The logic is this: vegetarians dont' care because we can't control people. I choose not to eat meat because of moral and health reasons. Meat eaters do so because of their own choices. There are more recipes for hearty vegetarian meals than there are for meat meals. You can only do so much with meat. There are many recipe books for vegetarians out there. I suggest go to the book store and browse a few and see what you like.
I would suggest learning some Indian style dishes, tons of flavor, good for you, very filling, and simple to make once you get them down.
As for protein, eggs, cheese, yogurt, and tofu are great, but don't overdo the tofu. Tempeh is great too, roast it with a little bit of peanut butter and some spices(I like just a *tiny* bit of steak rub).

You are not a vegan you are a vegetarian and that totally different. Vegetarian can even be a "sports" hunter because we know most do not eat the carcass but dump it to the pantries. To CROSISBORG........I think i know why he thinks meat eaters are disgusting.........some people who try to eat certain foods (mostly a food never eaten before or for years) develop a bad physical reaction to them, such as puking. B12 is also sourced from milk. Eating meat is not a "must". There are millions of lifetime vegetarians that are likely more healthy than you and me. Also ever hear of vitamins? The B12 in vitamins is more stable and readily digested than from meats as its source is not the same.

I would not eat an insect for the same reason I dont eat meat. I do not want to kill it. I also, through cultural influences, think it would be nasty. If you were to ask me whats better overall I would say insects are better as they could be farmed without devastating the environment and have a less evolved nervous system. As far as nature goes, insects dont have "meat" in them as we know it and would be safer to eat.

about the "we were not evolved to eat meat" thing, we WERE evolved to eat meat, just that the discovery of fire for instance made our jaw muscles need to become less strong to do the same thing, which also let more space be taken for our brains. We're carnivores at the base, we just learned to use other food sources along the way.

And we can only digest plants thanks to the bacteria living in our intestins, not much else is digested other than by them. Our canines are only small because of the discovery of fire, which tenderized our food and made us need less powerful teeth and so on. Also, the chemicals and hormones don't make us any stronger, they seem to cause more cancer and stuff than anything, that mostly comes thanks to lack of long-term testing and we end up paying for it in the long run.
