  • looks great to me...

  • "You really need to find a raw file and play it on a quad core computer or plug it into an HDTV straight off the camera."

you mean my intel pentium dual cpu T2370 @ 1.73 GHz 1.73 GHz will lag ? damn..

  • can this be edited on iMovie?

  • Looks awesome! If I can find the need I may get one myself. One question though... How slow can the zoom go?

  • i think the problem with motion comes from shooting at 60i and then not de-interlacing. Try shooting in 30p or 24p instead. Those are standard for video editing software

  • the color is amazing. but is the motion really that blurry/jerky? or is it just because of youtube. I know that CMOS sensors do the rolling shutter thing, but is it as bad when you have the file on your hard drive directly??

  • I'm don't know a lot about cameras, but I know the quality on this is amazing!

A lot of you are saying it sucks, well it's under $1,000, what do you expect? It's not like it's a movie or anything. Remember this is YouTube, not Hollywood.

I just brought this camera, and I know I made a good choice.

  • well should i buy this camera or not please comment with answer on my channel k thanks

  • To anybody watching my video to see if you should buy this camera: you are wasting your time. YouTube cuts the quality drastically.

Search Google for a raw .mts file (AVCHD compression) from this camera and play it back locally.

  • All this shakyness is probobly from youtube. I managed to upload it very nice. Bought it today its super awesome :)

  • This is ridiculous! Better then reality! :)

  • Why all pictures from hd cameras shake and twitching??????????

  • because your internet sucks

  • why you attack? looking for a camera to take a sports car and need a peaceful image. I tried to download a lot of hd youtube movies and all have ghosting effects when camcorder moves. Picture is good only when camera is static.

  • ohh haha. i misunderstood sorry

  • It's probably because of Youtubes compression. Otherwise, the video would probably look pristine.

  • no, this is because this camera have cmos sensor. cmos sensor have rolling shutter and this sucks.

  • @folerx This sucks? You are an idiot.

  • Was this shot at 24 frames per second?

  • I have this camera as well, what program did you use to convert the HD Video?

  • If i remember correctly, i just uploaded the raw .mts file from the camera.

  • Wouldn't that make the file to big to go on YouTube??

  • Not sure how big the file was but it was for sure the .mts file that i uploaded.

  • Thanks, I just checked the mts files at home today and they are small enough to load

  • is it just me or are there lines going through the video whenever he turns the camera. is that because of the low fps?

  • The lines are a YouTube thing. Not the cam.

  • the photos are amazingly crisp and sharp. will this work with imovie.. i am going to buy one..

  • How did you edit the footage? I couldnt edit the footage on my mac because the files are .mts

  • I did not edit it. That is the clip as I filmed it. The music was added by a feature in YouTube.

What program are you using on your mac? I thought the newer iMovie 09 and Final Cut Pro support .mts... maybe i am wrong as I am a PC.

  • I am using Avid and Final Cut, I havent tried imovie yet ill have to give it a try. I just need to figure out a workflow before i buy the camera. Ive been reading on forums that the files must be converted to quicktime to edit them on final cut or avid but im concerned with the loss of quality if i did that.

  • I'm having some troubles uploading my videos to the computer, as they are .cpi extension files. I have tried to convert them into .mp4 extension files but that lowers the video quality... what did you do to upload the videos the computer and onto youtube?

  • iMovie 09 has support for AVCHD files.

  • @walter541 there are some AVCHD converters available, nice ones too might I add that don't take away from the quality

  • Comment removed

  • Do you by any chance know the name of the background music?

  • i ordered mine from bhphotoandvideo also!! great service from them..

and yeah, it takes a while to upload large files.. sigh.. its a combination of the connection and computer.. and it took youtube over 2 hours to process the HD version.. the wait is worth it because the video is beautiful.. ^___^

  • I just uploaded a couple more videos today. Not too long because it takes forever to upload files so large.

  • Great Vid. Picture Quality looks awesome! I'm looking to buy this camera but I wanted to know a few things:

Q1: Does it have the "Time Lapse" recording feature? I would like to record sunsets, sunrises, etc.

Q2: Does it have the "Slow Motion" capture feature? And if so, does can it record in HD? I would love to use it for to record myself swinging the golf stix.

Any help would be much oblige!

  • It is a really nice camera but I need a faster computer to play the videos properly. They play great on my LCD tv.

I don't know anything about the time lapse or slow motion.

Overall it is awesome. It looks amazing when played back on a HDTV.

  • you don't need to worry about ANY of all that stuff... all you want from a camera is "is it HD or not?" the slow motion and time lapse effects... you will put that stuff in with whatever editing tool you are using, whether it be Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro, or iMovie... these editing apps HAVE it all.. just don't worry about if a camera has slow motion...

  • True, but seeing as pretty much ALL camcorders released in a decent amount of time have been HD, it's worth having some other needs to compare each camera to one another. In-camera slow motion and time lapse, while not the only method, is definitely the most convenient. Like the OP says, he wants to record his golf swing in slow-mo; having to take that footage home and processing it on the computer takes much longer than just viewing it in-camera on the green. :)

  • I bought the same camera but I have troubles playing the videos on my computer. The video is all jumpy and it doesnt play smoothly. How did you upload this on youtube?

  • looks like you have to buy new computer!

(better video card & a processor)

  • there is like a mirage effect that shows up frequently on the image...didn't you notice that?

  • Youtube allowed me to upload the .mts file directly to them. I have had it fail on the past two videos I tried to upload though.

  • I have been trying to upload more videos from the mts files but Youtube is "Failing to Convert" the file properly.

  • Wow, this is looking great. I've been searching Youtube for Canon VIXIA s10/ S100 clips. Found out its also known as LEGRIA S10 (Europe) and iVIS S10 (Japan).

I hope B&H still has some units available !

Pls. upload as many clips as you can...

  • Awesome quality and test video. Please post more in the future?

  • I uploaded to youtube as .mts file. This video looks about 100 times better on my Sony LCD than it does here.
