  • no one will understand what happend through those years. this song is the closest thing and gets down to detail.the whole album expresses it the way it ought to be. once you listen to one song your hooked you have got 2 listen to it all. my dad got me a tape with the album on it. i cherished that tape. my favorite song was "the king has called me home". i loved the album and if anyone gets as good as waylon you sould honestly tell someone because not many come like him

  • ok take all the politics out of it who see s the music for what it is fantastic.

  • @MovingTo Norway Your comment was not necessary at all. The Confederacy was all about states' rights. It was not about pride or slavery. Idiots like you remind me why this country is headed in the wrong direction. And inbreeds? Do a little research before you assume all southerners are that way. And the south grows much of the food you eat. Unless you'd rather hunt and gather for a living I suggest keeping your mouth shut.

  • Dixie, Your'e done, Now move the fuck on you inbreed pricks!

  • @MovingToNorway Yes, I think you've described yourself very well, so please heed your own advice, and leave your yankee comments with our people who will kindly shove it back up your nose.

  • @sugarfoot59 LOL, LOL, I like it! It was short, sweet and very much to the point.

  • @MovingToNorway hay smart ass we still are heer arnt we? huh? we are and we can very mutch re-construct our contry.

  • @redconfederate Thank for your reply to my comment, unfortunately you have forgotten provide a "Translate this page" button.

As a result of this, I have NO FUCKING IDEA what it is you are trying to say!

  • This is my favorite song of the collection. It paints a picture of the mindset of the south for me I think misguided is a fair description on alot of things but I guess everyone was misguided one way or another.

  • yankee, go home

  • I love Waylon!

  • To stand alone and cut America in two means everything's lost... To leave the Union is to weaken what is strong...

  • @ColbertandStewartpwn , do you really believe that our union is strong? Jobs are gone which will never return; the national debt is out of control; our money grows less valuable every day; our "representatives" truly don't care what we think. You really want to preserve this mess? What does the Union offer that we cannot provide for ourselves? "When they shall cry, peace and safety, peace and safety, then shall the end come".

  • @takethehighway711 You are right the unions way is was an ignorant decision.

  • @takethehighway711 heehahahe.. that is the same thing the South was saying in 1860! the more things change the more they stay the same,.. look once the banks and big business won their war in 1865 they controlled it all and still do, (see oil) the book that was written then was called - give the dog a bone- it was a republican book, telling how to make the people believe they are free but giving them nothing, like when you give a dog a bone to keep him happy.

  • @kingslegion1 , I don't get your point. What "bone" have we been thrown?

  • @takethehighway711 the bone is the idea that you are still voting for your leaders and they are representing your interests when in fact the corporations are running it all, this was the biggest argument the south had with the north, think about it .. before then no one would have let themselves be called a TAX payer beause they were citizens with rights, not just existing to pay taxes so the elite can live better. nodays folks are so ignorant that they call themselves taxpayer pridefully.

  • @kingslegion1 , amazing! You're one of the few people I've ever met who realizes that the War of Northern Aggression was over taxes, not slavery.

  • @takethehighway711 I tend to think the same way, as most think that the War was strictly over slavery, but in reality, slavery was only PART of the problem, but nonetheless, it was a PART of the problem, and I cannot say it wasn't. History will show, that although slavery had it's impact, the animosity toward each other of the sections, was existing long before the 1860's, and included much more than just the slavery issue.

  • @takethehighway711 well slavery was an issue, just not THE issue, the issue with slavery was > who was to decide it< the fed or the states. this was the only reason slavery was an issue. the south understood if you loose this fight then next you have the fed meddeling in the schools and in private life as in abortion and marriage as we see today.. these issues are social morale issues which are left to the states by the constitution and not given to the fed. but now have been taken over by them.

  • @kingslegion1 You are right, Slavery would have died out in the south as it was, with advances in mechanization, becoming inefficient. The main cause of the war was that the government denied the rights of the individual states. The initial cause of the rebellion of the "United States in Congress" was the right of succession from a tyranny, a right conveniently forgotten "Four score and ten" years later. I am an Englishman who's ancestor fought as an artilleryman with Jackson's brigade

  • @takethehighway711 With the other states opening up, it was more to do with maintaining the stutus quo of the ruling class, than the freedom of any slave [much as slavery is to be deplored ] Lincoln only granted freedom to the slaves in the South , not the Northern slaves.

  • ya you got a hell of an idea, truely an American story

  • DEO VINDICE!

  • @WestTexasRebel Amen, brother!!

  • @WestTexasRebel Amen, brother!

  • @WestTexasRebel Right on!!

  • Sono molti anni che corro dietro a guesto disco..... ho avuto tra e mani il vinile ma mi è sfuggito ...... oggi ho trovato il CD sono molto felice...... è splendido.... Bianca.

  • Hey amcelt, if you can get the money and get Shooter Jennings (Waylon's son) involved, then you've got something.

  • I remember thinking when I first bought this album that it would be a great basis for a movie -- a civil war musical. I discarded the thought as unworkable. But now I'm not too sure about that. The music and lyrics and the story characters they represent provide great and solid guidelines. Yeah... it could be done. All that's needed are screenplay rights and about a $70 million dollar budget and the determination to say that nothing is unworkable.
