  • you just need to get rid of those training wheels and try a bear grizzly

  • im thinking of getting a PSE rally, i am a beginner and was wondering if that was a good bow

  • i had a Barnett Predator cross bow explode in my face do to a non seated arrow....smacked the shit out of my face and the popped an ear drum do to the strings exploding but i had a pretty sweet line across my face for a week

  • he used 4 fingers to draw and release i use 2

  • the lever was broken

  • id rather a traditional than a dumb compound bow

  • 4:13 best part. srry got an imediate eye brow raise on that one

  • Awesome video

  • Many years ago - like about 55, when I was learning to shoot a bow, I was told NEVER to loose a bow without an arrow in it.

    Here you see why.

    tac

  • whats the song? 1:02 - 1:13

  • smoke on the water!!!!

  • how come they showed darton twice

  • I'm now scared to shoot a compound. Good thing I shoot traditional only currently.

  • We all know why this REALLY happened....its because hes a Michigan fan!!!! Go Green!!! haha good video tho guys.

  • Perhaps there was butter on the crack.

  • Where can I get a copy of this video?

  • I would say bad bow design!!! correct the design!

  • @aoxilus Funny you said that. You're almost correct. Bow manufacturers could build ultra-robust bows, with thick deep-grooved cams, heavy-duty hardware, super strong 30 strand strings, and bullet-proof limbs. But nobody would buy this bow ... because it would shoot 225 fps and weigh 7 lbs. Customers want their compound bows to be light and fast, so that's what they get. With great power comes great responsibility ... or something like that.

  • @boomerblue Or you could develop some muscel and use a real Bow and you would never have a derailment. I want to say to requierment in Wa for bow hunting is 50 lbs pull but, what ever it is that is what you should have to draw and hold.

  • @CogInAVice in pa for deer i believe its 35 minimum but i agree work out and get a recurve. stop letting the bow do all the work people!!! if you need to replace your compound bow string but dont wanna by a bow press bring it to me ill show u how to do it by hand.

  • @boomerblue

Id rather have a bow that I could trust than a light bow. I carry a 80 pound pack when I go camping/hunting so whats 7 more pounds haha. Mind you I leave the pack at camp when I hunt :P

  • Каких то полных идиотов показывают

  • 20+ years shooting compounds.. have never had this happen ... and have never used a release .. guess i was smart enough not to twist the string :-)

  • OWNED!!!!!!!!

  • great video man

  • great video good upload

  • how do you get the string back on

  • Cool MI guys I'm about to get my first compound so I'm nervous and excited thanks for the tip and go blue

  • 4:29 poor grammer

  • @ColousoftheRainbow Did you mean poor grammar?

  • @ColousoftheRainbow grammer? lol fail. "Grammar"

  • funny this just happened to me, wish i woulda watched this about 3 hours ago.

  • You don't have this problem with wooden longbows, recurves, and reflex-deflex longbows. :)

  • @boardgamenerd yeah but you do have snapped bows like twigs

  • I drew mine a lot of times and NEVER had a derailment.

guess it's a design flaw for it to ABLE to do that...

  • 4:14 you're welcome

  • siiiick music when ur drunk :) i am drunk :D

  • There was one false statement in that video not EVERY brand will derail. The Oneida series bows use a mechanical compound and do not have cams.

  • @ctex20111984 Good point. Got me on that one.

  • @ctex20111984 i was just about to comment and say that and saw your comment i have an oneida bow and it is amazing

  • 15 20 bucks or so

  • you should shoot a bow with a arrow

  • You would have to be a crack head to do that haha.

  • how much does it cost to just get a bow re-strung with no damage to anything else?

  • @fatlizzard19 you can change a bow string yourself by hand but its pretty hard to do. people might tell you its impossible but i just did it 30 min ago hardyharhar

  • my mom did that to my bow on christmas. it diddnt have a bow and she shot it. now i gotta have to wait like 5 or 6 days to get it fixed

  • 0:44

  • Thank you, good video

  • my friends dad did that to my bow once. i was lucky and just need the bow string to be put back on the ideal wheel. :)

  • does the slide goes flying and thru th paper?

  • I hope that doesn't happen to my 10-year old friends son.

  • @duttaoindril Eh! A string derailment doesn't "happen" to a bow any more than a dent in a fender "happens" to a car after hitting a telephone pole.

  • Hey im 15 and I started archery in school with compound bows. I really like it and I was thinking of buying one. I have two quick questions. 1. Whats a good beginner bow? Im not going to hunt with it (for now) and 2. So are compound bows not meant to be pulled back with your fingers? Please respond I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

  • @Psychoticilluzions no, you need to use a release. You should check out Mission, PSE, Hoyt, Bear, Martin, Mathews, and Bowtech. They all make great bows in different price ranges. Go to your local hunting or archery store and try out some diffferent ones to see what you like. Also, you should try hunting, it's a great sport.

  • @southerncountryboy8 I will try hunting soon. Thanks for the help!

  • @Psychoticilluzions glad i could help.

  • @Psychoticilluzions i would recomen the pse stinger its an amazing bow and its a hunting bow

  • @22taylorparker Would you reccomend that for a beginner bow? Never had a bow before just got into it recently from having archery at school also want to hunt one day but not yet

  • I bought a brand new pse brute once and the first time I drew it the string actually snapped and cut my arm a bit! It was a factory error the poundage was way too high. They fixed the problem for me

  • Just got a Hoyt alpha burner I'm afraid to draw it back thanks to you guys haha but thanks for the tips

  • i just ordered my first compound bow today (PSE Rally) and this vid makes me nervous to even touch it lol

  • Comment removed

  • that happend to my bow i hade to get it fixed

  • I like the rip Jean picture 

  • This one one of the videos I actually learned something from in YouTube. Thanks guys,

  • lololol

This was an excellent use of five minutes.

  • that show was actually hilarious as well as interesting

  • People need to not pull the bow back unless shooting an arrow the you will never have to worry about it people that pull a bow back without an arrow should not own the bow, ITS NOT A TOY , that is just my opinion. Nice video anyway

  • @blorchdude4 or unless you're a noob (such as myself) and you're at the store to get your first bow and need to see what weight you are capable of handling.

  • @blorchdude4 arrow or not as long as you dont do what the guy in the vid did youll be fine just dont dry fire it

  • chuck n. showed me how to shoot kbars through my compound bow. just adjust the pitch up alittle, aim for the heart.

  • very edumacational

  • Granted, I haven't picked up a bow in 20 years, but in the 15 years preceding that, I never had a "derailment" nor ever knew of one. Is that something these new, fancy bows are prone to?

  • Educating and entertaining package about string derailment. Very good video. Thanks for uploadin´g!

  • i hate it when bows explode. then the fbi gets all up in my business, because the house is now gone

  • i have actually seen a 'bow explosion'. when they guy shot his brand new magnesium riser cracked and split into a few pieces.

  • i shot my 1st compound bow today and i dont see how the fuck you would twist your wrist exspecially the one i fired with my hands no noobie release thingy

    btw i used a 80 lb 1

  • I have an older compound bow and the idiot who put the peep sight on the string put it on sideways so i have to twist the string in order to see through it, could that be a problem for the bow for twisting it then releasing it?

  • well first of all its a compound bow which technically isnt really a bow

  • Compounds are for pigs .

My traditional bow string wont be derailed even if the string twisted .

  • @NishiTheNinja you should check out 2:49 then haha

  • @mkjredemption it didn't say it was the only way, and it said he was just asking for a derailment, not that it actually did

  • it could have been a lot worse! u got it cheap mate! i recently got myself a compound bow, the perfect line numbat, twin cam split limbs, same riser as the martin treshold, and i have been shooting fingers and i havent had this problem at all, i got a release aid today so i dont think that would ever happen , may be only if u shoot fingers recklessly!

  • Most of this could be eliminated except torquing the bow, with the Can't Fire Release. All dealers should have them on all display bows.

Third hand archery Can't fire release

  • so finger shooters have a hard time nowadays with new bows?

  • omg My pants rippped when my bow derailed...which cause me to drop my laptop..right at that moment my car was tboned in the middle of an interection while I was driving.

  • That's why I will never ever buy another compound bow, too many intricate moving parts that can fail. I love my longbows though.

  • @killersushi99 Well when you put it that way, you make it sound unuseful. Some people like the compound bow, some people don't. You can say that on the internet, it's just that alot of people get mad.

  • just happened to me i dont know how ive been shooting for a good month now had no problems at all not even one then all of a sudden i draw back today and i get snapped in the face and in the chest

  • They invented this thing a while back called gun powder. Its been a great invention for hunting. Well unless you like stabbing your meal with a stick.

  • The rear tail light radiator manifold faild cause the exhaust piston gasket was poorly lubed

  • no arrow

  • d.user error

    1. first and foremost he didnt just let go he still ahd his hand on teh string

    2. hes a pussy

  • are u just a retard dry fireing a bow is just stupid not not derailed sring?? its never dry fire a bow ??

  • omg are you saying you require a quick release? LOL how bout get some skill instead of relly'in on technology.

  • Thank you so much for this video <3. I always wondered why you shouldn't fire without an arrow. I knew you shouldn't and I wouldn't but I never knew why. Thanks for this. I've been wanting a bow and now I've learned quite a bit of things on how to properly handle it. thanks one again <3

  • Wow i just ripped my pants,,,

  • @1977BanditTransAM Do they have a warranty?

  • LMao that guy tried to do a kill shot with a bow

  • great video. awesome editing!

  • What bow is that?

  • i bought a compound bow and i am wondering if i need to buy a assesorie to shoot it since i saw the guy doing it correctly without any assesories in the end

  • Probobly because he had a U of M shirt on.... GO STATE

  • Great video. Learn new thing everyday.

  • just use a traditional bow and you wont have that problem.

  • i never use a release i stick to finger release

  • Damn. This just happened to me...all I need to do is restring it right?

  • i like the music in this video and it's informative

  • Haha thanks!

  • With the good old yew longbow, i don't have to worry about torque and string derailment, although a wood bow is more likely to break.

  • @Thrawn6211 shame too, my bear cub recurve just had a problem. the string rode up and through the bottom limb and now im sad cause i dont know how to fix it XD

  • @thepranqster1 Compound bows are like the M16 of archery, if you don't do everything exactly right it gets all pissy. The longbow is the AK-47, you can loose thousands of arrows and it will keep working. Anyways, I'm sorry to hear about you bow, those things are an investment and the worst part is seeing the money get flushed down the drain before your eyes. I have no idea how to fix it.

  • @Thrawn6211 that it is man, i guess ill have to go out and find another one. then theres the aquaitance period with any new bow, the only thing compound bow's are good for is people with no shot placement so they require more speed

  • the lower the pouandge the more common deraling

  • Great video! This happend also to my bow, when i allowed a newbie to shot my compound.. now it comes out that i am the newbie..

    So thanks for this lecture!

  • wow, i didnt even know this shit could happen!, great video!

  • this is why i prefer traditional only fuck all that mechanical shit telephone cable wheels 40 feet of goddamn string and fucking nuts bolts and shit to me it sounds more like a crane or skilift or something shit stupid should hurt

  • I hate Compound bows, they're for noobs

  • great video

this happened to me. I'd just moved to compound from recurve and I was testing the new nemesis bow's draw weight when i twisted it on the draw. The string derailed but thats all that happened. I've restrung it and everything t do with the strings and cams is fine. However, the draw stop seems to have damaged the metal on the cam, it's tilted about thirty degrees outward and is jammed in place. does one need a draw stop and how much pressure does the draw stop have to withstand?

  • @miggyback Good comment. Thanks. The draw stop peg isn't meant for kinetic contact. As you're drawing the bow and get back to full draw, the draw stop peg makes contact with either the limb or buss cable (typically). You can clearly feel it when the peg touches down - so you know you're at full draw. BUT ... if the cam overrotates during a dry fire, and the peg makes high-speed kinetic contact, it can damage the peg, the cam, or even leverage a limb apart.

  • @boomerblue thanks for your reply. What's happened is that the peg has moved forward slightly so that it stops the draw about 1/2 an inch before full let off (80%). I have quite an aggressive cam such that now I'm only getting a 50-60% let off. It's also reduced my draw length by about 3/4 of an inch. So i have a a few questions. 1. Can i fire the bow as it is, or must I fix the draw stop? 2. If i reduce the draw length an inch will that bypass the problem and give me full let off?

  • @miggyback It sounds like the peg was forced down the slot when the bow derailed. Look at the peg. You should be able to see the marks from where it was originally set. Loosen the set screw and move the peg back to its original position and you should be OK. BTW ... how did you get the string back on? Did a dealer service the bow after the derailment?

  • @boomerblue Thanks, problem solved. I used a £30 bow press to get the string back on, pretty simple really. There are not any bow dealers in the northwest of England that I know of, so i have to do all maintenance and repairs myself. Again, thank you very much for your help in this issue.

  • N Texaswhitetails let me guess. U shoot Mathews. Speaking if old technology. We caught you in 2003

  • great vid ,, should have derailed that chicks jeans tho

  • my bow string its almost going to break

  • @TexasWhitetails1 ..why is that?..

  • once i fucked up my uncles bow so i needed to pay € 400 :O never doing that again :D

  • He did not dry fire it dry firing is letting the string go without a an arrow on it

  • u dry fired it

  • this actually happened because he didnt have a PSE

  • i let my uncle how my mattews compund bow it is set at 60 pounds, he dry fired it... i had a new string put on about 100 shots befor it happened and i was wonder if i am ok to shoot it again,i looked over every thing. i checked the string over and over there is no stretching or any kind of out of the ordanary. there is no cracks in the cams or limbs. please help me i am realy woried about it.

  • my only dislike about this video is that this dude is waring a Michigan shirt :( .....oh hold on a second..... with the Michigan shirt on he jacked up the bow that makes since :) !!!! OSU !!!!

  • Finger shooting is a lost art ;)

  • Crap...i swear i wont pull my bow with bare hands lol

  • I had the same thing happen to me with my brand new Pse xs and I was using a mechanical release and D loop and was measured and sighted in! I load an arrow on my QAD, nock it, pull back, aim... BOOM!! Point shoot exploded! The string snapped I replaced it 35 bucks later! Bought it off eBay never had good luck with things bought from that site......

  • i draw my bow back all the time when im at home just messing around. its a 65# draw and my first bow. Luckily i am strong enough to not torque it and i bring it back to default position slowly. :)

  • im 12 years old and im getting a compound bow for my birthday in a few days...does anyone have any tips on how to keep accedents like this happening (sorry for spelling)

  • How do i fix the peephole? It's not cracked or anything. It just came off of the string.

  • @FlipYak Is the string around the peep served?

  • 2 people there bows were broken xD

  • this does happen. be especially careful with bows with radical cams like the destroyer or monster. i de railed my admiral a year ago now i dont draw it without a release

  • 4 finger draw on a compound...lovely

  • dimond is the shit i have two of them

  • the guy who disliked the video was the one being the retard in the video:D..... boomer why would my arrow be hitting the front cable just got a new string installed professionally plan to take it back just want a heads up of whats going on

  • Is PERFECT... the next time that some one told me HYSTORIES.. i will put them the video...

  • I want to know what kind of idiot actually doesn't keep they're string in alignment, it's common sense that you want to pull your string centered and aligned for an accurate shot. And why the hell would you torque your grip. I can't believe there's idiots out there's that don't respect 70 pounds of tension on a wire, this is a result of the illegalization of whipping your kids with a belt. They'd be a little more respectful if they realized there was a whip an inch away from they're eye.

  • @parsleysprigs It happens EVERY SINGLE DAY here in the bow shop, especially with the high-energy speed bows. Poor technique and a know-it-all attitude are a bad combination. Unfortunately, many of these know-it-alls insist the manufacturer is to blame when they derail their bows ... check out ArcheryTalk sometime.

  • @boomerblue To an extent. Some of it's also poorly designed cams and overly aggressive cam designs. And with the prevalence or short bows with more cam lean that in years past it's only going to make it more common. I've been shooting since 1974 and have YET to derail a bow with fingers or release. But I don't buy tiny bows with huge, leaning, overly-aggressive cams. Go figure, right?

  • @gvman3670 ..to an extent. All bows can be derailed - but yes - some bows are easier to derail than others (bows with cam lean should be returned for service). With all that said, a string still doesn't derail itself. The user derails it. And fact is, super-hot bows require a more skilled operator ... like a fast car. If you put a 16 year old in a ZR1, it won't be long before he gets it loose and wraps the fenders around a tree. Do you blame Chevy because the car had too much mojo?

  • how about getting a real bow, recurve, longbow.

  • Help, I shot my bow and it sounded like a gun, my silencers flew off the string and y arrow went way right, why happend?!

  • @wheetley97 Your flux capacitor was offline.

  • @sultankraver smoke on the water by blue oyster cult :)

  • @XIVscarfaceXIV It's obviously Deep Purple.

  • @MrCarrothead86 oh yeah it is sorry get those two bands mixed up at times

  • @sultankraver You're kidding right? Smoke on the water by Deep Purple.

  • @sultankraver it's Smoke On The Water from Deep Purple

  • Drawl them bow's back right,

  • 5:14 if you just let your bow down gently like that, does it still cause damage to the bow?

  • @italianchriswilko100 No, of course not. If you let the bow down "straight" without torquing the string out of the cam grooves, the bow can safely let down. It's not about how fast or slow you let the bow down, it is about how you're holding the bow (twisting the grip) that causes the derailments.

  • @boomerblue I was told that the string needs resistance when released or it snaps. Funny that there's one dislike, someone got they're advice a little too late.

  • @parsleysprigs That's basically true. It's not really the string that needs resistance ... it's the whole bow. If a bow is fired without any resistance (an arrow), that condition is called dry-firing. Without the resistance of the arrow, the limbs, cams, and strings move much more violently than they're designed to handle. And in many cases, a dry-fired bow results in bent cams, broken limbs, and broken strings. That's not the same as a derailment ... in fact, a dry-fire is even worse!
