  • Hello David- I'm a doc filmmaker too! Please iMDB me! Luke Sacher

  • @Poisonshady313 That is what most people say but it's incorrect and based on smoking analog cigarettes not e-cigs. Smokers are as addicted to other chemicals in cigs not just nicotine. Once away from regular cigs and only using a cleaner nicotine, your addictions drops way down to almost nil. I do not crave nicotine at all anymore and can go for days without an ecig - I do enjoy the nicotine in e-cigs because unlike in cigs, it has a stronger stimulant effect but no addiction cravings.

  • I cannot find this video on your website. What is the exact name of it?

  • @TheElectricRider I am sorry, but at the present time, this film of mine is not available for sale on DVD. I have just not converted from its one-inch master.

  • Scott Stapf is right. There is more to continuing to smoke besides just the addiction to it. People love to smoke. People enjoy smoking, even though they know it will possibly kill them in the end. That's why Electronic Cigarettes are so popular. People can still enjoy "smoking" without the harm of inhaling burning tobacco. After 22 years of smoking I quit using an e-cig when nothing else would work. I love using the e-cig because it made me a Non Smoker. Does the documentary talk about ecigs?

  • @TheElectricRider E-cigs are so popular because nicotine addicts can feed their addiction in a safer way, in more public places. People make excuses for their addiction, claim to enjoy it. The reality is, they can't stand the thought of life without it. The pleasure smokers get from smoking is a relief of the agitation caused by smoking in the first place. It's all about the nicotine. E-cigs are certainly a less dangerous nicotine delivery method... but that's what it is. Nicotine addiction.

  • the tiltle doesent makes any sense

    lolz

  • Well done..

  • Is that man still alive? This video was uploaded in 2009, It's 2011 as of now, but the interview could of taken place like in 2005. Juust curious. Does anyone know?

  • I thought the old mans plan was pretty cool, until he started being a dick about the indians and tobacco.

    Also marijuana>tobacco.

  • its our lungs let us fuck them up if we want too.. i mean as long as smokers are respectfull and dont smoke around you if you dont want it.. then leave us alone.. some people have stresful lives.. let us deal with it our own way

  • Cigars are for people who want to enjoy ,so are pipes!

Cigarettes are for people who just want to have something to do if tehyre bored

  • Was this in BBC'S we love cigarettes?

  • i use to smoke like a chimney for 20 years, up to 60 a day, i gave up cause its very exspensive here, $20 for a pack of 40, i think the tax is 80% here, in australia here the government makes $8 billion a year on that tax alone, this is why its still legal

governments are racking in the dough =), anyhow i'm against people or govs telling one what to do, its your life.

  • I love smoking, that shit owns

  • just smoke WEED

  • indians were addicted to cannibus.

  • But them trail bosses smoked cigars not cigarettes.

  • is this part of a doco? can you gimme a name please mate?

  • @ITouchTheElderly Think you for asking. The documentary is on my website, thehoffmancollection. It is part of a one-hour documentary I made for PBS. David Hoffman–filmmaker

  • @allinaday Is it possible to view it without purchasing it?

  • @FieldMarshalRommel23 I am afraid that it is not. I am an independent filmmaker who makes my living from the documentaries that I make. My prices for my DVD purchases are low and usually people find it worth it when they buy one of my films. Thank you for asking.

    David often

  • Your smoking filter bro

  • What year is this from??

  • Are you rich?

  • this fucking pisses me off, the freemason drug lords duped sheep on this drug, and alcohol eary on. cannabis being a main topic for why they wanted the sales from the tobacco, alcohol, and pharmacuticel drugs. if cannabis use was 'just a choice' there would be a fucking low ass drop in drugs, money, and despair, o poor government. they make me sick, and i feel sorry for druggatics, hypocrites, and ignorant people. peace n properity

  • Shit, I need a smoke... Boy, I love dem Cowboy Killers!

  • not all tobacco is addicting

cigars and pipe tobacco is at least ment to be enjojed and not to be addicted to

  • @mudcrock

That's semi-true. It really depends if you inhale, and if you don't inhale then you're not enjoying it, lol.

  • @mussman717word true but over time the smoke chemicals could be absorbed inn your moulth besides if it isnt a cigar or pipe tobaco what the point? (not arguing just stating an opnion)

  • @mudcrock you. are. retarded.

  • @mudcrock pipe smoking and cigars are worse that anything.. Cigarettes are ment to be

enjoyed also.. But all tobacco is addicting.. Who do people bother with any of that stuff??

  • @mudcrock

    Pipe tobacco is addictive...

My uncle went straight into smoking a pipe, and hasnt stopped for 40 odd years

  • he's old but he knows his stuff

  • What is really amazing about smoking is that people actually needed to be told by other people that it was bad for them. I mean, when you first started smoking did it cause you to hack and cough and even puke in many cases? That might be a sign this is BAD for you, and no one needed anyone else to tell them that. This is and always has been a common sense issue. Just the same as how fire will burn you if you get too close to it. Well, cigarettes will kill you if you smoke them. Duhhhhhh.

  • cigarettes are addicting, the only reason they are still sold is because they bring in so much money

  • @zackdaripr

Isn't that how everything else works?

    lrn2economics

  • Interesting to learn about the history of smoking. It certainly did not repel me, but rather intrigue me. I do have to admit that I caught myself with the fact I rolled three cigarettes while watching this short documentary.

  • ok that makes a lot of sense.

if people no about how bad smoking is for you and still do it then its up to them i think.

  • @1000ouija

Thanks you, sir, for respecting my right.

  • well, the MOMENT my child asks for a smoke I will give it to him and make sure he is traumatized enough to never try it again. I smoke full flavored pipe tobacco filter less in cigarettes. This might sound kind of fucked up, but I can't wait to see the look on his face when he nearly throws up a lung trying to smoke.

  • The great voice of narrator Peter Thomas..A class act. I have a nice letter and and autographed picture of him..

  • thk u for uploading this video!

  • why is another one of your videos commentated by a woman and another a man?

  • Thank you for asking. I believe that both a man or a woman can be a great voiceover narrator -- a storyteller if you will. But sometimes it seems that a woman's voice will be more dramatic and carry more emotion and sometimes a man's. That is why I use both.

    David Hoffman - filmmaker

  • nice work
