Just because something is different doesn't mean it's bad. And I don't think Kevin meant the dedication as a jab to Steven---I think he truly misses him (as we all do :( Good job Kevin!
Ably done. Kevin's voice isn't the Dolenz-like powerhouse that is Steve. However, it is quite good, and uniquely pleasant, comforting, etc. Thanks for posting this.
On the band's audio of the show, Kev does indeed knock this one out of the park. (not that Steve ever did a bad job mind, but it is Kev's song and he does give it a bit more erm feeling I guess is the word I am looking for.)
Looking forward to more Kev on the upcoming album.
the fact that he wrote it doesn't necessarily mean he performs it the best. however, i don't mind this version, and i really appreciated the dedication at the beginning. it was sweet.
I was getting at the fact that this is not Kev's first time out on it, plus it was more emotional. I am partial to Steve's voice, but I just had to make sure that it was understood that it is not Kev's first time performing this song, in fact there's a video of him marked at an earlier date performing.
This is going to take some getting used too. Not a bad performance but it sounds like a whole different song. Compare it to them performing it on Letterman
I remember hearing him do this song on one of the cruises and liking it a lot. His voice brings a lot more of a classic 50s feeling to it. Yeah, Steve belts it and it's awesome, but I really like Kev's interpretation. There's something about the emotion in Kevin's version I like better.
Firstly...Kev sang this sooo beautifully!!!!! and if you are a REAL BNL fan and not just a STEVE lover then you will support the guys and not LOOKING for another BEST band...LOSER!!!!! :(
BNL ROCK!!!! and alway's will!!! with or without SJP!!!! :)
I'll agree with this... even if I generally don't like Kevin singing lead.
These guys are incredibly talented. It'll take a bit of getting use to for this Fantasmic Four sound... but BNL is still the best band out there. Steve will always be engrained in this music no matter what... but I know the other four can stay tight.
Somebody has to be a Simon amongst all of these Paula's. Am I the only one who thinks this is really bad? If so than I'll take my ball and play elsewhere. I've been a HUGE BNL fan for years...been on all 3 cruises and I really WANT to love the "new" band...but c'mon guys! You really like Kevin as a lead??? Andy Creeggan are you out there???
I think Kev has an awesome vocal interpretation of this song; its a very interesting song to sing and he did it amazingly well. I actually like it in this key a lot more, for some reason.
It'll take some getting used to for a lot of BNL fans, but rest assured, this band STILL kicks ass!
Ed reminded the crowd that this is a song Kevin wrote as well. Wish my audio came out better. I had to process it to death so you could hear anything on this one.
I had to process my version too and unfortunately I was behind a REALLY tall guy and had to video the screen to the left the whole song. Luckily he kept ducking occasionally so I could get good pictures of the band.
Way betteer than I was expecting, and definately better than his part in If I had a million dollars. This...will take some getting used to though.... =(
The vocals did get better at the end. I love Kevin's voice but this was a little painful at first. Really nice that he dedicated it to Steve. I guess there will be some growing pains for the band and the fans as we all get used to this.
i LOVE Kevin on this song. it originally was his song vocally and then the decision was made to record it for the album as a Steve song. I'm glad to see Kev slip back into singing it so easily. Kevin has a unique voice which takes some getting to used to, but he does have vocal talent. Between him, and Ed, and Jim they will find a way to respectfully keep some songs in the live concert rotation in different ways.
Sorry, I have to disagree with you there - I think he has a fantastic voice. The sound quality is better at the end of the clip than at the beginning (no offence meant to iocon - the sound quality of concert clips often varies), the ending of this is just great. Thanks for posting the clip iocon :-)

Go Kevin!! I like the newer version of this song too. The acoustic, sort of 'Doo Wop' one, if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Was dedicating this song to Steve a jab at him? It kind of seemed in bad taste...
I'm definitely not the biggest fan of Kevin's voice. I love this song, though.

They really need to bring Kevin and Tyler forward, when they're singing, it's kinda weird to have to look so far back.

Indeed lacking the power of Page. I am not a fan of Kev's voice, but I thought this was pretty good. He wrote it, he deserves to sing it. :)

Kevin Hearn--Great guy. HORRIBLE vocalist. Sorry fellow BNL fans but this was my WORST nightmare. Off to find a new favorite band..Good luck!
