  • Ahhh............friday nights on ABC,Karen Valentine was cute as a bug.

  • Today's modern day "liberal" is not your father's liberal. They're a disgusting mix of Marxist, socialist, Leninist, and suicidal odious cretins of the lowest order!

  • is that Darnell Hillman at 0:49?

  • HAHAHA, OMG look at the size of that afro -- 0:49

  • This was from the days when you couldn't have an intelligent anglo male on television. So.....Room 222 opted for a ditsy anglo woman to fill out the rainbow cast. White males were always dumbasses.....usually "saved" by an intelligent woman.

  • @catndryer It dont matter what you watch now seems like everyone is kooky on TV.

  • @catndryer Ironic, in a time where nearly every head newscaster and member of Congress were anglo and male--intelligent or not.

  • as the abc announcer always say at the end of that promo for that classic tv 5 season class room show, "Wednesdays and later Friday Nights here on abc!"

  • Fridays on abc tv

  • Totally agree this show should be on TV Land or the Good Life Network...it is AWESOME. I am a teacher and I have this show on DVD *I was just being born when it went off the air...had heard of it but never saw it till now*...It's a really good show that tackled topics that are STILL relevant today.

I hope they release the rest of this series. I don't want this to be yet another classic show with only ONE season out on DVD.

    GroomGray

    well , let's just say

    I was late for class

And detention hall was a bonus.

    Aim & Aig

    Handy Dandy

    Room 222

  • The black teacher appeared later in 1978'

Ali "bio" the Greatest, as Herbert Muhammad, Ali's Muslim manager.

    Excellent performance by an outstanding

    stage & TV actor.

  • DAMN!I'm old!

  • you and me both

and lots of the actors who portrayed hs kids, but look like they were in their 30s

but god, i loved this show

  • Season 1 will be released on DVD next week (3/24/09)

  • Karen valentine was a doll!

  • I want Karen Valentine so bad.

  • Those were the days, I was in high school at that time and looking back at this now makes the memories come on back.

  • The Retro TV Network should add this show to their schedule.

  • Great show. I remember watching repeats with my sisters when I was young. Still no dvd huh? Sad.

  • DVD !

I demand this on DEE VEE DEEE

  • Ask and you shall receive. The show is coming to DVD this spring courtesy of Shout! Factory.

  • Love Karen Valenitne, especially in Gidget goes to New Yourk, anyone post that?

  • What is the excuse for NOT having this extraordinary show on DVD?

  • anyone notice Mare Winningham at .31, Ed Begley, Jr. at .42 ... and ????? at .18 (hmmm can't remember his name)

  • I saw ed there but i think Mare is much too young to have been on that show. unless as a kid sister or something.

  • Todd Susman

  • lol - right!

    thanks, Todd!!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Karen Valentine is hot!

  • I saw this show for the first time on TVLAND..I love it...DVD Please!!!!Thanks for posting

  • Me too. To bad TVLand sucks wind now and is airing crap from the 1990s. Maybe someday before I die we will get a channel that will be like TVLand was when it debuted. If we do I will tape everything as that channel will not stay that way very long. Every channel turns to garbage within a few years of its debut any more.

  • @storrs19 yea, this was about the time the TV shows started becoming Infested with negros

  • @storrs19 TVLand is a joke now. Did you know its owned by MTV? All they want to do is put on stupid reality shows.

  • @flamen493 I know TV Land is a Viacom-owned property. Thank God for the Hallmark Channel, which currently airs 'I Love Lucy,' 'Little House on the Prairie,' and stuff like that; not like TV Land, TBS, CMT, and all those other channels which are selling out with reality shows or modern movies without appeal.

  • mmmmmm How adorable is Karen Valentine?

  • I had a crush on her big time when I was about 8, and 5 yrs later I had a teacher that looked A LOT like her, and her first name was Karyn.

  • I wish that happened to me, ya lucky...

  • I loved this show why isn't it out on DVD yet??

  • I love chronology, don't you?

  • Back then, they had good commercials and bumpers, though I was born in 1980. I hear that the sixties and seventies were two of the good decades.

  • I'm 43, and was just old enough to watch Room 222 and Love American Style-glad I had a cool mother. I think Love American Style came on Fridays at 10.

  • I'm the same age and saw them both, too.

  • Yes, it's nice when I can commisserate with others about shows like this, so I don't have to feel like I'm dating myself.

  • I'm sorry but Denise Nicoals was hotter than Karen Valentine.

  • I was in high school back in those days and I wish Ms. Johnson (Karen Valentine) would have gave me some lessons on sex education.

  • It's so hard to believe that so many actors got their start on this show. Anthony Geary, Cindy Williams, and Richard Dreyfuss to name a few. Eric Laneuville worked on St. Elsewhere and became a Director and Michael Constantine did My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

  • Speaking of St. Elsewhere, it looks like Ed Begley Jr. also appears in the above promo.

  • I had wet dreams about Karen,,,,,,

  • Who cares what you want, certainly, not me.

  • low life sikko

  • Karen is my cousin. I didn't know she was Italian. Im related to her on the portuguese side

  • Do you know whether or not your cousin is still sexually attractive? I'd be interested in any pictures of her spread butt cheeks that you may have to post! LOL!!!

  • And he's choosey, too!

  • Lloyd Haynes was my hero; and Karen Valentine was just a "sweetheart" for everyone!

She is Italian and Portuguese, from California-

Haven't seen her in years. But sorry to say, Lloyd Haynes passed away a few years back.

FYI-He was a Lt. Commander in the Navy, and a member of the Baha'i Faith-

    "Rest in Peace, Lloyd-"

One of Hollywood's Gentleman of all gentlemen.

  • Why can't they put these classics on DVD? This was some of the greatest TV, in the early 70s.

  • I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who had a thing for Karen, as a wee lad. I always wondered why I never saw her in anything after Room 222. Great show where are the re-runs? I think we are about the same age here. I want to give a big shout out to my peers. We grew up to some cool music and T.V. Shows. I call our the sandwich generation. Kind of caught between everything Dorris Day to AC/DC and hippies to hypocrites. All in all a very colorful period of time.

  • I like that you said that, DrDang! I feel the same way. We weren't exclusively one OR the other! In some ways, we had it very good. We had the both of best worlds. I'm grateful for being part of a very unique generation of Americans who lived during changing times in America. They call us "Generation X" but I like your term better.

  • This promo dates from the fall of 1970, when "ROOM 222" began its second season. Ernie Anderson was the announcer here.

  • Oh Man, does this take me back!! Thanks for posting.

  • What does Karen Valentine look like these days?

Sure was a honey in the early 70's.

  • not so good.

  • LOL--I think 80% of males had a crush on Karen back then.

  • I remember going to my High School & this was after gang killings. Racism was still on & you don't see a mix couple together holding hands in the Early 70's. I go into in 1973 into High School & I was some kind of Elton John Style because I don't want students to laugh @ me cause I'm poor. I wanted to look rich & stylish.

  • I'm 47 too, what's up with that? And listening to the theme put a smile on my face. I felt all warm and fuzzy! Probably because I would have been watching it wearing my flannel pjs!

  • I always wanted to do Karen Valentine!

  • Karen Valentine was in my bed during my dream yrs. of the 70's.

  • Love American Style

  • A Simpler time...

  • omg room 222 and love american style such memories

  • Actually, that was a great promo--and pretty blunt about the realities of teaching school (did anyone actually LIKE Silas Marner--well, I did, but I'm a weirdo).

  • This was part of the great ABC TGIF line up. For

starters we had: Brady Bunch at 8:00 pm The Partridge Family at 8:30 pm Room 222 at 9:00 pm The Odd Couple at 9:30 pm

Love American Style at 10:00 pm then.......your local 11:00 o clock news.....

Thanks for posting that ! What wonderful tv memories!

  • Yes!!! I remember that now... my family watched all those. I was just a kid and would be in bed by Love American Style, but I could always here the theme song "Love American Style, truer than the red white and bluuuuue" lol Ah, life was so much easier than. lol 47 years old and I sound like a fogie.

  • I am 47 also,,,and I loved this show,,,but your right, Love American style was past my bed time too in 1970

  • I latently feel your pain. I'm 41, thus, I was also denied the opportunity to watch Love, American Style because it was on too late.

However, a few years later as a preteen, it was rerun weeknights locally, but at 11:30 pm, so I was STILL not allowed to watch it (though I did secretly as I had a portable TV in my bedroom at the time).

  • That was a great Friday night. I remember that my older sister used to watch this show and I hated it. Now I'd love to see it.

  • All the programs listed & seen them all

  • thanx loved this show!

  • Where in the world did you find this!?

Loved this show as well as Marcus Welby, M.D. too!

  • Actually "Room 222" first season was 1969 - 70. ABC had quite a number of memorable premieres that year, "Room 222", "Marcus Welby, M.D." (someone needs to put vid. up for that show) & the biggie was, "The Brady Bunch".

  • Great show, and the students were 'hip';like Bernie the white kid with a huge red afro. I love you Karen Valentine!!!!

  • Silas Marner?!? Love this promo.

  • Groovy show back in the early 70's! I remember watching the reruns of "Room 222" in the late 70's and early 80's on KSTW TV 11 in Seattle.

  • Came on right after the Partridge Family!

  • Lousy promo, but good show with a great theme song!

  • I loved this show, and I loved the theme song, Mr Dixon was a great role model for all people.
