  • It's a pity. So much work going to waste. Plug the plug and that's it.

  • The best MMORPG ever, this game was a real MMO.

Look at WoW or the other mainstream shit.

I will always miss SWG, thank you SOE for the nice years, thanks europe-farstar, thanks the people on farstar, i will miss you all!

In love Sintos Vel (Master Bounty Hunter)

  • er...played for nearly 5 years and loved every second of it** stupid lag made my comment fail. :S

  • That was beyond gorgeous. A fitting tribute to the end of an amazing game. I played for nearly of it. While I enjoy TOR, I will always miss SWG.

  • Can't help but think on it. All sorts of videos are coming up in response to the end of Swg. The comparisons of Swg to Tor made quite often actually hail Swg as being a better game ironically. I have to wonder, in retrospect, with the shutdown of Swg and Tor being it's 'replacement', if Swg is actually becoming the new 'Hype' as the real quality of the game, now that it's gone, is being brought to bear full force, being an 8 years old in comparison to a game that has just been released.

  • Wanted to say thanks again to the author for such a great job on the awesome tribute, and thanks for accepting my video response. I figured heck, my little video there of the gunship I had is one little example amongst the massive amount of high quality and unique content only Swg could provide for players. Let's see if Tor content can ever compare with some of that now :)

  • I was completely confused on how this game worked, but after playing it for about 5 years, I came to love the SWG community, and having it all torn away from me by pulling a single plug just to make room for another game really killed a part of me.

  • To be perfectly honest, move on people. Maybe it was good, maybe it wasn't. But its part of an old dying breed of MMO, along with WoW, EQ 1 and 2, EVE, etc. Time to let the new guys in.

  • It's really hard to believe that Swtor has more/less replaced Swg. Okay, the ground combat is better, and graphics are better, etc. That is not even close to being enough to compare to what Swg had. Swtor to me, looks like EQ2. Small compressed areas, little freedom, just run around the same areas and kill stuff. What they should have done was just made a massive update to Swg in graphics, combat/etc. I'm becoming more and more reluctanct to even bother trying Swtor.

  • its gone, and any one who dident join back on time was locked out, i was... so sad to see it go this game was like nothing else its hard not to think back to the good times on there

  • wow there's many thing i never saw in swg that were in this video : obiwan vs anakin, yoda, obiwan vs darth vader?! I suppose that was all added after i left in 2006 not long after the nge...

  • Zak, we need to swap contact information. :S

    Message me bro

  • @TeTalycMandalore Play TOR. I'm on the Canderous Ordo server (coincidence, by the way).

  • @ThirdAgeFilms Working on it, just upgraded my graphics card, and still need to upgrade my ram, which is part of the reason I need to talk to you. Dunno that I can run it yet :S

  • This is without a doubt one of the best mmo's i have ever played i was on starsider server and if someone from that server reads this u will be missed i had the best time playing with u all !!!!

  • That was an amazing tribute. Very well done. I am going to miss SWG.

  • 2h 30min queue in freedon nadd! i've been in the queue for 5h because i crashed and i'm not even in yet! but this video is very cool congrats.

  • goosebumps :(

  • Awesome video!

  • This video makes my soul cry. So beautiful

  • Beautiful tribute. Bravo. Had some wonderful times in that game.

  • I've not played SWG since 2007, but I was extremely sad to hear that it has been shut down. Feels like losing an old friend. At launch and for a few years beyond it was the most ambitious and most enthralling game I've every played. Great video, great memories.

  • Pretty cool to see so many things I made for this game in this video. :)

  • Beautiful video. Beautiful memories. Thank you. ~Brasse

  • Thank you for this. I'll be at my desk trying not to cry.

  • It's been an hour? My God.

  • i'm sorry, i couldn't finish watching this time, started to cry around 1:40...

  • Kind of reminds me of when there.com a virtual world closed.. :/ but that virtual world is beginning to open back up now. Friends are really what make a game like an mmo so much fun :)

  • its over. never forgotten.

  • *Tears* Great Video, made me cry. if anyone has screen shots or videos they want to share, I just started a FB page called "RIP Star Wars Galaxies" . A place for players to share their experiences and keep in touch.

  • Sad.. the true Star Wars MMO is gone

  • If anyone wants to continue playing SWG after it shuts down, you should check out SWGEmu. Its basically pre-cu SWG, and its free. It isnt finished yet, but every week they get a little bit closer. Its completly legal, and I have a feeling that JTL is right around the corner, seeing as they already have atmospheric flight on the test server.

  • Thanks for such an awesome video! It brings a tear to my eye. I will miss SWG, it was my first MMO.

  • nicely done video a giant fuck you and all of your mothers to SOE and lucas arts for fisting the asshole off what could have and should have been the greatest game in the world. fuck you julio torres how's that for star warsy and iconic you fucking faggot??????????????

  • @2:18 with the rebel gcw flags lined up--that is where the shivers started and at 4:12 on musty is when the tears fell . such a great run of a great game! thanks again for the memories!

  • I cried.

  • Art thou emotions irate, brother?

  • Thank you for this video. It's a shame the game is shutting down... so much potential...

  • That was a wonderful tribute! I only played for a year and just as I get able to play again I find out it is being terminated. I will truly miss the friends I made through this game. RIP SWG!

    <3 Tayana (eclipse)

  • After spending eight years of my life playing Star Wars Galaxies, I can honestly say that its going away is like the loss of a childhood friend. No game will ever come close to being the experience that SWG was for me. The Old Republic may have its merits, and say what you will about it, but it will never come close, will never have the feeling of community that SWG did. Rest easy, Galaxies. It was a good run.

  • @Triloh amen brother

  • I for one am glad, GLAD that this game is shutting down. Many hundreds, even thousands of players got shafted royally due to SOE's own arrogance and ineptness. They deserve to get what is coming to them. I'm already REALLY looking forward to SW:TOR. I already BETA'd for it and it's a thousand times better than this giant pile of garbage. If they had simply left the game alone before tinkering with it. Maybe this wouldn't have happened.

  • Forgot to mention..nice tribute.

  • I played the SWTOR beta for 1 weekend, then logged onto SWG since I have an acoount ( only lvl 26 smuggler). I decided to hold off on SWTOR for now and canceled my pre-order..just don't think it will have the ambiance of the Star Wars universe that I felt in my short play times in SWG ( is it the force maybe, ha ha) I'm sure I'll SWTOR a try someday but clunky or not Star Wars Galaxies really captured the Star Wars universe very well.

  • Wow man, totally awesome tribute... I've been gone from SWG for about 4 months now, just when you start missing it and want to come back... it dies. Man, this tribute just made me that much less enthusiastic about Swtor coming out... Swg has always ruled all other mmo's in so many areas Imo, I highly doubt Swtor will ever have even close to the overall volume of content and freedom. Shame they didn't just knock it all down to a few servers.. or *something*..

  • Now I want to cry...

... Amazing job on the video.

  • Im gonna miss this game...yea it had its up and downs...its glitches..but what game DOES'NT have that...but we all will love this game FOREVER

  • Great Video, I know i will miss SWG forever.

  • m8 I loved ya Video that you, and ya friends had made! Loved the usic in it. Awesome instrumentals!

  • Beautiful work.....Dec. 15th will be a truly sad day for all who still love the game...and to have it fall to a game that cant hold a candle to it only cuts the wound deeper....as Switch said in matrix: "Not like this............ Not like this "

  • Nice vid.

  • Wow. Great video, I'm speechless.

  • So many memories =;( but i like forward to a great game and a great RP guild on tor. One can only hope it is as amazing as this.

Rheey or Jack if ur watching this, I apoligize for how things ended.

  • Quite possibly one of the saddest things I've seen in a long time. But I keep coming back to watch it again. Thank you for this.

  • D:

  • Great video, really got the emotions flowing. Will never forget this game, from starting back in 2005 to the present so many memories and great friends made. /EU-Farstar, Kakll.

  • Wonderful... made me cry a little bit. Very well done, and very sad that it's being shut down. I continue to be amazed at the quality of the visuals in this game. And as was said here, so many tings I have not seen....

  • so many things I have not seen.... and will never see D':

  • This was great. It's a shame that the game had to change so much but either way SWG has left an imprint on me and will always be remembered with the most sentimental of memories. It was a great run.

  • good work

  • after 8 years of playing this game that video made me cry... I am going to miss this game but the I am going to miss the great people I played with even more

  • Thank you for making this and sharing it. SWG was different from any MMO in so many ways that made it fun. I will truly miss it, the friends I made and cherish the memories! You did a brilliant job of putting together audio and video here to create something to look back on in a beautiful bittersweet tone. /salute Bria.Breccia, started playing the day it came online and will probably shed a few tears when it goes down that last time.

  • Claps for the end.

  • This stirred my love for SWG :). It was one hell of a ride from the birth of my character and going through the game, watching a collection of pixels transforming into a almost real person with a identity. The experiences shared with friends and foe alike, the depth of realism acheived and what not. Definately was one of the best if not the best. RIP SWG...RIP Azeul Areav

  • @Abelkmr92 transform*

  • Awesome video. Sucks that the game is going away after playing for over 8 years.

  • Thank you for making such a great video. SWG was the most fun i have had in an MMO world. Great game and great people playing it. Good luck to all post 12.15.11 .

  • What a nice tribute! I am also saddened that SWG is going away. It was a large part of my life for many years. It really has improved greatly over the years. I don't think we'll ever see a new sandbox style MMO like it for a long long time. - Pex (Former Online Events Manager for SWG)

  • I quit SWG in 05, 07 and 09. And this video makes me wish I had never quit any of those years, and it makes me miss such a great game I will never have the pleasure of playing again. (SWGEmu of course, but it's not the same)

  • Extremely well done to be honest, makes it look a lot better than it actually is

  • Very easy the best sandbox mmo ever, and mabey the best mmo ever. I sure hope to someday see a crafting/housing/community game as good as this again. One where players have to depend on each other, but to be honest I am not sure. Today's mmo'er almost wants someone to just play the game for them other then trying to learn and find new adventures. I am playing EQ2 which is close but still not SWG. RIP thx for the great years!

  • R.I.P SWG. Maybe we'll get a game as good as this was before the.. update some day.

  • Depressing.

  • My god... I do hope that SWTOR will live up to all that SWG has done for the MMO universe. SWG was truely the most innovative MMORPG of all time.

Oh how I wished that I had given SWG more of a chance...

I hope to see you all in the next life of Star Wars The Old Republic.

And oh how I hope that TOR will more than fill the massive black hole that SWG will leave in the hearts of thousands.

  • Sir, this video has moved me. I never played the game for more than a week, but this video makes it seem like a huge world and I can varely imagine the load of good moments you must have had there.

I think this is a very good tribute

  • @Hollarator Troll better next time.

  • @Hollarator Fuck you, you little motherfucker. Go suck a dick, this game is the best MMO I've played. Yeah, there's going to be a few bugs here and there, but overall there's nothing that can be compared to this game. This was made BEFORE WoW, so it didn't steal the way WoW makes their game. It's unique, along with it's community. To all the haters of this game, you never played all of this game. It was a well made game.

I wish there was a way to stop it. </3

  • I have never played SWG but OMG this game looks AMAZING i wish i could have had a chance to play it

  • Awesome compilation, great tribute to SWG. Thanks for putting this together. I'm gonna miss this game!

  • bravo, bravo!

  • AMAZING! I've played SWG for more than 5 years (NGE era) and I loved it!

This video is truly great tribut to the game!

    Well done.

  • absolutely beautiful dude. brings back all those years of memories. Ill miss this game big time.... i hope TOR can be half as good.

  • You could have turned the terrible shadows off. Other than that, nice.

  • fuck me thank you... i love this game and i am not looking forward or ready to say good bye yet.

That was amazing. You have captured what we all love in this game. What an amazing job. Thank you for sharing with us. I will watch this over and over, for as long as it is on you tube.

  • i honestly can tell you now that this has been a INCREDIBLE game. The game that has brought this one to its knees, has nowhere near the thousands of levels of depth that SWG does. It never will. I am generally 100% sure that even though it was a game, the community so nestled within itself and each and every single person, will shed a tear when its shut down. they are not just gamers. they actually spent 8 years of they're, money and effort to play with there friends that shared one interest RIP

  • @KAV567 Well said. It was those layers that held me for 5+ years. Even with all of it's problems no game comes close to the depth that SWG had. It will be missed.

  • @KAV567 Indeed, I will miss SWG. There are people that say they won't miss it once it is shut down but in all truth we created people in that game that we share memories with. Memories of adventure, friends, and Star Wars! It is hard to believe I spent 5 years playing. I Beta Tested SWTOR and SWG couldn't have a better game to take its place. It may not have the crafting skills and some other features SWG does but its something to keep your SWG character alive and play with old friends.

  • @KAV567

I was crying just watching this video. I will miss SWG more than I can say.

  • .... This is great! I only wish this wasn't shutting down because my computer wont be able to run the new one.

  • All of those saber animations look different then what I use. But good job! :D

  • SWG = ond

  • Really sad that I can't be in the game for the last two months. Something went wrong with the last payment in September and I just learned that after the 15th of Sept. and SOE won't open my account again. Had this account for 8 years, kinda sad to know I'll never be able to play it again.. Well, actually in case I won't find another accoun I'll actually never be able to play the game again :I

  • Great! this is going to my fav list!

  • Too many memories in this game... I won't never forget them !

  • this video game me goosebumps, and made me really emotional for a good reason.

  • simply wonderful, a beautiful capture of a world were soon to be with out.

going to be weird not having my home away form home once Galaxies is gone.

  • Great video.

It would have been better with Star Wars music, though, in my opinion.

  • That was really well done, I applaud you.

Though a tip in the future for the cursor in the middle of the screen. Holding down right click in free cursor mode will eliminate the cursor, and you will be able to drag and rotate the screen to any direction you want.

  • @TurkishPhantom Right, I figured it out towards the end of filming, but by then it was too late to go back and re-do everything.

  • I will miss this game tremendously... AMAZING compilation. Catches my favorite moments very well. *tears*

Ah well... TOR here I come!!

  • great video and great game....to bad this trash world we live in this game gets flushed in tha toilet and junk games flood tha market

anyone involved in the death of this game buisness people, developers and players....best stay hidden

  • Swgemu.com check it out the galaxie still lives on and for all those Pre-cu lovers u will love the EMU it is amazing what the team has completed so far join us at swgemu.com and support the emu dev team

  • i don't remember axkva min looking so cute before

  • Very beautiful. thank you for creating this.

  • I liked it. Very well done. But I personally would have liked it more with Star Wars music. Other than that very minor nitpick, this is very good. I should hire you to be an editor for one of my flicks.

  • NIce video! Too bad it has to end soon. But hey, life goes on. I personally can't wait for swtor.

  • This was so awesome...it made me wanna cry. 8 years of my life away from my real life. 8 years of good friends, good stories, and good times. Years of the grind, epic quests, instances, space battles, pvp...I'm gonna miss it all so much. So many good times. RIP SWG you'll always be an important part of my childhood memories.

  • @XxInTheUnblindxX I feel your pain I watched with a lump in my throat I spent 8 years with this game and have loved every second of it!

  • @morpheus2n Same here. At least theyre going out with a bang. Atmospheric flight and more pvp is pretty sweet. I'm going on until the end. But man I feel old. I remember waiting for this game to come out. Hard to believe that was over 8 years ago.

  • SHIT

  • Wow that was fucking beautiful. <3

  • @LtAgar Two words I'm not used to seeing side-by-side... but thank you. ^.^

  • Excellent tribute, nice work.

It's especially heartbreaking now they're adding more cool stuff like atmospheric flight and gcw2. RIP SWG

  • Excellent tribute, nice work.

It's especially heartbreaking now they're adding more cool stuff like atmospheric flight and gcw2. RIP SWG

  • Will miss you SWG :(

Best three years of my gaming life :) xx

    RIP

  • Will miss you SWG :(

Best three years of my gaming life :) xx

    RIP

  • Watching this video broke my heart.

The new mmo is going to be such shit compared to swg. You cant write the kind of stories we told ourselves in our constantly evolving world.

    RIP SWG.

  • Very nice. Many many memories....

  • Fantastically done, Zakir. I am proud of you, and I miss you very much.

    Love, your brother from Shadowfire.

  • Beautiful! The game many end, but our memoires will last forever.

@58sec into the film... where is that at?

  • @TheRugosaRose That's in the Mustafar Crystal Lair, at the end of the Obi-Wan quests.

  • Great Video.

  • It's a good video but why did you time the screen transitions to the music?? A lot of the transitions felt rushed. A lot of great memories non the less.

  • @Stile2112 Timing the transitions is the entire point of a music video like this, doing it any other way just feels sloppy and unprofessional. I agree that the music was a little fast-paced in general, but the transitions shouldn't feel "rushed" when they happen with the music. Anyway, thank you for the feedback.

  • My first mmorpg, my house, my buffs, my credits, my strippers, my jedi, and my collections and guild were second to none. It's sad the content was the ebst, but it was what we made of it, Sony didnt do so ad........i miss the good ole days though.

  • This was my first MMO I paid monthly for as a kid, and spent a lot of time playing it. I was the first to introduce it to my friends too. :)

I'm not gonna lie... I have a LOT of memories cherished with this MMO, and I had met many cool friends I will never hear from again.

R.I.P SWG, it was something trying so hard, with such little funding

    x

  • It would of been better with a Nickelback song in the background

  • @piggywild "Would have", actually.

    Very close, nice try.

  • SWG may Die,but we have to put our Hopes in the Emu now,its only a Matter of time till they Finished the Emu, and then Modders can add new Content themselves =3

  • Idiots should have made it free-to-play rather than shutting it down. There would have been a larger player base that way.

  • @stockloc It wasn't their call. Lucasarts didn't renew their license, most likely so The Old Republic could release without any "competition".

  • It hurts, 3 of my toons in the video, What really hurts is the loss of this game. Thank you for the wonderful video, and giving me something to watch in these end days.

  • @Kenman540 I know, we're all going to miss it when it's gone. Thanks for the kind words, Leshia, and thanks for all your involvement with the instance filmings. :)

  • im gonna miss it great game always somethin to do their is/never will be a game like this

  • Very nice video Kyranna, thank you for this

  • What is the original instrumental name of this song ?

  • @cjk21 The instrumental is Wyatt's Torch, by Immediate Music.

  • @ThirdAgeFilms THX !!!

  • THANKS!!!

  • Nice vid, but for me SWG died when the NGE was released. Never went back after that.

  • i want to play this so bad

  • Made me sad =( Struck right at the core of SWG

  • This is EPIC great editing aswell

  • @Opiewan78 Thanks, Opie! I think your duels turned out quite well.

  • This was awesome! However, for a video called "The world we wrote" and a game as packed full of player created content, you showed so very little of the worlds we actually DID create together. No other game can touch SWG in this regard and let's not forget that. :)

  • Oddly devastated.

Used to play SWG ridiculous amounts years ago when I got "Sever Full" messages. Years later and a Veteran now I thought I would revisit my favorite game of all times only to find it's ending. The dynamics of the game were incredible. The NGE happened while I was in Iraq, but I heard rough stories. I'm highly anticipating The Old Republic and know that game will conquer even the hardest critics.

  • this film really moves me, the things I've done, the places I've been, the people I've met, friends I've made, and all because of SWG and the wonderful community it has become... why they'd destroy a community like the one we've built is beyond me...

  • Awesome job, man. /thumb up

  • Saw a handful of costumes I was asked to make in that video. Very well done and a wonderful tribute to this amazing world we call SWG

  • Great job on this video, it's perfect. I'll be crushed when SWG finally ends, but having stuff like this to go back to every now and then will make it easier on all of us. =)

  • Great Video!

  • well done. good in game camera work.

  • Wonderfully done!

  • Good stuff.
