Fab mix here! Obviously, when Walt Disney Co. called up Rascal Flatts to do classic Tom Cochrane for Cars, Flatts had no answer to Cochrane's harp (probably a Hohner "bender" 10-hole diatonic in F - I recently purchased a Hot Metal, P/N 572-F, at Guitar Center for a MuzikDriven gig) at the time. This is a "best of both."
Both versions are great, but Tom Cochrane's original is untouchable. Immediately, I go back in time to the 1990's. It still sounds fresh IMO, and one of the greatest songs in the history of music.
I can listen to this song over and over again, and it's always amazing!
It's sad in a way no one knew of Tom Cochrane before this single I was a big fan of Red Rider and I have copies of Mad Mad World and Ragged Ass Road both great albums..and of course my favorite Victory Day...In my opinion he is one of the most underated singer song writers there is...YOU THE MAN TOM...
I only knew the "Canadian" version, who was Tom Cochrane. No offense, but there was no improvement made. Tommy NAILED It!! Immitation is the best form of flattery, n'est pas?
Tom cochrane and Rascal Flatts sing this song great but Tom is the Song writter of Life is a Highway he made it possible for Rascal Flatts...Thank you for a Great song we all love Tom!!!
the only two goor versions of this song are the original by Tom Cochrane and Chris Ledoux's. Rascall Flats' is okay, but really, they are as much country as me -and I am from Germany!
Dan, Life Is A Highway is one of my favorite all-time songs too. I've heard a few remakes of it but none caught my fancy until Rascal Flatts covered it for Cars. The remix of Rascal Flatts and Tom Cochrane gets a high five from me and is added to my video downloads.
