  • Does anybody remember what Gfay used to be like???

    I miss it so much

  • This brings back memories of not being able to sleep until I found my corpse! Just having to either get it myself or give permission for someone to drag it to the zone line is unforgettable! Lol Then summon corpse and Rez stones were invented!!! I wish I had the time to play now. Maybe one day again!

  • Anyone still playing? I stopped years ago. I can't imagine how strong some players re now. There hve to be people one or two shotting those hill giants in that one zone..or that pain in the ass corrupted unicorn r horse

  • I dinged L3 as I watched this :)

  • Priest of Discord in the train... lol

  • there werent any horses in EQ when this great song was written! LOL video is so funny

  • *Zones into HHP* Camp check? Can I be on the list?

  • Nothing can describe the epic that everquest was. Maybe because an MMO was a real novel idea back then. Still, nothing can describe the attachment I felt for my guild, or playing online with my family. Learning your flying kick skill for the first time. Camping out for some fat lute, maybe a flowing black silk sash, or a cloak of flames, or a fungi tunic, or a dreaded piece of your characters epic quest, waiting for 6 hours, falling asleep on the keyboard.. missing it..

  • @WolfenFoust in high school I was talking about EQ with a buddy in class, and our football team's quarterback asks "hey man... you guys play EQ??". It was classic.

  • anyone got SOW?

  • I miss this game, since merc system, this game is no more, its sooooooooooo easy now

  • I sure miss those gnoll trains...

    :'(

  • EQ was such a grind and a pain to actually find the quest. No icon above there head, oh no! You had to "Hail" the NPCs and follow along with their dialog and ask questions accordingly. You actually felt like you accomplished something! Ahhh, the memories. EQ, you are sorely missed.

  • You have ruined your own lands!

    TRAIN TO ZONE

    LOADING... PLEASE WAIT

Hey, people... add to this! Famous EQ quotes!

  • @AlterDimensions

    WTB KEI

  • love this song

  • I wanna play eq again !

  • what are raytions and mayna?

  • @TheToekutter Rations and Mana.... this is most likelly to show the ubber n00bs and people typing so fast because they we're scared the crap out to see the tank go pull when you we're OOM! (out of mana!)

  • @justintrr lol im pretty sure the mispronunciation of the two words are just a result of the guy's accent.

the "manana" joke in the beginning is fantastic though, and is what you're talking about. though i think everyone has done that sort of thing at least once.

  • I remember playing back in 2000 and I was a Paladin ( Big mistake) and I remember getting out into Qeynos Hills and leveling up, then a wolf came by and started biting me and I see this Holly Windstalker comming over and I was like YEssss an npc to kill it, and she kills me and tells me to not touch the wolves...I miss this game, the raids, grouping after the raids so you can get your exp back..lol good times.

  • RATIONS ARE NOT A DRINK

  • i love this

  • i played what is now Luclin-Stromm.....unless they merged more :/ miss it!

  • Lol i love how the human ask the gnome what he sees. In EQ humans without light source shouldnt see crap at night. Thats a reason i made a Ogre war for the Ultra Vision and no stun from front.

  • I miss EverQuest, and certain songs and things give me insane flashbacks leaving me with a craving as powerful as any drug addiction. But luckily (for my life's sake), as much as I cherished those times playing EQ, I cannot get them back since times have changed--I'll always have the memories. No idea how that game had the effect it did.

  • Ahh Everquest, back when communities were great! not just some shitty assed kids.

  • "now everything cons red now when i play" - hahah him an his loser buddy have no other choice then to stick together... thats what made this game great!

  • Brings back memories of CB and the Ambassador DVinn that everyone always tried to get but he whooped us so often! "Hey, we can take him... he may drop the dirk!" That thing was such a huge prize! /OOC WTS DIRK 70pp OBO pst! Those were the days.

  • The true social bonding aspect has left MMOs. EQ was like family.

  • @krozareq not really. The EQ2 community is great. I owuld agree with you otherwise though. most communites these days are nonexistant, but the eq eq2 ones are still alive and kicking.

  • @Trueflights can you tell me how to get out of tut no guides say exactly how to get out i got the kobald charm and when i create a char when i click dont put me in tut it still does?

  • The last night of the EQ1 beta, giant gnolls attacked Qeynos hills. It gave me such high hopes for live events.

  • I'll see you all in the cave :)

  • Nothing has proven more than the MMO industry that competition isn't always the best course to quality.

  • 3:58, I laughed until I cried, because it's so true. You meet someone and go on some adventure that bombs out horribly, like crossing Antonica at level 10, where you spend hours just trying to get from one point to another for no reason at all, dying constantly and having a terrible go at it. And yet, at the end, you're friends for life and want to meet up to play again.

  • I've never played this game in my life... but I was entertained by this video

  • i went live 2 days ago just so i can do timelocked eventually lol.

  • Thank You, EverQuest. I will gladly sell my childhood to you (again) in any given life.

  • omg hahhahaha i lvoe this video ! the part bout the ranger was priceless !

  • omg i havnt seen this video in like 7 yrs!

  • '99 was a hell of a year, boys and girls. I'm sorry for you because you have never, nor will you ever know, the true wonder and magic that was the early days of Everquest. It's never ever going to happen again. It's like Elvis or the Beatles -- if you weren't there, you can only pretend to know. What you play now is polished and tailored to sell en masse, ala Kesha or your common computer-animated fart-and-burp-joke kid's movie of the month. EQ was a secret club, and you missed the fk out.

  • @DefiniteMC One word, four numbers: Project 1999. *Happy face*

  • This song is timeless

  • awesome vid. i still play on bristlebane

  • for sure =) i havent played since 2005 and im back now =) or will be at the 15 and alot of friends aswell. And this topic is the first ever time i post on youtube :P but spreading the word might pull some extra ppl to the server and make it better i hope.

They said that they gonna keep items on u after die but might do it as it used to be if ppl vote for it after relese. But i bet cb will be overpopulated at 15th :P

  • u need to read forums for more info and , no it cant be rushed !! as its a time progress server next expansion wont be relesed just cuz somone rush the end game.

  • @zork6666

really? hmmm, maybe worth, to have a look on it, huh?

  • Just goggle for it and u find the info u search

What will be the name of the Time Locked Progression Server?

•The Time Locked Progression Server will be named Fippy Darkpaw, as chosen by the community.

When will the Time Locked Progression Server open?

•Currently we are targeting Tuesday February 15, 2011 for the opening of Fippy Darkpaw.

What rule set will the Time Locked Progression Server use?

•The Time The Time Locked Progression Server will use the normal PvE rule set.

  • @zork6666

well, thouse infos, like no infos, hehe. my guess is, that SoE doing it the same way, like before. easy ruleset. what means, the progressing will be fucking fast. ppls will level and raid the content like nothing.

    idea = good

    accomplishment = fail

  • SoE got a time progressive server coming out now at 15 feb =)

  • @zork6666

will it be like the servers before? or now REAL? ;-)

  • @mailhunter google for :: Fippy Darkpaw as that gonna be the server name.

  • "Good thing that guard came by."

    ROFL!

  • Funniest Experience in EQ... Lvl 60 screaming for help running through newbie area with a train of Fire Beetles behind him. He wasn't in danger, but that was the funny part... o and the occasional screams like little girl emotes.

God I miss the trade tunnel.

  • LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...

  • lmao good times

  • Classic lol

  • i think this game has gotten too fn easy and slack with the mercs

  • wheeeeeeere's yooooooooouuuur corpse atttttttttttttt where's corpse at where's your where's your corpse at

  • yeh... corpse runs! oh man... those were the days... they ensured that you had a plan before pulling... couldn't just barge in and start casting... you had a specific plan of attack... and dying meant something.the concept of not needing to "zone" was definitely innovative... but you actually kinda miss being able to zone... I think I'm going to go back...

  • This was hilarious! Thanks for the memories!

  • @poopalisk The difficulty meant requiring you to use your brain . . . it's not a matter of enjoying pain--it's a matter of not being content to wear diapers and use training wheels.

  • Never played this, started with LoTR Online

  • Pfft I remeber the days of Asherons Call I got into the obsidian plains one day on my dads character and died like 50 times lol lost all his stuff cuz I was a kid then hahaha when he got home from work that day he got a surprize, he got all his stuff back after summoning 15 guildies rofl good times good times

  • First warrior on server to have cobalt leggins;) Back in the day.

  • hehe loved this game lost 2 girlfrieds while i was playing, i realy whanted the SoV boots =). Totaly wourth it!! =P

  • I remember shouting LOADING PLEASE WAIT... and watching everyone stopping, most dying from it XD

There was also You are Hungry. You are Thirsty. You are out of Food and Drink. ^^ Fun times ^^

  • i miss playing it :( im 16 ;D

  • @momcare333 me too, i started playing when i was about 5. my dad helped beta it so i grew up with EQ <3

  • I still play EQ occasionally, so much easier now of course, though still a tougher challenge and farmore scope than any other rpg out there.

  • There Working on a Everquest 3 now, with any luck it will be very similar to how EQ was back in the days where it was acualy difficult unlike all the current games where you hit max lvl in a week or two. Nothing like the good old corpse runs and dodging those trains.

  • oh ea ive watched EQ grow man i liked it better back then its to easy now

  • EQ still going ! I'm playin it :-) very different but still a good game!

  • God that brings back some fond memories. haven't played EQ in about three years but I have been thinking about a come back tour.

  • kinda miss those days haven't seen this game in 5 yrs

  • i miss this game already the last time i logged on was October of 2003

  • Classic....... Still playing on Povar server ...

  • I can see big guy.

  • oh man EverQuest was the best mmo ever they dont know how ez they have it today!

Playing for 5 hours stright and watching my orange bar go no where that was befor that added the blue lines . 2 hour corps runs ez . The crazy trains in unrest going to grab a drink siting the front of the zone come back to find out your dead two seconds later Lol But I have to say it was good good times no matter how pissed off you got. You ran got your corps and kept playing. The classic Black Burrow. The Best

  • @hitthesurf23 classic BB was the shit...remember the Gnoll Slayer

  • I've tried all the new MMORPGs and have yet to find one that can hold my interest like EQ classic did. I doubt I'll see another game like it again. Sony sure did a nice job blowing it.

  • @penisraiel Laaaaugh. You wish. Those games are so watered down, you can sleep while playing them. ICC 25m heroic? Don't make me laugh.

  • I still remember going through lesser faydark and being scared as hell when equestrielle the corrupted would come running out of nowhere and beat your low level ass to the ground in 1 or 2 hits. For me Everquest was ruined when they got rid of the sullen zek server and merged it. I loved going around with my level 50 bard and ganking n00bs. I got my MR up to over 300 and I could never be rooted so I would just run around and kill and no high levels could stop me cause i could run away.

  • i startet playing this game when i was 3 and i played WoW and its just not as good EQ was the best mmo in my opinion it was challengeing not hard but not easy and really brings me down when kids my age and people who have never played comment how wow is better its a shame.

  • Everquest was awesome. World of Warcraft can't even be considered a game when put next to Everquest. WoW only requires 3 year old intelligence to master the game. Everquest actually required skilled

  • @erasetoimprove No one ever mastered EQ. There were just too many different ways to play to really master it heh. I'm actually still active on The Rathe server.

  • I never get that same feeling from any other mmorpg... Everquest <3<3

  • You still play?

  • @TylerStatic

    not on liveserver.

  • @TylerStatic

I Still keep my EQ embers going but on a more private shard these days. For the last 3 years I have been playing on Shards of Dalaya; with is custom content and the same zones that I loved the most it has kept me stuck!! I Love it!!

  • Please forgive me while I spread severe nostalgia all over the place as I'm laughing my ass off.

  • Five more minutes and then I'm done. I've been saying that since... Yesterday..

  • HOLY CATS WERE IN THE BANJO SPAWNING GROUND!

  • my name is Hogndorff Heavyhand Warrior of the Nameless Fear'ed by meny Honered by few. and i spent more times in the old days finding bodys then i did playing.

  • @hogndorff holy shit someone else that played on the nameless

  • /greatersummoncorpse lol

  • I love this!

  • I remember playing a human and you couldn't see shyt without light...man that sucked LOL

  • i remember playing this way when i was a little kid i didnt like it back then but i think this kind of thing would be fun for me now

  • this song taught me that I've been saying mana and rations wrong for almost 10 years.

  • @lykopis whaaaaat? i thought he was saying mana and rations wrong O_o

  • @buddieclub1 hopefully he was lol hell i dunno cause this is the only time ive heard either word be spoken that i can remember.

  • @buddieclub1 Nah... dude has an accent...

  • @buddieclub1 he is saying it wrong...cause the way he said it would be spelled mona and rachions lol

  • The corpse runs, huge exp loss, waiting at the boats, ridiculously long rare mob spawns, no maps, broken quests... Basically every thing people complain about is what made EQ so great. Because of the hardships in the game it made EQ feel like a truly living and breathing world. This will never be captured in a game again and sadly even EQ lost this years ago. :(

  • These where the good old days Eq needs to make a come back people dont know what real gameing is tell they played eq

  • @vlud420 Actually EQ is still alive =] (no not Sony's version). Google up Project1999, a server 100% free to play, thats baesd on Everquest BEFORE any expansions were released. There's actually lots of active players too =] spread the word

  • @vlud420 i really wish they would reface the game with clean sharp gfx, but keep everything else the same, because eq2 was a horrible let down... =(

  • @matthias2986 They did it's called Final Fantasy XI Online Seriously, it's EQ with better graphics.

  • LOVE IT !!

  • Awesome!!!

  • 4Branden4 is a tv star from "how to catch a predator"

  • God, when i hear this i think of my bro who is an EQ brand newbie. Ironic that i have a FREAKIN' LVL 34 MAGE WHO CAN KICK KIS ASS!

  • I miss East commons and west commons and the oasis and when i was like 15 i logged 10 hours in one sitting haha how addicted i was back then even in school all i could think about =) god them where the fun days wow about 2 hours a week lol.

  • @SaberTanker22 10 hours? =P The most I did, and this goes for any game or MMORPG or .. anything .. ever .. or even CLOSE to ever .. was 36 hour session. I've never even gone 10 hours now but .. that one summer day when I was 18 .. SIGH. I started to see Gnomes running around PoK that weren't there. (Well, one Gnome by the bank so it wasn't THAT bad) ..

  • I'm returning to this game today and I'm so excited. It's been months since I've played and I miss everyone. But I wasn't a hard core addict.. =/ I played when all my stuff was done and I wasn't going anywhere. Basically, it was a cure for boredom. Unless I had a raid, then I would fit my raid into my schedule some where. :D I don't care if that sounds bad. Anyway, I love this song, it made me smile. But OMG!! Can we say back in the day?

  • TRAIN TO ZONE!! choo choo get off the tracks TRAAAIIINNNN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol centurion trains were the best!

  • EQ was definately the harshest of the MMO's I've played, between having to run back for your corpse and the exp loss as well.

I sure miss the days back when Sullon Zek was around and the max lvl was 65 :P

  • @4Branden4 I've held a job since I was 16 (same year I started MMO's). It's not really hard to hold a job and play a game on the side lol.

  • @SonicSpeedd You mean play a game and hold a job on the side right? =)

  • world of warcraft maybe?

  • Just got it from steam on sale, been playing for a day now and loving it.

  • Everquest is on Steam for U$ 2.50 until 26/30/2010, if you don't have it, go get it :D

  • @HylianGirl1 26/30?

  • @Hammerman24 what?

  • get a life lady/dude whatever you are.i don't even want to know ehhhhhuggghh,nasty.

  • Everquest was the original hardcore. 6 hour plane of fear corpse runs, trains to zone, non instanced dungeons, kill stealing, camp checks

    All that good stuff

Kids today don't know what they missed :)

  • @4Branden4 Then again, I played this game all day which led to my studying anthropology and, specifically, online communities found in MMORPG's. Currently I work as a consultant to CCP Games for EVE Online. So yes .. kids surely are missing out on playing this game! They really, really don't know what they missed. Here's to another twenty-something working at Hot Topic!

  • @ChefGroovy2

im 12 soon to be 13 next week, and i started playin eq a year ago in october, got a few originals, and i love the game, i learned about it because when i was younger my parents played, i always wanted to play this game

  • Comment removed

  • @ChefGroovy2 eq was the most hardcore mmorpg ever made, hands down! everything about the game is raw!

  • @ChefGroovy2

    yeah ... sounds fun...

    not :p

  • @ChefGroovy2 That sounds... fucking horrible. Time waster for people with no life.

  • @ChefGroovy2 6hours is hardcore? yeah it is.

I remember being in plane of time for 8 hours straight and i wanted to go to bed but the raid leader said:Hey we aren't done yet and i replied:but i'm tired and its 2 o clock in the morning.

  • @ChefGroovy2 I recently tried this game. I'm happy to say I like the Gates of Andaron better

  • I quit playing EQ about 5 years ago, this does bring back some memories.

There is one thing I learned with this game, YOU NEVER EVER lose your corpse, you keep looking for signs on the ground, trees, stones, anything you can see, so when and if you DO DIE you will find your corpse. I developed a map memory with this game. And now tanking in WoW, I never get lost and can help people find things thanks to the lessons learned.

  • lol, in wow the minimap points out the way to your corpse when you die:P you don't need to recognise in wow:P

  • Yes, WoW took most of the complaints people had about EQ and did things differently, particularly corpse retrieval. EQ itself changed this radically and the situation presented here has not been true now for at least 5 years.

Its actually easier in EQ now than in WoW ... but for many of us, getting back to our corpses used to be a regular part of the game.

  • The first time I played it was a few months before they incorporated the...gah I can't even remember the name of it, but it was the place your corpse when to after it decayed.

I had a lvl 10 wizzy and he died and I couldn't find my corpse...so I quit and went to a new server, lol.

Some SHK tried to help me find it but no luck. Or maybe it was a necro, but I think it was a shk.

  • God I love the banjo spawning ground...

  • anyone know a good place to get a good .mp3 of this? love so much

  • Get "Free YouTube to MP3 Converter" and you can rip yourself

  • I can totally relate to this song as I spent many hours at lower lvls looking for my corpse. Brings back memories of some of the biggest trains i have seen

  • I thought that when you died in EQ you stayed dead. D:

  • >8=)

    Fun stuff.

  • @xTHExTASTExOFxINKx

You're that special kind of "stupid"

  • "what would I like my tomestone to say?" ...sigh...such epic nostolgia, lol - i dont miss having to con mobs...mostly...though i miss the fun of having to give a mile's berth to a red conned mob heh..

  • I still laugh like hell when I see this. Great game, great song.

  • BTW - I recognize that broken quest - I did it 4 times and as far as I know it is STILL broken (if it is still available)

  • Not having to do corpse runs anymore is one of the joys of EQ for most people, but I still kinda miss them.

Hrothgarr of Xegony (10+ year veteran)

  • wow nice

  • LOL

  • LMFAO thats funny as hell

  • few thoughts or songs pull so much emotion from me.. its a great song.

  • Damn, I wish I still had my Pally!! Seeing this movie makes me wanne play EQ again!

  • Hahaha this video brings back many memories. Corpse runs were sure ain't fun when you barely know what you were doing in the game. I must say that original EQ rocks though!

  • i am a 85 cleric in this game eq rocks!!!! but when my big brother played when he was little and new to it if it said what would u like your tombstone to say it would say hello? are you alright? lol

  • 5 stars!

  • dude, i still play eq. i've been playing for maybe 10 years. i love it. anybody on the druzzil server? =]

  • @Cyene

    I was until I quit in 2004/5ish

  • this game is epic! bring back lots of memories!

  • No, I thought it would be. I stopped playing at SoL, and played EQ2 for a long time. I rolled a toon on Druzzil, and there are plenty of people.

  • is this game dead?

  • no just not as big as it use to be

  • I never get tired of this vid. Great stuff and great memories. I really miss the run from qeynos to freeport while hitting kithicor at night, "specs to dock!", falling through the fake tree in Blackburrow and dying (never got THAT corpse back), wurmslayer and yak being the uber combo, camping Pizjn and never seeing her, and like the video says- can't see at night with no sense of direction...oh too many to recount!
