@andreas19ist, sorry but you would have to have been born in the early 60's to enjoy the scene in the 80's and the Sex Pistols and all the other great punks in England were over by 1980.. the Pistols were gone.... the Clash had moved on, and Gen X had spawned Satan's child, Billy Idol.... American Hardcore was on the rise and the Early 80's belonged to the nex gen of Great American bands... X, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Fear, Husker Du just to name a few. I was there and saw it...
Every fucking Pistols video I watch, people are all "GREEN DAY SUCKS ANARCHY IN DA UK!" God shut up. You haven't got the slightest clue what punk is. It's an attitude, a way of living. It's the ability to think for yourself and trust your own judgement. Not the music you like, the way you do your hair, or the way you dress. Not how much you fit the punk stereotype. Now shut up and be happy that the Sex Pistols created awesome music like this. No need to criticize the bands that came after them
@WizardTaco123 i agree. of course every punk dresses it with their own interpretation, it is another form of expression, it is music, yet you are only a true punk for how you are on the inside. the rest is just self expression and is apart of punk. green day had a few good albums in my opinion. yet i don't care for the new stuff. meh.
Love the flipping Sex Pistols! I wish people listened to good music like this today, I feel like other bands are trying to hard to look punk, but just cause you look punk doesn't freaking make you a punk, it makes you a poser. REAL punks couln't care less how they looked or sound! They really need to watch the movie SLC Punk. Just sayin'.
@LibbyBarcel2 Hahaha that's amazing.. I just went to listen to some Sex Pistols after talking with a friend and he said that I should watch SLC Punk cause I remind him of it. Anways just saying that's so wicked strange that after being told to watch it , youre mentioning it ....my watching it , must truely need to happen haahaha
@IHeartHelloKitty1974 Hahahaha You REALLY need to watch it! It is freaking life changing!!! And that is strange...haha But it is my favorite movie ever!!!
@ramonefreek and @NazTb0y...read No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs written by John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) Great book. If you love the Sex Pistols and the Ramones you'll get a really good look into 70's punk era from the perspective of John Lydon. It also includes bits written by other musicians entering the punk scene at the same time...
yuuh artık.. aşırmanın bu kadarı! eurovisiona çalıntı şarkıyla gittik resmen bu kadar benzerlik olamaz! Yüksek Sadakat TRT'yi başarılı bir şekilde temsil etti (!)
@ramoneFreek So, is the Ramones' remake of Needles & Pins is inferior? How about Scarface with Al Pacino, also a remake (not a well known fact)? no disrespect, but you shouldn't rely on generalizations. Hear the damn remake first. Lacey Conner has such a hot way of singing it. It's very seductive in a way this song isn't. And to be fair, the original isn't trying to do that, but the dimension of dark sexuality in Nocturne's remake adds a lot to the song. It's at least good enough to stand alone.
@NazTb0y Dude chill out. I know the Ramones have a lot of covers. I like them better then originals because they're my favorite band. The Sex Pistols are my second favorite. I'm not sayin a remake is bad but the original is better considering the pistols wrote it.
@ramoneFreek lol, I am chill! I'm just pointing out the tautology of your argument. OK, so the Ramones can cover songs and make them better, but no one can cover a Sex Pistols song and make it better just b/c the Sex Pistols wrote it?! I'm telling you--hear the cover, then decide which is better!
@NazTb0y Thaaaaaaat was pretty awesome. For some reason, I don't respond sexually to music, but the heaviness of the cover mixed with the electronic noises gave it a really badass groove. It's probably not better than the original, but that's hard to determine because it's so different. And I've always thought that it's the differences that make any cover good.
@Zerojimm I agree. If the cover sounds exactly the same, it's pointless. However, the changes don't have to be that significant. Nightwish did a cover of Over the Hills and Faraway, which I like better--and the big difference is louder drums and a classically trained female vocalist...
I'm with you on this one. I love the Pistols' original, but Lacey's take on it cranks it to a new level. The whole "submission" BDSM overtone of the lyrics just smokes with her delivery. It goes from punk to porn.
I love the Sex Pistols. I also like Nine Inch Nails but anyone who doesn't think Johnny Cash didn't do a better job with "Hurt" isn't listening to the song. Listen to the lyrics of songs; some deliveries are just more suited to them than the originals.
@UncleFexxer woah there! I agree with every word apart from Cash's remake. Not that Cash's voice isn't charming, but he lacks the dramatic presence of Reznor. Remember, Trent Reznor's a pretty respectable actor, & actually got awards in school for it. Cash's remake is flat, limpid. It lacks variation. He won't say crown of "shit" b/c he's too PC, so says crown of "thorns." Reznor sounds like he's crying b/c of being disturbed whereas Cash b/c of being so fucking old.
