  • Hello Brian, Awhile back you did a video for back lighting with a white double scrim, and the shadowing it caused, and you solved it using micro washes. Could you possibly make a video showing how to correct this when using a ADJ Mega Par Profile? Thanks, Cheers

  • Turbo sound speakers? powered milan M15 how do u feel about them? are they good worth the money? or should I just go with the eon 515?

  • Can you please explain what the rules are for using lasers in different gigs?

    Thank you,

    flh

  • Hey guys, I have a question:

    Which one is worth getting?

The Micro wash LED or the Mega Par Profile (in sets of 2)

In terms mainly of Brightness. Thanks!

  • Hello Brian, Jelly Fish Question 2. When you Master Slave these lights together as you do under the speakers. I understand the hook ups by a DMX cable. What is the setting for these lights, like you have in your Jelly Fish video the lights seem as if they work opposite. like one is going left to right and the other is right to left sweep, Thanks...Cheers

  • Yo Brian,I purchases a ADJ micro star, what is the proper angle and height not to damage the eyes?

  • Hello Brian, Didnt see this ask questions area till after I sent you a messege lol...I just bought the Jelly Fish light, and from seeing your video that had 1 on each speaker stand might get another one. My question please is. How do you clamp the fish to your speaker stand below your speakers? Also I notice the lights seem to work together but the lights go opposite, are they on sound active and how do they work together? Thanks Cheers Rob

  • @plumeref1975 Brian has a video on how to do this, with a simple O-Clamp. To make them do opposite, what you do is connect them with a DMX cable, and then invert one of them on the LED menu.

  • Comment removed

  • @DjBrad4000 Thanks for that about the inverted jelly fish I assume by inverted you mean turn one of them basically upside down?...I see your mega par question below I just got the mega pars, and they seem to be better then the micro washes

  • @plumeref1975 No not really...when I say inverted, I mean in some DMX lights, there is a setting in the LCD menu to invert the function of the light. For example, I have a pair of Chauvet Sweeper's. There are 6 LED pods on the sweeper. When they are in master slave, what I do is invert one of the sweepers. This means that if POD 1 was "on" on sweeper 1, POD 6 would be "on" on sweeper 2. Im not sure if the jellyfish has a setting like this, since it has 7 lenses. Putting it upside-down would work

  • Comment removed

  • @DjBrad4000 Ok thanks, ya I just turned the one upside down lol no one will know, well except you lol. Thanks again...Oh did you figure on the Mega Pars over the Micro Washes? I'm quite happy with my Megas.

  • Hey Brian, a quick question I have off of one of your video tutorials on ADJ about what kind of amp I should get.

    I currently have:

    2 - Peavery Scorpion SP5x (700W Program @ 8 ohms)

    2 - Yamaha S12ME (250W Program @ 8ohms)

    2- JBL JRX115 (250W Program @ 8ohms)

What should be the power ratings and/or ohms that I should look for so that I can get a single power amplifier to power all 6 of these speakers to their capabilities?

  • Hi i have been a bedroom dj for a while and want to start doing mobile gigs. I was wondering what do you think would be a good lighting setup for a beginner some where around $1000 or less

  • @bigrileymonster For $1000 just get something like the ADJ com-scan LED system, it comes with 2 scanners and a UC3 controller. That might be what your looking for, but you can't get too much for $1000

  • @cjpenton Also...I'm interested in a computer based DMX program, but since I use my computer for my music media library, will the dmx software run in the background or would controlling media output effect the dmx software effictiveness?

  • Comment removed

  • hi, how can i adress a laser to dmx with the dip swithces and remove the audiosensitive feature so it only works with dmx and what tricks you can give me for a good laser show. is there a video for this or is there a possiblility you can make one special for lasers? thanx

  • @johnybravo89 What kind of laser do you have?

  • @djNXgen Hot Laser VIa G

  • Does anyone know the answer to my question?

  • Hey Brian I have a dmx question. Can numerous lights run from a master slave unit? In other words...I have two Chauvet scan LED in master slave configuration (no dmx controller). I just purchased two ADJ scan units and was wondering if placed in series with the Chauvets with dmx cables, will they be controlled as slaves?

  • the Radiation Warnings about not letting the lasers touch your skin or eyes ...

    They Mean Directly ?

Can I use LaserWorld lasers in my room all day for cool looks ??

  • Hi brian, I have Revo iii and Adj Aggressor tri led. I use Revo iii to light the ceiling and aggressor as center lighting, if I want to go for another light, what would be the best choice galaxian 3D or Revo 4 ?

  • @upalikaru Revo 3 and 4 are quite similar, Revo 4 has the square LED designs, so I would go for The Galaxian 3D. Its fantastic!

  • @upalikaru im very new to this so don't trust me lol , but revo 3-4 both are dope but very similar . there is a youtube video with both , the guy said the new low light stuff in the revo4 gets drowned out by the revo3 sometimes, and the galaxy 3d sucks compared to the - Scorpion gbc $800, laserWorld stuff or X-laser Axis , Laser stars & Laser Pod Products $99 , on the cheap side ... but you get what you pay for and some lasers cost $77,000

  • i am new to djing and i was wondering what would be a good lighting effect that has a wide spread coverage and a dmx controller thx

  • @mrservices11 Revo 3-4, and Quad Gem DMX (kinda big), galaxian 3D!

  • Hey brian DJ Willie here NJ . How does one project a monogram using a regular home projector?

  • Hello, I would like to get into "pinspotting" i.e. centerpieces, cake tables and sweetheart tables ect. Wondering if anyone who uses this technique can let me know what kind of pinspots do you use? My local lighting store carries the white ADJ pL spot 1000. Would u recommend this for this application. Also how do you mount them. They obviously need to be very high.

    Thank you

  • @boppydiamond Well depends on what kind of a budget your on. There is nothing wrong with useing regualr 30w 6v pinspots and I know quite a few high end venues that keep a good 100 of them for table spoting purposes. You could Use a regualr T Bar and put it up 3m. That the cheap option. The more expensive option is to use a 3m section of Tri/Box Truss and add a scaff pipe extension to get even more height. or you could just bolt on another section of truss. Then you can Up light the truss to ....

  • @boppydiamond make the truss a feature of the room. If you went with a solid 5m tall Truss tower the nyou could hang heavier items off it as logn as you have enough weight on the bottom. have a look at DirectSound on youtube for more tips and vids on this.

  • @martin0mac2000 Thank you very much that was helpful. How do you feel about LED pinspotting? Any benefits that make the extra cost worth it? The main reason I use LED uplighting (heat) is null for pinspots way up high. Any other reason you would use LED instead?

  • @boppydiamond To me Not really. I would prefer to be able to provide this service at a minimal cost (more attractive t othe client) and then be able to spot up 20 tables, If you were useing LED this would mean Thousands of dollars worth of gear. with the reg ones it would probs be $1-2k inc a couple sections of Vert Trussing and some LED cans to go in them

  • i have a jet laser model#JL-5R and i cant not get to work on my DMX obey 40 controller. It has 12 dip switches on the back of it. the first four switches ,make the for heads stay a solid beam. I want to set them to the first channel but because of the heads i cant set them to the first light on my board. Ive tried putting 10-12 down at the same time as the one but it wont work with my board. i even whent out and bought new DMx cables and not mic cables. Help please and quick!

  • @alecs12222 Ok lets do a bit of problem solveing. Set the Laser to DMX Address 1 and see if it works on your controller. make sure you have "scanner" number 1 selected to be able to control the first 16 DMX channels. If the laser still does not work. Check the user manual for any settings that are required to get the laser into 'DMX' mode. With My LED Washes i have to flick dip switch 10 to get them into DMX Mode and then set the DMX addy with dips 1-9. Hope this Helps.

  • I have a Chauvet stage designer 50 dmx. I am fairly new at dmx but do know how to record scene. I am trying to get them to hit at certain times in my music, but I cant seem to figure it out. For example, lets say I want everything on solid blue then later at a certain point I want them to switch to strobe, then go back to solid then switch again at another point. Help would be appreciated.

  • @faithwalk1 There should be a Music Trig Button on that console from memory. But it wont be great. You could also use MIDI which some of these cheaper consoles have and most pro ones as well. Not exactly Sure on how to do the MIDI exactly as ive allwase been the Op for my consoles so never had to use it.

  • i did buy the revo 4 and a Scorpion LGX laser. The revo4 is amazing. They are set up on a on stage stand(LS7720BLT) with acouple of small chauvet stobe light at each end,

Great advises here , please keep up the good work.

    Thanks

  • I want the Revo 4; which brand is better Chauvet or ADJ for starters.

  • @fanboydakar They are both in the allright scale for me. all it is is OEM Gear out of China that has been rebaged. i can get a copy of the ADJ Revo 4 exactly but obviously it dosent say REVO 4 on it. for only $280AUD

  • Hello Brian, what will be an inexpensive DMX controller/programmer? I am planning on buying a small light set up with an ADJ vertigo tri LEDeffect, a Chauvet VUE 6.1 LED Moonflower and a Venue BLG Burst lazer. Further down the road Iwould like to increase teh number of lights. What do you think of the light choice? am I in the right path?

    Thanks

  • @fanboydakar There are a few options open to you. you can go the PC or Console way. PC way you can download a software called freestyler which is free and then u have to buy a DMX DOngle to hook ur Comp up to ur lights.

Console Way: Buy a controller such as the Elation DMX operator or something just a basic 192ch controller. many brands have versions of this just in different colour schemes

  • @martin0mac2000 The ADL Vertigo Tri LED Fx Light does not have DMX so you wont be able to control it with ur DMX controller. i would go something like the ADJ Revo 4 somewhere in there they look really good and a quite unique FX

  • just wanted to know how to program the lights to a certain song.

    thats possible right?

  • @keithdivel yes that is possible but expect alot of hard work to get it they way you want. you will need to Program a Show Via DMX useign a DMX Controller. there are some vid responses that have alot of pointers and show you how to program a basic DMX Controller to make a show. but as i said there is alot of hard work to make a lightshow exactly to the one song the lightshows i do take about 6 hours of programming and they are still only basic

  • have u ever messed around with any yorkville's pref the E1152 or E152

  • @melpol2005 what is a yorkville E1152 or a E152? sounds something Audio related to me. if it is it would be better off in the Audio forum vid as u may get a responce there. as i am about the only person who responds on this vid and i am a lighting tech and dont know much bout Audio

  • how much did yur scrim king cost??

  • @melpol2005 bout $95 for the truss sock and $65 for the Stand triangle thinggy all prices are in United States dollars

  • Hey man. I am doing some expansion now and would like a little advice on two things (for now :)) I have 2 pair of chavet intimidators 2 presently and would like some more intelligent lights but these not available anymore. I saw ur MIN LED Rotating head but they look a lil dull. Please comment on the brightness.

  • And what is my next best option?

  • @firstclassent1 if you want compeditive priceing on any items feel free to drop me a PM

  • @firstclassent1 A1PartyDjs did a vid recently on one of my mini LED Moving heads. they are quite bright for the price. the next step up in my opinion would be either a 250w halogen scanner or a 20-30w LED Moving head simmalar in design to the ADJ X Move LED and the ADJ LED Vitzi spot

  • Lighting question. I have RGB par cans. I need pink for a pink themed wedding. Is it impossible to get a good pink out of RGB mix? In this case, will I always have to use gels. How does everyone else get good pink colors for uplighting

    thanks!

    Ron

  • @boppydiamond you should not need to use Gel to get the desired effect. you can get quite a nice warm pinky purple useing Blue at 100% and adjust the red till you git the sweet spot that you like. i useually put a bit of Light frost gel over my LED Panels as it helps with the colour mixing and evens it out a bit

  • Has anyone run into this issue? I have tried programming the strobe effect in only 1 light but the lock up still occurs. I know I can buy a remote operated strobe but I would like to try and fix this issue if possible. If anyone knows what the issue might be and or knows what the fix is, Please by all means chime in. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • So ur trying to program a strobe effect lets say into a LED Par can what do you mean by "lock up"? if you could answer this i may be able to help you :)

  • Hello,

I'm using an NSI MLC-16 (Moving Light Controller)

to run Martin Roboscan 812's. I use any where from 4 to 15 Roboscans depending on the venue size. And the board has a strobe option that I can assign to a button just like all of my other colors and scenes. The strobe works great, but when I tap another button on the board to change to a scene or a solid color, the Roboscans lock up and keep strobing. I then have to reset the the board by powering it off and back on.

  • Ok to eliminate the Lights if you have another console avalible of any type program a strobe scene into it and try running it if it works that means the problem lyes within the Console ur useing.

  • Hey guys, I'm looking to get a projector, I have a budget of around 600.00 Any ideas on what i should get or should stay away from thanks in advanced Boogieman

  • If your combineing a Projector and stage lighting its a big no no on a budjet. We hired one for $300 a day it wa shooting 15m (50feet apprx) and the 8 PAR 56 cans we had allmost washed it out

  • @martin0mac2000 this would be for weddings and maybe other events about 20 yards away. Prob wont be set up near the stage or my setup, thanks Boogie

  • ah that sounds allright. but cant help u there m8 im only a lighting tech

  • brian i have a chauvet mushroom i want to change the buld to l.e.d. is it possible and if so where can i get them tnx

  • im guessing a Mushroom light that has 2x 120v 300w lamps? at the moment i know of no simple replacement bulb for this situation unfortunately without ripping parts out and doing some magior work would be simpler to buy a new LED One i have them for only $150US delivered

  • I am unable to run my musictrigger

I have my DJM-3000 connected to Martin Freekie "via Audio In" connected to Martin SCX500's and would like to have the lights run from the audio using the freekie..... any idea's?

  • i would consult ur User manual. if u have lost it it is avalible from the martin website

  • martin0mac2000,are you brian in disguise?you've answered every question here!

  • ha i will bet u $1000 i am nto Brian :D im not even in the same country. The reason is that this is a Lighting 'Forum' and what am i? i am a Lighting Tech so i am probs one of the best people to answer these qns. and Bri is jsut to busy to do it himself

  • i'm only kidding.

  • yer i know lol :D. This should be My forum not Brians :P

  • I have the manual is a joke.... checked manufactures web.... nothing... sent them an e-mail and still nothing

  • hmmm. so the scnners work Via DMX dont plug in the Audio and try them then. and then try and put the Audio in

  • Does AMDJ or anyone have preset shows available such as 12 par can uplighting chase or moving mirror show

  • i dont think companys would do that kind of thing "off the shelf" as there are soooo many people with soo many diff combos of lighitng the amount of people that would be buying thier in built programs would be small.

you could get someone else to do the programmign for you. and what is wrong with you progrmming it yourself? is time an issue?

  • I'm looking to start uplighting as another part of my business and am trying to decide on what lights to pick up. I'm having the biggest problem decifering the difference between a par 56 and a par 64 led par can? Any other thoughts about different lights out there or things to think about when starting a business like this?

  • Generally Par 56 cans are slightly smaller than thier 64 brothers. or the Par 56 will have 5mm LED's compared to the Par 64 haveing 10mm LED's. you can get LED Panels, Bars anythign u can think of. i can supply Par 64 LED's for abouts $120USD ea delivered

Is your businees Purly focused on Up Lighting? if you can be more specific then i can maybe help :)

  • @martin0mac2000

what brand of par 64 can you get at that price? I am currently a small time mobile dj, more of a hobby that a business, but the more i watch some of these videos about uplighting i've realized that no one offers a serive like this in my area. I'm looking to put alot of focus on this in my business. I've been trying to debate getting par cans vs bars, i'm thinking down the road if this takes off i'd like to have a lot of both and some pannels. I'm not sure what to start with.

  • its my own Brand :). Ok if you only afford a few then i would go for the PAR 64 Polished par can. its the most versitile out of them all.

  • you will find that i am fairly cheap. and they are some great lights i use the LED Panels i nmy hire inventory and i have 16 of them.

  • What do you think is the best a fogger or a hazer the oil base on by amercan dj. I do not know alot about hazers do they make room feel like your kicthen after makeing bacon or something oily. What do you think hazer or fog. and wicth one THANKS

  • ok i would not get an Oil Based one instead get a water based one. you can get Fazers which is basically a Smoke machine with a fan stuck infront of it in the one convenient package. any why does it have to be ADJ?

  • I have heard of fazer but I can not find any online do you know where to get one? How are fazer in bars when they have the doors open in the summer mouths. No it does not have to be adj. I just what to get the effect. For a good price and good quality. Have you ever heard of the hazer machine? good or bad. Thanks

  • Yes i have heard of Hazers. but they are generally more expensive compared to Fazers and Smoke machines. and yes a Fazer should do just fine in a bar with the doors open. Yes i know where to get one for about $250-$300 AUD ($200-$250 USD i think) inc shipping. if ur interested tell me :)

  • Yes were can you get one. Were are you located? Do you have a website? If money was not a problem would you get a hazer? Or would you say with a fazer.

  • I am located in Australia. No unfortunately i do nto have a website. No i would not get a Hazer even if u had the money as they are generally quite noisy and especially scince ur in a bar u dotn want that. they are also harder to maintain but on the plus they use much less fluid than a Fazer but then again the fluid is more expensive than smoke fluid.

  • Brian , after watching your video's today went and bought the my dmx package today. Added all my lights and all showed up from the options, my Chauvet LED RAIN 36 AND CHAUVET COOL SPOT JR are not working after using the suggested dip switch settings. I have 2 other Chauvet lights that are working correctly. Any ideas?? Thanks this is a great help!!

  • ok Set one light at a time to DMX ch 1 (dipswitch 1) and see if the lights work like that. if they do then Do the maths your self and figure out what the DMX address acorind to you should it be. Binary code. (1=1,2=2 3=4 , 4=8 5=16, 6=32, 7=64, 8=128 , 9=256, If the DIpswitchs dont match then there is somethign wrong with the software. If all else fails take it back and they may have some nifty ideas

  • what would be the cheapest led moving head that is under 60watts, but also is good quality.

  • a Copy of the Chauvet Min Spot I have them avalible for $250ea AUD ($200 USD) they are 14w RGB LED

  • i need to know where you get your stuff cause where i live chauvet min spots are $350 usd

  • acctually sorry mate i got my prices mixed up they are $250USD Delivered to ur door.

And i source Direct from China where they are manufactured that why i can offer such a low price

  • .... No questions for over a Month......

  • @martin0mac2000 ...that sucks !

  • Hey BogiemanUSA why did you remove your Questions? they may be helpful fo some one else watching this vid.

And common guys/girls dont be shy ASK AWAY!

  • After learning all i have, the questions sounded very beginner.. sorry i put them back.

  • no need to say sorry.

as there may be people out there who are jsut starting out and these "beginner" questions may be just what they are looking for.

  • I dont have a dmx controller, Can i hook all my par cans master slave and include my amdj accuspot 250 in the daisy chain, will the 250 run in sound mode masterslave or do i need to run a seperate dmx cable to them, for them to operate correctly?

  • Comment removed

  • ok no you cannot put the accuspot on the same line as the LED par cans if you have multiple accuspots you will need to run a seperate line for youe LED par cans and another for ur movers and the same with other types and brand of lights

  • martin0mac200 can i daisy chain my par led 38 (about 10 on one side) then go into a dmx splitter and come out to the front truss and out to the other side (for 10 more par cans) using the splitter in masterslave built in programs no programmer yet butr working on it, want to just use built in programs for now.

  • guess the question could be simpler, will the splitter work just using built in programs. thanks..

  • in therory it should work maybe go down to ur local Lighting shop and ask for a demo of one and take 4 of ur LED par cans with you so u can have a Master, Slave, Splitter and a slave on each side of the splitter or if ur goign to go with a larger splitter bring more Par cans. that is the safest option to do in this case

  • Looking into video projections. Any suggestions on whats durable? What kind of splitters? and i noticed some ppl use monitors is that necessary? Thanks

  • sorry man i have no clue.

im just a lighting tech :D

  • Can someone explain dimmer packs/switch packs why you would use them? what do they do? I've read the description but still dont know thanks for any answers.. DMX newbie

  • ok you use DMX Dimmers if you have par cans/fresnels/profiles , Dont ever plug an automated light into a Dimmer because it can screw with the light. a DMX switch pack is simmalr to the Dimmer but it dosent Dimm it Just switches you can plug automated lighting into this one its good if you have NON DMX lighting like your mushrooms etc.

thats just a general over view if u need more help ask a more specific question :D

  • Comment removed

  • Hi Brian, we are looking to buy a hazer.

We are considering the martin but leaning more towards the MBT model. Could you give me your insight in these and any other models from other companies we should be looking at.

We are also looking at the fogstorm 1200 fogger for smaller venues like bars and private clubs. any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

  • are you talking about the Martin Magnum Hazer?

there is alot of specs on this unit on Martins website and there is a forum visualfxreview(dot)com that has a good review on it

dont know much about the MBT

you could look into a Fazer they are a cheaper option to run

and if you have the Cash look at the Robe line of hazers they are very nice with low fluid consumption and one modle come with its own Roadcase

  • There is allso Swefog they have excellent effency

  • Yes, a Magnum 2500 in the one we are looking at. Could that be overkill for a mobile dj setup? I will look into robe hazers too. I cannot find anything on fazers. All the info I dug up said fazer was just another name for hazers.

  • Led par cans How do u hook them up dmx out to dmx in, and your dmx controller plugs into the first one is this correct? Brian i noticed on one video you have them into a slow fade is this with a dmx controler or built in program? and can you switch them to sound active if you have them tied in to a dmx controller? I've been researching them b/c i just use master slave, i use built n progrms easy for me but for weddings i like the uplighting so trying to get my ducks in a row before i buy

  • ok yes you hook them up useing the DMX in/out (ouput on desk goes to input on 1st par can etc.(it dosent have to be the first one)) you can do a slow fade useing a unit like the Elation DMX 192 by useign the timer faders and slow them down you can then program scenes and chase them thats how u get the slow fade programs with DMX.

you can do ound active with some types of LED par cans by going to a certin DMX value or if it dosent have this feature you can build scenes and then chase them.....

  • in the sound active chase on the controller

and the LED parcans have DMX in/out on them as seen in brians vids

    hope this helps

  • Thank you for all your work and Videos. A partner and I are in the process of buying a lightning rig with the intention on using primarily for Weddings in large reception halls. Our q is this. We have already ordered a ADJ LED messenger. (it will be our wow factor) The discussion came on whether to additionally buy 1 Galaxian 3D or (2) LED vertigos. We've watched your videos on both many times. We have a ten foot truss and will primarily be playing without the benefit of smoke.

  • More info: We do not have unlimited money. Intention for Messenger is to project onto walls or ceiling.

Argument A: 2 Vertigos - Believes Vertigos wider beams play better in reception halls. Concedes the Galaxia has an awesome spread, but can purchase 2 vertigos (covering large area) for much less than the cost of one Galaxia. Feels Galaxia gets lost in high light situations with full dance floor w/o benefit fog. (looks like pin pricks). Extra money can be used for other augments to rig.

  • One more note, our intention is to buy all of these lights eventually. The gist of the question is what is the smarter play for getting started with a set budget.

    THANKS EVERYONE.

  • i would go with the Vertigos and because the galaxian is less than 5mw per beam and will easly be washed out by natural/artifical light and with the 2 lights u can have different angles on things instead of everything comeing out of 1 place u can spread it out and it looks better

  • depends on your budget, i reccomend buying a set of halogen scanners if you want top end for a large venue try a moving head set (again hallogen) too much LED will spoil your set up. Hope this helps

  • yes it is very important to get a good mix of LED and conventional, for washing colour LED's are good but for white light you cant beat a profile, fresnel or par can

  • ive seen countless djs with just LED and it looks S**T tbh

  • Hi Brian I recently purchased 20 Chauvet Color Tubes and the controller Can I use a regular DMX controller to get different effects than I can get with the std. pre-programed controller?

  • yow will probably need a box of some sort to convert the DMX 512 signal into something the LED tubes reconignise other wise yes you can do everything u can do with a pre programed controller with DMX as long as they are compatible

  • hello, I recently bought a Chauvet Obey10 lighting controller, and i also bought a bunch of non DMX lights, like eliminator lighting mushroom lights, and a double derby light (e108) as well as a fog machine and 4 par 38's. I was wondering, what kind of dimmer would i use to be able to

control all of these with the Obey. If someone could get back to me sometime thatd be awesome. Thanks!

  • yer u can use a Dimmer for your Par cans but not for ur Fx lighting (the mushrooms) you wil need a switch pack for that you can get 4ch DMX ones from ADJ that has a dimmer + switcher in one its called the :Elation DP-415 and for RRP $170USD its pritty afordable

  • Okay thanx martin0mac2000 ^^

  • no probs

  • So my question is:

You have ADJ my DMX an i will know how i can connect more than 1 light to it? than it hase only 1 DMX out what must i buy oder do? pleas help me brian.

  • well Dmx is daisy chained to every thing so it will only have 1 output from MY DMX and then into ur first light it will have a DMX in and out u plug ur first cable into dmx in and then grab another cable and plug thet into the dmx out on the light then grab another light and plug that cable that comes out of ur 1st light and plug it into ur 2nd light and etc. it just keeps on going till u fill 1 DMX universe (512 ch) .....

  • then ur second option is to buy a DMX splitter which u plug i line in and mutiple lines come out. this can be handy if u have lights on T stands scattered round the room and u dont want to waste cable makeing a full lap of the room from haveign to daisy chain every thing

Mikey Mike from Direct Sound has a great vid on DMX splitters

  • I am a new mobile DJ and I am looking for any recommendations on a small light setup that packs a big punch. I need to be able to set it up and break it down quickly. It would be used for (B-Day parties (indoors and outdoors), Weddings, Charity Balls, etc). At this point I dont believe that I wouldnt use a DMX controller and like the idea of the sound activated lights. Im thinking of 2 to 4 lights with the total cost near 1k dollars. Thanks in advance!

  • u could go with 4 cheap LED par 64 cans = $120AUD delivered

and some fx lights like some DJ scans or some X scans and some thing like the Revo 3 or the ... (invincibleled) and 2 revo sweeps. that would be allright

    cans = $120 ea = $480 AUD

    revo swees = $120 ea = $240 AUD

    revo 3 = $400 AUD

    total = 1120AUD

so u should be easily in the states get all this for under $1000 USD

  • Hi, thanks for all of the helpful videos.

I have a question about the fazers and foggers. I shoot video for lots of local bands (see my channel) and i wanted to know, if i use a fazer or fogger, do they tend to leave a film on the lenses? I could just run one and find out, sure, but when i pick mine up i'll need to get some clear filters for all of the cams at the same time to protect the main lenses.. Thanks!

  • well if u heavily fog out a room for extended periods of time it will leave residue but with a fazer u shouldent have that problem and the oil cracker hazers do leave a little residue but they r useualy the most expensive hazers with a long hang time and high fluid effency - MOM2k

  • Thanks, yes i know they don't leave residue on things like walls and floors unless you pump lots of smoke and leave it there for a long time.. My question is specifically for cameras and lenses. The tiniest amount can affect picture quality and be a major pain (especially oil based) to clean off a lens. Is there anyone who has shot with oil and/or water based fog/faze? I'll most likely get an oil based fazer, and use just enough to make the light beams visibile, possible a little more. Thanks!

  • what ever u do never use a flash on a camera when the room has haze in it u can imagine the outcome :D and if its that sensitive i would plain stay away fro mthe oil based hazers and foggers

  • Great point on the flashes, i probably would not have thought of that. These are video cameras (anywhere from four to twelve) so camera flashes aren't usually an issue, but some of the shows have strobes etc.. Thanks!

  • would someone make a vid on how the set up their truss. I will make a video on how i do it

  • common people dont be shy ASK AWAY!!!

no matter how stupid it may seem to u.

  • yup yup i agree

  • what happens if you use dmx 512 controller with a green lasser cause I have at least 6 different lassers but I dont know if I should buy a controller cause I dont know if it works with lassers please answer thanks

    cheers!

  • ok to start with ur lasers bneed to have DMX capabilitys and the fx u will get will be pre set into the laser u need a special PC link to make the laser do whatever u want it to so with DMX and lasers ur limited to what u can do with preset patterns and stuff. Just ask if u need more questions answered MOM2K!

  • Does someone know some good beginners lightning (for small rooms/bedroom) ?

  • do u want to go LED or halogen? i recomend LED if u can afford it look at soem of Brians vids for more info thats where i would first look and then u can decive 4 ur self :D

  • I go for LED :) that's better

  • ADJ vertigo TRI-LED, Chauvet mini colorstrip

  • ty :)

  • im lighting director for asleep at the wheels concert in berkeley springs wv. me and my partner would like 2 use a cyc (dont know if thats the correct spelling) effect. all we have is theater flats painted white and par cans, will that work? we have NO budget! any other suggestions? thank you

  • do u just want an uncontrolled wash? and yes that is the correct spelling cyc have u tryed useing a fresnel it gives u more control over the light but it may cost u a little and 2 wash a whole stage with 1 cyc is riddiculus because u will get shadows every where. and 1 roblem with par cans is that they have a hot spot in the middle if the beam and allso the beam is oval not round

ask me if u have any other questions ive done allmost 7 theater produtions where i was involved with the lgihting.

  • u could use multiple cyc's with barndoors fitted to them and then u have to watch ur power and ur dimmer and how much u are loading over each phase (if u got a 3phase dimmer) and u can put a frost gel into ur parcans to even the beam out a little and allso use WFL lamps if ur trying to go for washing wiht ur cans or for somethign more general use MFL lamps allso again for more control over the beams of lightout of the parcans put a barndoor on them. • Does anyone know where you can buy the cheapest brand named lighting?

  • have u looked overseas? from where ADJ and chauvet buy thier stock from its the same quality but at a very cheap price.

and whats the problem with no name brands?or brands that r not known well

  • I'm not sure if anybody can relate to this, but I have two Chauvet Intimidator 1.0's that I bought from two different places. One says it was manufactured in Sept. 2005, and the other one, April 2009. I'm not sure why,, but one of them has much crisper colors/gobos than the other. Ex. One has a turquoise for a blue, any the other one has a true blue. This is actually really annoying cause the newer one makes the older on look blurry. Does anyone know what is going on here? Did they upgrade lens?

  • with in 4 years most manufctures upgrade thier units with new software different parts etc i got 2 moving heads that were manufactured in the same month and they have different software and componts. allso the in the older one the colour might of started out as true blue but has faded over 4 years of use and now appears turquoise and is the bulbs both the same age? and are the lenses clean? this can reduce clariety

ask me if u have any other questions or ur still not sure. Martin0mac2000

  • Hi,

Whats a good small/cheap dmx controller to use with ADJ tri-phase to control color, speed & dimming?

    Thanks

  • do u want a full DMX controler? casue u can get a ****** that changes the patterns has a blackout function and **********

but if you dont want that basic a controler check out my vid on the DMX master avalible in Australia for aud$180 thats a basic cheap dmx controler its like the chauvet DMX55 controler ( i think)

  • Hi All:) I just watched "Briansredd" videos "DJ Help-LED without DMX parts1&2", I have been using Old School Lighting & want to change to LED lights, i originally bought 6 x par56 cans the red put out heaps of light & drowned out other colors...so i want to get it right this time!..My question is...By Playing in different size venues (few hundred ppl) i want to have enough lighting to wash/cover the area...how do i know each lights coverage & how many i need...without getting to much salestalk?

  • In Addition to my question...i would like to buy lights i have seen online "LED DJ Disco Light MOVING HEAD 36X3W WASH Double Arm" which i can get here in Australia for around $530AUD, also "New Par 64 LED Stage Light DMX RGB 177 LEDS" for around $125AUD but they are from China...can anyone help if these are good lights to buy?

  • ok to start with regualr pars red and yellows wash out the greens and the blues and that is not really a problem anymore with the LED the red is still slightly stronger but by not much.

and you should ask for the throw of the light and what the beam angle is the wider the beam angle the more area it will fill but the light will be dimmer as to say a hard spot .

and have a look at A1partydjs i think you are buying from the G store on ebay?

  • a little bit of advise dont get the LED par 64's get LED wash(strobe) Panels they have round 240 10mm LEDs in them and they are much brighter and dont cost much more. a mate of mine has 12 of these and they washed a stage 17m wide and 10m deep easily they allmost overpowered 4 MSD 250/2 moving heads

  • How do you can control the Revo Sweeps on a DMX controller?

  • you can control the revo sweeps on DMX controlers. you first ned to have a controller and a working DMX line to hook up the fixture no all it is a matter of programeing scenes and putting them in a chase.

  • Does anyone know where to buy American DJ Lighting effects online in Australia?

    Been searching for ages...........

  • ok Industry gear is the ADJ distributer in Australia. make sure you call them to find out thier dealers because thier online dealler list is noot up to date.

  • Does anybody know how the output of a 750 watt fogger compares to the output of a 1000 watt fogger? Is there a big difference in output? I want a 1000 watt fogger, but I don't want to trip breakers..haha.

  • its a big difference.......
