I don't like the need to put a kick in a nunchaku kata, the nunchaku has enough techniques to provide more reach speed and pressure potential than a kick at any moment in time.

It's nice to see someone take a simple approach to the nunchaku. Keep your back straight, and use your hips to pivot. Like a punch that uses the shoulder to shove with the punch, get your hip out there when doing a sidekick. I think his moves are nice and fluid. He practices what he finds useful and discards the rest. Simplicity.

My personal art is to keep the weapon in the direction of the assailant or opponent. I guess if they were on the ground between my legs, then it would be useful. Hmmm...

For that 1st kick, I think you left your feet up there too long. Like posing. You should've snapped it. Like lunging the kik and then retrieving it back quickly, but the 2nd kick 00:40 looked strong. It just SWANG up there and down. Dont get TOO connected w/the nonchuck routine, like JKD implies; broken rhythm, no fixed routines. Nice demo though, good stuff!

Putting all techniques together, you can call it whatever you want. Call it an exercise, shadow boxing, call it a practice. Call it kata and I have nice traditional practitioners viewing my clips on youtube :)

All my nunchakus were made by my sensei in Thailand. You would want the bottom to be a little bigger than the rope side to improve balance and swing weight. If they are too heavy, you might want 10" length instead of 13" or longer. Cheers,
