I also had the same problem with my ps3. disk would not spin. try cleaning the lense it did not work. also tried to change the spinner motor it did not work either. so I switched laser with a new and now run it on filling pressure again. so just wanted to say that it is the fault, a bad laser
First thing it does is check for a disc with the Violet laser, if found it spins up the disc. If it's a Blu-Ray disc it skips the other laser checks, if not it then tries to identify DVD or CD with Red then IR laser, alternating lasers. If the Violet laser is too dim or out completely then it won't even bother spinning the disc, or using the Red/IR lasers. So if your Violet laser is too dim or dead it will take out your DVD and CD capabilities even if the respective lasers for those are fine.

mate i got the same problem its beacuse the mech is not lifting, when i find the fix i will let you know
