Simon is actually a very nice guy & he truly cares about Susan's well-being. Nobody forces Simon to do anything!

The thing is Susan Boyle had low self-esteem and that probably affected her. And the women I mentioned have extreme confidence and stage presence which makes them attractive. Diva attitude too. But the industry is harder to get into if don't look a certain way but not impossible especially in this day and age.

This lady brings always tears to my eyes. I have seen already quite a few clips with her I have heard her so many times singing and always the same reaction, tears. Angel's voice. I'm so glad she got what she deserved although I cannot stop wishing it was earlier.

Business is still business no matter what. There was a not so good looking chinese guy who sings very well but had never revealed his face behind a cartoon boyish looking guy. His CD sold very well and one day he decided to show his face behind the good voice. He killed his own popularity at that instant. Nobody buy his CD anymore.

Firstly,I must be painfully honest.I do NOT like Simon. He has done enough in the past to warrant this disdainful dislike.It would take a miracle to change this opinion. Never ever judge a book by it's cover until you read it's pages. Good for Susan. She is truly an inspiration to all those who feel shunned because of looks or weight. People are cruel and you'll see in her audition two young ladies giving dirty looks and judging her. Shame on them. I bet any money those two are regretting what they did. Don't give up. Follow your dreams. IT doesn't matter what you look like or who you are. Show them whos boss.

I think people are tired of hooker want-to-bes. It's strange how oversexed this era is. Susan Boyle is a nice funny lady with lots of personality and tons of talent. I just started listening to her music this week, but every song is better than the last. She is really an inspiration. She's proving she's not dead yet, and the under 30 crowd doesn't have what it takes yet at all. They haven't reached her talent yet nor the the character or personality. She was a looker when younger too.

The so-called "rules" that Susan Boyle "broke" were the very rules that should never have been in place all along.
Instead of glorifying a bunch of no-account, untalented BUMS, and holding them up as the gold standard of excellence, REAL talent should have been rewarded.
It happens all the time in the visual arts. We now have a nation full of galleries polluted with absolute CRAP, and artists with actual talent are told to "come back in a couple of years". SICKENING BEYOND WORDS.

i think simon cowell is a ".........." he had to give susan a recording contract because the world was watching. what would he have done to her had she come to him in a local recording studio, he showed his narrow minded attitude when susan came on stage. he was seen by millions to be as judgemental as the audience were not good for his reputation hence the apology in by opinion. everything is big business i wonder if susan really is considered wonderful or just gullible to be exploited.

@bstocksful Please, Simon was going to give her a contract regardless of the outcome of BGT. His mouth dropped open when she started to sing. Simon loves the "tryers" those that never had a break. So far, Susan has sold 8 million albums worldwide. The "audience" behind him during an audition adds impact to the audition because the judges can see how the crowd reacts. Simon is actually a very nice guy & he truly cares about Susan's well-being. Nobody forces Simon to do anything!

Simon has stated many times that he simply ADORES Susan and that he chats with her every couple of weeks. I think in this interview he is trying to convey to people how badly he feels about being so judgemental of her BEFORE she opened her mouth to sing. He didn't have to offer her a recording contract unsure of how it would sell, but he did and look where she is now!!! She had the biggest selling album in the WORLD for 2009!!! We all adore her too!!
