David I like ur videos but I think the design of a computer is important but not as important as the performance. I don't understand the glossy argument. If you don't like the reflection then move your desk. If it had a matte screen, then you would still have to move your desk anyway as the sunlight would make the display hard to see and very washed out.
The only argument against glossy is for photo editing. And professional photo editors will likely want something faster than an iMac.
I think the aluminium looks much better, however the black border isn't to great.
I have to admit, I like the new design, and I think they should stick with it. I mean, the chin on the iMac could definitely be ridden of, and that might happen w/ the new stackable processors

When I saw the current aluminum IMAC in the Apple Store last September, It was pure EYE-CANDY! I had to have it. I know there are mixed reviews, but this is going to be a system for years to come. The funny thing is they are re-designing Apple Stores to have this aluminum look and the back wall by the cash registers looks like a big refrigerator. But back to this - However, I agree with you on the wireless keyboard. That is Apple Marketing's worst decision since the Apple 3 in 1981.

true, the new iMac isn't that much of a big update, but when you're actually using it, all that really matters is the OS and the speed of the machine, which is now a LOT faster!
I wouldn't mind the new mac but none of the peripherals seem to match: White and grey mouse, white and aluminium keyboard aluminium and black desktop. And dont even get me started on the fact that the apple remote no longer magnetically holds onto the side of the display cause that sucks. Naughty Apple

These are my thoughts... I like the new look. New designs are always a gamble based on tastes. Just like car models. some will like it. some will not. the company liked it and decided to go with it. a risk they were apparently willing to take. The black apple logo matches the black screen outline. It could have been silver or some other matching color. But, there you have it. Future earnings releases will reveal if apple's gamble on design choice pays off. Keep slugging, David!
I strongly believe that it's all about individuals' tastes. I personally like the new look of imac... BUT I have to agree about the Bluetooth keyboard... it's too small specially if you put it beside the 24" imac... then it'll look like an "ant" beside and "elephant" :O

I agree with your opinion about the keyboard. What the hell were they thinking cutting off the number pad and arrows, etc. I think they'll add that back in the coming weeks...hopefully anyway.
PART 1: I think that the reason Apple chose aluminum design is because they want their computers to match the operating system visually. For example, the white finder bar and blue Aqua wallpaper in versions of Mac OS X Jaguar, Panther and Tiger look great on the white iMac.
Mac OS X Leopard will be coming out in October and will not have the same desktop. A transparent finder bar, reflective dock and a green leaves wallpaper by default make it look more appealing on the aluminum version of this computer. Let's not forget that the entire Leopard OS looks as if it's made out of aluminum. The new Finder, the new looks of Control Panel applications and others make it look as a metal design.
The only only thing desapointed me is that i though they were gonna completly change design same as mac g4ng5

Hey thecreativeone i ordered my mac the day after it came out, still waiting at the moment (finance contract) and since then i have been getting into youtube... found this video... i've had my eyes on macs as a permenant computer for some time and when they went intel i was ready and waited for the new imac (been using a pc and an ibook g4) now i am very happy with the new imac...
well, i like the design of the new imac, it looks sleek, but doesnt scream apple to me. however, if you think about it, the look of it is still ok, and it does help the environment, plus it cuts on cost to make the computer, cause it's more recyclable. all in all, i'm still, and probably always will be, with apple's work. noone else has created an all in one computer (excluding laptops).

I think the new iMac looks really cool when you see it in person, the black border isn't too imposing, and it frames the screen nicely.

I don't agree with you with regard to the look of the new iMac. It looks far better when you see it for real than just looking at it on a website. I bought mine from an Apple Store on Thursday, they were selling one (on average) every four minutes, they were just flying out of the store. The black around the display (for those who don't get it) is to make the user focus more on the screen rather than the computer as a whole. I do agree that it was supposed to be a "major" update and it wasn't

Yeah The I had some problem with my G4 when I want to upgrade from os9 to OSX. The way I had to to get was upgrade to 9.2.1 so i had to order a freakin CD and then i could update to OSX. Then I realize how much space i had left on my computer lol. 10g use: 3.5G after installing the OSX i had like 2Gigs left. updates are not fun with mac.

Well, the only down sides so far that I see, is that a few webpages are only "internet explorer" enabled"...
and since Microsoft stopped supporting IE on Macs, and Apple launched Safari, it's a bit complicated.
"I think" it's because those webpages require windows media player (for the video files) or some microsoft supported file... idk. (someone tell me)
BUT! You can always run Windows on any Mac with the required software. so if you have the money, good for you.

I feel that the new keyboard reminds me of the original IBM PC jr. "chicklet keypad" - it didn't catch on decades ago and I don't know if it will now.

The newer screen is glass. If you've seen an old CRT monitor, then you know the glossy you're getting into.

Yes, you are right, Apple seem to taking on too much at the same time. The black back looks disgusting, and the screen is glossy, which is horrible, and the just stuck another Apple logo on the back, it should still say iMac !!!

These are my thoughts... I like the new look. New designs are always a gamble based on tastes. Just like car models. some will like it. some will not. the company liked it and decided to go with it. a risk they were apparently willing to take. The black apple logo matches the black screen outline. It could have been silver or some other matching color. But, there you have it. Future earnings releases will reveal if apple's gamble on design choice pays off. Keep slugging, David!

I strongly believe that it's all about individuals' tastes. I personally like the new look of imac... BUT I have to agree about the Bluetooth keyboard... it's too small specially if you put it beside the 24" imac... then it'll look like an "ant" beside and "elephant" :O
Anyways, I guess that apple really wanted to make us impressed but it didn't seem to be quite successful- considering all of the criticism :(

I agree with your opinion about the keyboard. What the hell were they thinking cutting off the number pad and arrows, etc. I think they'll add that back in the coming weeks...hopefully anyway.

PART 1: I think that the reason Apple chose aluminum design is because they want their computers to match the operating system visually. For example, the white finder bar and blue Aqua wallpaper in versions of Mac OS X Jaguar, Panther and Tiger look great on the white iMac.

Mac OS X Leopard will be coming out in October and will not have the same desktop. A transparent finder bar, reflective dock and a green leaves wallpaper by default make it look more appealing on the aluminum version of this computer. Let's not forget that the entire Leopard OS looks as if it's made out of aluminum. The new Finder, the new looks of Control Panel applications and others make it look as a metal design.

they just keep same design exept they change it for allu wich is grey :S n they put a black stripe
ilike glossy maybe sometime its annoying but if they do it i think its because they sell more glossy screen with the mb pro then mat,mat is great no reflect but it affect the color of the screen i prefer glossy
and they do a better deal with the price

Hey thecreativeone i ordered my mac the day after it came out, still waiting at the moment (finance contract) and since then i have been getting into youtube... found this video... i've had my eyes on macs as a permenant computer for some time and when they went intel i was ready and waited for the new imac (been using a pc and an ibook g4) now i am very happy with the new imac...

well, i like the design of the new imac, it looks sleek, but doesnt scream apple to me. however, if you think about it, the look of it is still ok, and it does help the environment, plus it cuts on cost to make the computer, cause it's more recyclable. all in all, i'm still, and probably always will be, with apple's work. noone else has created an all in one computer (excluding laptops).

That only blocks them from contacting you. The actual profiles/channels need to be reported for any effect. And comments for videos can also be set to approval, so...

I think the new iMac looks really cool when you see it in person, the black border isn't too imposing, and it frames the screen nicely.
also, about the new keyboards:
1) The new wireless is so cool if you're an average consumer who doesnt use the number pad, but you should have a choice.
2) You can have an aluminium iMac/Macbook pro/whatever and an aluminium keyboard, but a white mouse? surely this wil look really sucky. strange decisions by apple.

I don't agree with you with regard to the look of the new iMac. It looks far better when you see it for real than just looking at it on a website. I bought mine from an Apple Store on Thursday, they were selling one (on average) every four minutes, they were just flying out of the store. The black around the display (for those who don't get it) is to make the user focus more on the screen rather than the computer as a whole. I do agree that it was supposed to be a "major" update and it wasn't

The 'chin' keeps it thin.
I hate the glossy display - you see your reflection and I most certainly find that distracting.
I feel the keyboard looks too cheap, reminds me of the old IBM 'chicklet' keys back when Microsoft was a small software company.
I further agree that the keypad is a must - a strong selling point.
I actually prefer my iMac with my classic keyboard.
Yes, next to Final Cut Express HD, iMovie 08 looks outstanding (waiting for Leopard).

Yeah The I had some problem with my G4 when I want to upgrade from os9 to OSX. The way I had to to get was upgrade to 9.2.1 so i had to order a freakin CD and then i could update to OSX. Then I realize how much space i had left on my computer lol. 10g use: 3.5G after installing the OSX i had like 2Gigs left. updates are not fun with mac.

what is it with apple worshipers, I dont know ANY PC worshipers just PC users. And most of us have wireless keyboards but dont need to update the second Logitech release a new Keyboard, I'd be broke. If your wireless keyboard works then keep it, it is only a inch or two thicker!

Wtf. You are asserting superiority, and I disagree. I'm to what you are your Mac, to my Windows. I pretty much worship Windows and I love it, but I also have two Macs and I like them too. Having a Mac does not make you special, or part of some social revolution, that's just what deluded people think. It's a bloody computer, for christs sake.
