and a video made by a 14 year old is teaching me how to make fondant. I'm really impressed. I don't care about the watch (I won't be wearing one), the music (I have my own) or the spelling (it doesn't change the process or taste). Great job and thank you!!

  • @MOMSIPOOH Thank you! I was 14 at the time and i forgot to take the watch off and i was rushing to finish the movie so i didn't even care about spelling. I'm glad it helped!

  • @aznbeauty17 I am no genius though I am guess ing that if they are using 1lb of marshmallows and 2 lb of powdered sugar it is going to make 3lb of fondant.

  • You can also use trex-it's another White shortening product. Do not use margarine!

  • @RobinRose we don't have it in England we use stork , which is like vegetable fat

  • @thisiztiah You can melt them on your stovetop, keep an eye on them so they don't burn, you'll want to stir them.

    It's fat, but the all the water taking out of it. That give you 100% pure fat.

  • @93princess40 the marshmellows do not need anything to melt, but you can put some water in there and it will help them melt a little more consistent and faster. He just greased the bowl with the crisco then later in the video added some more crisco to the fondant so that it does not get dry and crack.

  • At bluekissheart I read other peoples comments saying you can substitute it for unsalted butter. You can go on google and search for other things you can use.

  • @Sasabitch18 When i take it out, i usually mix in the sugar with a big spoon and as it gets harder to stir, i take it out and hand knead it with some gloves. It should be cool by then

  • i´ve heard that it´s better to use gel food coloring in fondant than liquid but, can I color the marshmellows before melting and after making all the fondant???

  • @rhonda1304 not before you melt the marshmellows i don't think because it's still in that frim stage from when you bought them. after you melt them is ok though

  • @rhonda1304 I understood. fondant doesn't really matter if you use gell or liquid in my opinion because if you add a little bit of the liquid to the fondant it's still going to be stiff and pliable. But if you add it to icing, it's a bit more "sensitive" to liquids because it's more runnier and spreadable if you get what i mean by that

  • Just for all the British people, I went to Wikipedia for you. Try Cookeen instead of Crisco. I make no guarantees, of course, since I've never even seen that product.

    Crisco is just a common brand. What he's using is a product called "shortening". It doesn't have to be Crisco.

  • @LNiaa you need to add food coloring then work it together you can add it with the marshmallows but i wouldn't i would add if once its done then split it into how many different colors you want it to be in and food colour them and work each one until its fully incorporated to each thats about it

  • good video, except you don't say how long in the microwave.. I notice you put it in the microwave 2 times. for how long? How long of a time to knead the marsh mellow till it is ready. When you put it on the counter, do you grease the counter first or just put the mix on top of it? Thanks
