In HOPE, that my lord is my sheppard he will guide and comfort me! And finally in LOVE because the greatest of these is LOVE! We need to Love our enemies as much as we love ourselves! It is easy to love those you like. Really how hard is that? But its hard to love those you don't like! I try to remember this "I love you. I would rather die than hate you."
I usualy talk to my enemies and pretend not to know that they don't like me (there aren't many people who don't like me) but when I come across someone who doesen't I just ask them "straight out" If they have a problem with me (very nicely) and their shocked at first, and then a "line of communication" is opened and we talk. Usually it's a misunderstanding, or something else, but it's all worth it so I can sleep at night with a clear conscience.
I keep my enemies close, I talk to them, I have forgiven them for whatever they have done to me and I keep them on a friendly basis. That does not mean that I have not forgot why I made them my enemy, nor does that mean that they are my true friend. I watch them, look at their overall appearance and just listen to their "bad day" stories and smile on the inside, knowing that my belief in karma is true.
You a simple pacifist that unwittingly preaches from the safety of your podium which has been given to you and defended by those with the courage to stand and fight our enemies. Don't try to ride MLK's coat tails. He was talking about a very different enemy. Would you try to love a charging lion that does not know better?

I suspect the loving your enemies aspect is religion based. Since religion is not something I have much of I'm not so sure I need to love all my enemies and people who have done me wrong. For me whenever an enemy or perceived threat comes at me I try to be passive and just let it roll off my back because getting into a fight about whatever it may be isn't going to bring happiness to any party. I may still get annoyed while the person comes at me still, but I try think of it as, since I don't have to go home and deal with them they can't really bother me that much since they be out of my hair soon enough.

I used to handle my enemies poorly but I felt a certain shift in my heart a few weeks ago, and it has stuck pretty good.
The love but not like thing, yes so extremely true.
Why should there ever be a reason to dislike people??? But more importantly why are there so many people intent on using dislike as their main psychological feature... and more honorably to note, why do we mimic this in an attempt to negate it??

I co-excist with my enemies as long as they pose no active threat to me. Eventually most of em come to like me, and the other way around, cuz most hostility is based on misconceptions. Well how I deal with my enemies is ignore them.I would want to physically fight my enemy but I think of all the negatives that would happen if I do so.being a high school student If caught fighting i would probably be suspended,possibly expeled,I would have more added on to my already fuked up police record.The positives would be I kicked that mutha f*#%@$ ass,relieved my anger and stress and i would of gained more reputation as "a guy who will back up what he says".

I know now not to hate back because that is how their hate gets inside of me. I just continue to be who i am and what God created me to be. Sooner or later people accept you because you are not seeking their approval. Generally, people will respect you as long as you respect yourself. People hate because they hate themselves. It is what is inside of them, it rarely has anything to do with you. People need someone or something to hate.if it wasn't you they hate it would be someone else.

the fact that someone doesnt like you does not make them your enemy, in order for they become one you must first see them as an enemy. If you always look them with love, not the fake love of " i love everyone, i really do". im talking about the love for human nature, if you hate another human, you are hating yourself for you are a human.

I suspect the loving your enemies aspect is religion based. Since religion is not something I have much of I'm not so sure I need to love all my enemies and people who have done me wrong. While I totally respect Dr. King and his opinions, I'm not so sure all types of enemies can be lumped into one nice neat category deserving my love. Some people have an ability to be so nasty, mean and evil that it's perhaps better to simply disassociate from them. No love or hate, just move on so to speak.

It's amazing to see how many people responded negatively to your 'love your enemies' video.
2000 years later, and the sermon on the mount that the preacher MLK Jr was quoting still does not make any sense to "haters" of race and in general.

nuhoh, people respond negatively because the greatest enemy of these haters is their own self and the denial of SELF. They deny their own SELF-AWARENESS, SELF-RESPECT, and SELF-ESTEEM and take out those insecurities on others. This is where hatred in it's many forms (including racism) come from. In fact, it's not HATRED, it's FEAR. The opposite of LOVE is FEAR and the reason these people cannot love others is that they FEAR THEMSELVES. They hate in humanity what they hate in themselves.

I'm proud of myself for not getting angry for things people say. I have a very relax personally but when I do get angry I don't fight. I rather try and get my point across. I'm half black and half dominican with a college degree and hoping to get a Masters in art. I already know someone in the world won't like you for some stupid reason. In a way I welcome it because it would makes me stronger and a better person.
For those who hate others, ask yourself what good would it bring you?

For me whenever an enemy or perceived threat comes at me I try to be passive and just let it roll off my back because getting into a fight about whatever it may be isn't going to bring happiness to any party. I may still get annoyed while the person comes at me still, but I try think of it as, since I don't have to go home and deal with them they can't really bother me that much since they be out of my hair soon enough.
