It wasn't the gas that was the problem. The Hindenburg was coated with waterproofing that had the same chemical composition as ROCKET FUEL. THAT was what caught fire first. (That was covered up by Germany--- because they realized that hey, it WOULD make nifty rocket fuel....and they didn't want the secret to get out before they could launch a few rockets into England.)
