  • No parade of nations is the thing that i dislike about YOG. Just carrying flags with no athletes marching, i suggest that Innsbruck 2012 YOG will have parade of nations in the opening ceremony.

  • @international153 it is my favourite part of openning ceremony :)

  • I think this was the best national anthem i've heard.

  • What is that song those yellow dressed girls sing at 2:17? I find it catchy but i dont know the name of the song so I cant find it anywhere online.

  • Where can I watch the full version of Youth Oylampic Games opening and closing ceremony? . .

  • @MoKsIn1996 I do not know if there is any place that sells the YOG CD...But being a performer at the Opening Ceremony,I was given the YOG CD for free, which contains recollections of the YOG and the full version of Opening and closing ceremony...Maybe if there are people you know that are involved in the ceremonies, you can ask?

  • @SuperStar0311 I did not have friends from YOG but I really love YOG . .

  • Okay what is that song they start singing at 2:14 and what is the name of those girls singing it? Is it a choir or what?

  • @19EHF Its sung by my choir Tampines pri

  • Good job to all the athletes and those who participated in the games, much respect goes out to you in making it happen =)

Just wish that the YOG was better advertised, there was too weak an atmosphere overall, and it was over before most of us knew about it =S

  • this ceremony isnt tat gr8..... its gud, but definitely pales in comparision to athens nd beijing, or cwgs in melbourne nd delhi.

  • i was dancing in this dance i got a feeling and the one with nobody it was great fun and i am not a singapore ean

  • @MrNb123456 I would say between 5:41 to 6:00

  • this is well not the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010 ?

  • The Advertiser, an Adelaide tabloid posed this one-page one-liner , " the question on many Australian lips will be: Could we do this?"

Australians are sports- crazy, so there're lots of channels that daily cater to sports.

The Age, the Daily Telegraph, the Herald Sun and others featured the Games in scoreboards and pictures on the YOG.

  • What is the name of the song that plays when they do the fountain of youth bit? Who's the rapper?

  • we dun mind what u think of this, but this is the proud moment of singapore to be centre of attraction ( in a good way)

  • they should have showed the whole flag thing, i love that part! ^^ but anyway i still love singapore, the best country in the world in my opinion.. NO OFFENCE MEANT

  • haters, you're just jealous how great and awesome Singapore is. and i bet you just want to stay in Singapore but you can't. i know jealousy kills, and i also believe karma will find you.

  • @fj1764 Let me ask u, HOW MANY SINGAPOREANS ARE USED TO BUILD AND MAKE THIS A SUCESS?

5,000,000 which is all of singapore! Even elderly members also saw the torch relays, children as well, we all went to watch, so i ask u how many compared to foreign workers? AND DONT CALL THEM SLAVES!

  • Kudos to all participants and organisers. Excellent job on the YOG. Onward Singapore!!

  • Olympics Prez J Rogge described the village as "first class. This is the 22nd village I visited, since my first Olympic Games in 1968 so I can compare, and this is in the top league of the Olympic villages".4-time Olympic medallist sprinter Frank Frederick said that all the best youth athletes in the world want to represent their country at the YOG so "it's no wonder they're setting new records." Internationale de Gymanastique Prez Bruno Grandi said "the YOG level is extremely high."

  • "The Youth Olympics Games Int Olympics Comm president Jacques Rogge , was very happy with the tv coverage and YouTube hits in so many countries with 166 broadcasters, exclaiming,"It was the? 3rd most-watched item on Youtube in the world..that's something!" . 205 Countries participated, and newspapers and TV channels in Asia , Europe and the West caught the resounding success of the Opening Ceremony in Singapore held @ the Marina Barrage. One Australian tabloid posed," Could we do this?"

  • the stadium is entirely floating

  • They are indeed the best country on earth......they have the best airline, best airport and the cleanest city ever.. seems like everything that is great comes out from this tiny, yet powerful country!

  • @sfotpe thx 4 this awesome comment. cause i am a singaporean. haha! but the stress is unbearable. trust me. haha! :D

  • @sfotpe oh really? have you surveyed, explored and thoroughly evaluated and conducted scientific assessment of ALL the countries in the face of the earth? PURELY OPINIONATED

  • @sfotpe It's not as clean as you think, have you been to Singapore? If Yes you've probably been to the city in a fancy hotel ^-^ I'm just saying, almost every where by the HDBs it's all Dirt ; Cigars and ... Dirt! No Offence though I'm just saying xD

  • video quality is too gud

  • that boy is so handome!!!!!!

  • the song are favourtite song!!

  • it's so sad tht yog had closed down now

  • Vibrant performance! What vivid colors beautiful country! One Gem in the cornicopiea of God's children on Earth. That's what the Olympics are...a celebration of mankind and achievements One world One Race: )

  • AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME !!!!!

  • @MegaRose235 we didnt offend india, instead we work with india! So pls dun insult YOG. CWG is a smaller event then yog. i watched it! i think it was pretty ok! But since u love the cwg india, i will not compare yog to cwg, cuz i scared u will feel not very happy

  • Heres something to make the YOG shine. 2010 Commonwealth Games

  • @alyuful

LOL this is a joke. Did you make this up?

Because apparently IOC was extremely impressed.

Some even said that it's one of the best olympic ceremonies ever held in olympic history.

    Dig that.

It's all behind the scenes, so don't be superficial.

  • @dlhc30 U ROCK!!! i totally agree with u! i even read that ioc was extremely x10000 impressed

  • @dlhc30 A lot of the concepts for these Singapore Opening Ceremonies were copied straight from previous Olympic Ceremonies....I see a lot of Sydney, Torino, Beijing, and Salt Lake in this show. Even the arrival of the Olympic flame is a bit similar to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony baton relay.

  • @dlhc30 This opening ceremony is indeed very well done. The stage is spectacular, but mostly it's because of the overall development of Marina Bay which is indeed one of the best bay in the world. However, to say that it is the best ceremony might be pushing it a little. It is very, very difficult to upstage e.g. Beijing in 2008. This is mostly because of the difference in budget. So I'm not sure who are the "some" people who said that this is one of the best olympic opening ceremony in history.

  • @alyuful PLS DUN INSULT US, ioc said this is one of da best opening ceromony, and why isit humid hot? 28 degrees is hot? NO OFFENCE MEANT

  • @guhayu watever, tis is ur opinion, and BTW, we are not paid to do so, we love singapore, thats why we do it

  • Can you just stop arguing and debating about how well or badly Singapore has done? Personally, I think Singapore has already done a great job! Every event will definitely have some mistakes. If you don't like it, it's your wish! You don't have to accuse the use of money whatsoever. At least Singapore has already made the EFFORT! We, the performers did our best after just 5 months or more/less and showed our spirit of Singapore and it's culture or meanings! It is over. Stop insulting, can't you?

  • I miss YOG... miss the float... miss the performances... songs played live there though we listened so many times... i miss my performance friends... I miss the F1 pit room... I miss the horrible food... I miss my trainers... It was really a great once in a lifetime experience. I do not and will never regret it. Well done Singapore!!!!!! THANK YOU SINGAPORE! I love you SINGAPORE!

  • @respublica85 I Need A Hero by Bonnie Tyler.

    - Performer in playing with fire

  • ;( . I miss performing in this huge event .. Im in the SSA Playing with Fire .. The one with dragon .. !!!!

  • @BreakingHit miss yog a lot!I am the among the fishes...Why YOG so fast over???:( very bored after yog...

  • @thai9001 The incidents about the food and the expired F1 tickets show that humans can make mistakes...But lets not take away the fact that the hosting of the inaugural YOG was done fantastically. How can you say you felt cheated? Its the thought that counts...I am sure the organisers wanted to reward you all with the F1 tickets and they did not meant this incident to happen...And if you had read the newspaper, the committee has said where did all of the money went to...

  • @thai9001 If you had truly relished and enjoyed this YOG experience, learnt many things and had had a memorable once-in-a-lifetime experience, you wouldnt be affected about the food or the expired F1 tickets and you would be forgiving towards these unfortunate incidents...

  • @alyuful The free tickets were only for volunteers, not for performers...I read about the incident on newspaper...I think that people cannot use this incident to criticise the yog or regret volunteering...MCYS said the tickets were posted in batches from Tuesday,Sept 21.The last batch was sent to the post office on Wednesday evening...MCYS has apologised and said that their staff made a mistake in not making sure that there will be sufficient time for the tickets to be sent out...

  • @BreakingHit Yay another SSA participant :DD

  • @BreakingHit Fish/Fire/Pyro? if fish what group? :DD

  • very nice swimsuits, from where n do volunteers get to keep it?

like to buy one before i leave singapore for good.

  • looking back on yog in singapore,

MACAU, as small as singapore, can bid for the next next YOG.

    ANY SUPPORTERS?

DON'T FORGET, THERE IS HONGKONG TO SHOP AND PARTY IN , the great wall of china to climb,

the diving to do off the coasts of hainan,

and off course the fabulous LAS VEGAS CASINOES AND SHOWS AND PARADES OF

THE STARS to look forward to in miraculous macau.

    any tips from singaporeans?

what a show to look forward to.

  • @khm8191

    singapore is a jackpot machine?

some people on the roads say they are "palestinians, javanese, filipinos laotians, new guineans, etc. etc.".

many say they are from india and china chinese, cambodians, thais and myanmarese.

if not singaporeans, who are all these people ?

    with yog party over now,

does it mean it's time to leave for good

before something ugly happens like in uighursland, saravevo, or israel?

and, now the coming commonwealth games in india?

  • not enough time and money was given singapore to organise this yog by the olympic council.

    fair observation?

how much money and time are needed............

to avoid yog bus accident, poor food for volunteers,etc.etc.............?

and lots of nonsensical comments here?

  • will innsbruck YOG meet have all the participating member countries there?

i mean, why were majority of the usa team grossly absent here amongst some other well known countries - especially the western developed countries of europe that sent very few very few competitors?

  • @khm8191

the next yog is in 2014 in nanking, china, not innsbruck.

wonder how so many people here think the next yog will be innsbruck.

after the beijing summer olympics of 2008, expect a razzle dazzle of a nanking yog.

hopefully , the usa team should be bigger.

  • @willyu1 The next YOG is in Nanjing, thts true. But however, the first YOG Winter Edition will be in Innsbruck, in 2012.

  • @willyu1 No Problem

    Hope everyone have fun there!

Not all countries that participate in the Singapore YOG is going there, as some nations does not have snow to train their athletes.

Some countries are skeptical over the competition level that is going to take place in Singapore. Some even thought that its just a summer camp! So they rather keep their athletes away.. But after the Singapore 2010 YOG, Im sure many countries have regretted their actions.

  • 06:37 can any one name all the song they sang ?

  • some people seem so worked up here, why?

why do attack others on the assumption that theirs are the only comments worth reading here?

    one wonders ?

does criticising the comments and observations make this yog more commendable?

    think about it.

  • @willyu1 I aren't worked out or criticising the comments...I am just correcting as you're wrong...

  • @willyu1 it is a silly concept the olympics is really four years away max for these people I really cannot see the IOC needs and youth olympics besides to grab money and an audience for the dying olympic games. It was not shown at all on any of our channels in Australia .

  • @jjeblv Why would there be many five-star stars performing?Firstly, this the the Youth Olympic Games.Obviously apart from the four singers singing the theme song at the Opening Ceremony, the performers are young people. It does not mean that you need five-star stars to make the show interesting. Most of the money wasnt spent on the Opening Ceremony. And hosting such a big event needs money.Do you know that Beijing used BILLIONS of dollars during the Beijing Olympics 2008?

  • with so few five-star stars performing and a trash n garbage transformer look alike swinging from left to right and minimal props and and mostly water reflections and light effects, isn't $500 million spent here a little too much...half should have gone to the pakistan and sichuan flood victims?

    just a thought only

am sure those little kids on stage with their chaperones are not paid like the volunteers served with very bad food.

how about it, give half of $500 m back to charity

  • @jjeblv You have no rights to criticise anything about the YOG.You do not know how difficult it is to host it so successfully, using just 2years.You also do not have appreciation for arts. What do you mean by "minimal props and mostly water reflections and light effects"?The water reflections and light effects were exquisite and breathtaking to watch.Every big event needs lots of money...Singapore has already spent much lesser than the adult Olympic Games. They used existing venus, for you info...

  • blue title says "olympicsingapore2010"

    .....spartand001.

    so, zeyou 1

    ....is quite right.

it is not the " singapore olympic games"

    without the word "youth"

obvilously others will think it is the summer or winter olympic games for young and old.

since singapore is too hot for winter games, there was never a summer olympic games in singapore.

that's why the usa full team is not here and the sean kingston usa boy was missing and brazil's flag was missing along with several others.

  • @willyu1 @willyu1 Please get your facts right first before talking. The USA team coaches has expressed regret at not sending their team to Singapore. They had underlooked the competitiveness of the Youth Olympic Games, not because of the hot weather. Also,Sean Kingston was not here as he was at someone's concert, according to the news.Every country had their flags shown at the Opening Ceremony, just that in this video, they only show a summary of what is happening.

  • where was the Brazil flag????

  • @PetroBruno In this video, they didn't show the whole Opening Ceremony...The video just shows a summary of what is in the opening. The flags of all the NOCs(National Olympic Committees) were displayed at the Opening Ceremony.

  • i had no clue until right now there was a youth olympic games, well the media didnt report or say anything about this

  • there was a youth olympic games?

  • Comment removed

  • stunning for sure

  • @MegaRose235 not true. my classmates who were volunteers loved it despite the food (not all of which is bad actually)

  • 好好牙

  • subtitle says olympic singapore 2010][august 15,2010.

you mean singapore had an olympic games ?

or it is for young people only?

thought the next world olympic games is in london on 2012.

    so confusing here.

  • @zeyou1 its called Youth Olympic Games and Singapore is the FIRST to host the FIRST Youth Olympic Games

  • Five stars arising was sang by Tampines Primary School Choir with the Marching Band! I LOVE SINGAPORE!! I LOVE YOG!!!!!!!

  • wow, miss it all.

    is it all over?

was it announced outside singapore, this yog?

    where was it advertised?

  • AWESOME

  • Test

  • the national anthem sounded like the closing to a disney movie!

    how awesome!

  • @dope80

    so insulting! ! ! !

this is no disney movie song! ! ! !

you are not dopey when writing this?

it is a national anthem !

  • damn i wish i had the male host's voice

  • I LOVE THE SINGAPORE YOG 2010!!!! especially loved the national anthemn, this time it is very very very grand... :D

  • What is the title of the song at around 10:55 ?

  • So proud of Singapore! And I definitely am grateful I managed to be a part of it.

  • @respublica85 Holding out for a Hero?

  • who know this song at 09;12

  • @raigaeki2 it's called A New Story

  • Does anyone has the full video of this yog opening ceremony?

  • Weee, Singapore did a very good job in hosting the first youth Olympic! Laughs, haters, seriously think before you comment. <3 Yay will miss yog :(

  • thumbs up if you think singapore did a good job of preparing for YOG although it was a very short time between the choosing of host country and the opening ceremony.

  • As a former resident of Singapura, I am so proud of this nation. Without racism, our nation has gone so far- everyone brings ideas from their home countries, even cuisine. It is truly the best nation, since you have the best of everything. They put on such a show to how few people, but those that see it will remember it forever.

  • I was just wondering, what song is it at around 9:10 -9:43? It's a very nice song! :DD

  • @cutieflowergurl2 It's Across The Finish Line by Seah Weiwen :) I listened to it live so many times :DDD

  • I don't how some ppl compare between beijing and singapore

beijing was a summer games thats mean the biggest event in the whole world

    with long history

but singapore organized a very first time event with a lot of expectations and small budjet from IOC

so compare it with the next youth games not with a summer games its unfair

    its kinda silly comparison

  • haters, if you think this is horrible, think again. Singapore is a small country, and we only have two and a half yrs to prepare for this. plus, do u know that we hav to put in more than 100 hrs of rehearsals for YOG ? Btw GREAT JOB , peeps of opening ceremony :)

  • looks like stageshows to other countries in asia and is not of singapore's own.

is there a a true singaporean identity?

yes, performances are great here but lack a sinaporean identity.

rock or not, for kids or adults, the masster of ceremony should have announced the origin of these performances.

  • @zeyou1

Malays, Chinese, Indians and Euroasians are the main ethnics groups in Singapore. That is our identity. Singapore is a multi-racials, languages and religions country.

  • @zeyou1 umm... they are multi-cultural so their identity is at the performance...

  • @scorpioninpink

so how to know who is a singaporean?

  • @zeyou1 dunno... but as far as i know, singapore is a country of migrants... same as USA...

  • @thai9001 ok, my mistake... i don't mean to compare it like that... i mean the origin of USA and SINGAPORE is the same... but when it comes to loyalty, americans are patriotic and singaporians are too... no comment...

  • Onward Singapore!

  • I just don't get it. Haters are people who just think it's actually great but don't want to say it. Cause they see the majority actually hating and slamming this ceremony. A way to blend in huh?

  • Great job Singapore! It looks like a great time for athletes, performers and audience. I think it would have been very cool to have been a young person performing.

  • @ContemplateYourLife it wasn't that bad. that artist at 9:10 is pretty fricking awesome(: i saw him in person!

  • FrostChildCaius its Seah WeiWen - Across The Finish Line

  • @FrostChildCaius its Seah WeiWen - Across The Finish Line

  • The Opeing Up Celemonary is very special and is full of energry. Jeffrey

  • Canada :D :D :D :D Good luck!

  • Haha lol black eyed peas song!

  • So different to Beijing lol :)

  • Who sings this song??? 0:52 01:24

  • @Sert154 black eyed peas

  • why chinese taipe???wtf

  • @rose182921

    ....chinese taipe?

singapore don't recognise taiwan as separate from china......

.....taiwan is part of china .....the people's republic.

could be worse, chinese people's taiwan......

or, taiwan of the chinese people's republic.

simply, there is no republic of china, there is only the people's repbublic of china.

  • I love reading about the comments directed towards "haters". It is not surprising that when the insignificant accomplishments of a "tiny" people get crushed, they get all defensive. Apparently Singapore is not just a small country, but it's people are also small and insipid on the inside.

  • This is excruciating to watch. A terrible opening ceremony, this is all the talent that singapore has?

  • @ContemplateYourLife They're school kids, give them a break. Which big country with big-on-the-inside people do you hail from anyway?

  • What The Heck is Chinese Taipei? Where got any nation with olympic sign on it? It is suppose to be Taiwan!!

  • wow! it was so amazing

  • For all the good competition thanks.

  • to me, as long as everybody (incudg host nation Sg) involved in this YOG did their best to present themselves well, thats already deserving of fair comment..& so far they did just great. So, for the youths here & some unfair adults comments..time to grow up & participate in the real world :)

  • Gotta love them haters

  • @redmouthfish: why would u compare.. these two games are of the different scale, totally different. As long as it is a success, that's all we need...everyone knows Singapore will try to bring out the best they have..!
