I was warned that Vietnam's large scale use of low quality coal has doomed VN. The combustion of this coal creates dioxin as a bi-product of combustion. VN use it for cooking, heating, electric power. Dioxin completely permeats the entire food chain. 4 million VN have damaged chromosomal defects.

You should definitely go to Soc Trang. Its a bustling city, but the people seem to be nicer there.
The coast is a little dirty, but its a blast.

For the english, the only place you'll really find anyone willing to speak it is in HCM City...even then they'll just try to sell you something.

You should definitely go to Soc Trang. Its a bustling city, but the people seem to be nicer there.
The coast is a little dirty, but its a blast.
One thing you should definitely watch for is beggars. Its very sad to say I know, but they will definitely bother everywhere you go. Including the restroom.

For the english, the only place you'll really find anyone willing to speak it is in HCM City...even then they'll just try to sell you something.
And just for the record, Vietnam is NOT dangerous for a tourist. Just try not to take any unneccesary day packs with you. And if you carry cash with you, don't carry any bills larger than 10k dong (which by the way is actually pronounced 'daong'...not dong like the retard in this video)

i'm a little disappointed, according to the economist vietnam is the 2nd fastest growing economy in asia but i don't see anything improve, the street are dirty with trash and air quality is polluted. vietnam is by far to compare with other bustling asian countries.

But for some reason i would feel weird having someone drive me on one of those cyclo/ xichlo/ rickshaw things...i would just use a bike and ride myself..or something.
