I think Lacuna Coil are very melodic, kind of liek dark tranquility, but a lot softer.

The funny thing is they still being Lacuna Coil, but a concept album led them to a whole different direction. This album is not mainstream, but unique. Every track says how a "Shallow Life" does not makes ourselves complete, but being just who each one of us really are. Congrats Coil! This album is spetacular!

I was so dissapointed !!! in them when i heard the album.

it is so borring. I thought they'd go for the metal version rather than the mainstreem one- which i hate.

their first albums were all so good! especially "unlished memories" which was amazing.

when i heard unlished memories for the first time it was all noisy and too heavy for me but ive grown to love it so much. and when i heard "shallow life" all the songs were the same! i can only hope they took the hint. next time around.

Naming a musical tour "The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour" is beyond selling out. It's disrespectful to women in the business and it only made the band seem like a joke to everyone in the metal community.

This band is such a disappointment. They were on their way to Heavy Metal royalty until they strayed to the mainstream American market.

Of course making music is a business. They need to make money in order to keep touring and making music. But all that sex appeal used for promotion coupled with very commercialized albums has done nothing but give the band a bad name and alienate the very fans that made them successful in the first place, the metal fans. Why do you think the band arent getting as much promotion and hype anymore? They've pretty much killed off their fanbase. Bad business move.

lmao since when am I feminist? the fact that Cristina is proud of her looks and her feminity when so women in metal and rock music aren't is pretty cool. But they over did it by naming a MUSICAL tour based on JUST her looks. Like I said, it was bad business by giving themselves a bad name. I'm done. In the end, i'm still a fan of the band since they are cool people and give it their all live. Just hoping for REAL music on their next album. Its the only way theyll win their fans back.

@orga210 I think it's kind of the point of the album; they're immitating all the fake musicians and celebrities that are around at the moment, but the music is still really good, even though it's a more mainstream style.

It sucks really bad that such a talented band has sold out. They know they can do better. They know they can make music with meaning and creativity. But instead they chose to make generic teenage pop/rock for the masses. In their old interviews they would always say that they were first a metal band.. and now they've completely dissociated and alienated themselves from the metal scene. RIP the old Lacuna that Rob Halford, Ozzy, Dave Mustain, and the rest of the metal community once loved..

I totally agree with you. Its too poppy for me. Some of the songs have a hint of how they used to be but its so different that their style is faded by the pop/rock beats. Probably that's why they called it "Shallow Life." LOL! The album itself is so musically shallow for those who want to listen to ear candy all day. Their lyrics are so weak I don't even wan to listen to them anymore I just want to listen to Maus, Cristiano, and Marco play their music.

You know what would bring lacuna coil up is Cristina Scabbia sing Spellbound with Matt Shadows (Vocals - Avenged Sevenfold). They both have great voices, they both would sound so good together, and Matt Shadows and his band are very big. They came on TRL and their concerts are HUGE!! They also have a bunch of fans.

Admittedly I've never been a huge LC fan but I think they have made some very decent albums and Cristina does have a very beautiful/powerful voice. But there has to be something more than her voice to carry an entire album - no matter how good she is. There isn't. There is nothing progressive about it, nothing new. Just a bit more mainstream (in lack of a better term) which might be a sideeffect to the "American inspiration" that they have been talking so much about ever since Karmacode?
