  • On a scale of 1- 10 what would you rate the car?

  • does the speed warning limit the speed of the car or does it just go off when you are over the set speed. is there a way to turn it off?

  • It is just something you can set to let you know when you are going over that speed but it doesnt prevent you from going faster. i didn't know how to turn it off.

  • why is your car dinging at you?

  • Not my car... Someone set the speed warning at 55MPH

  • in mexico the jetta 2009 has a sleek style beetween the old 2008 jetta and the jetta you all know that appears on the VW site. But i think this version of jetta is the last one in mexico. Next year 2010 there will only be this types of jetta

  • I wish the base stereo wasn't so dreadful

  • its automatic lol

  • yeah that was the only one they had, but actually the DSG is pretty cool how fast it shifts

  • it's cooler when it get's screwed up ;)

  • He's right, it costs cool cash when you have to repair or replace the DSG...drive it for fun, not like it's an actual Ferrari...you should get the most out of it.

  • ...is it a hustle tryin to find a Diesel station when u go far. Or its a given that Chevron, 76, and Shell do have always diesel.

  • It's not usually too bad, but it gets tricky looking for a 15 PPM ULSD station because the 500 PPM will hurt the exhaust system. They have green and white stickers on the pumps for the 15. I got stuck once in my Jeep putting in the 500PPM, but only one gallon to get to the next station. Best advise is to fill up when you have about 1/4 tank with the right stuff.

  • Out of a 1-10, what would you give this? Be very honest and critical of it.

  • Well I am still considering trading my Hyundai in on it, it is a good driving car. VW seems to have gotten their quality act together recently, and this engine is great. And you can't beat the $1300 tax credit. So overall I'd give it like an 8 or more. It's fun to drive but not an all out sports car. It does its intended purpose very well.

  • i'm trying to choose between this car and the 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo...any suggestions?

  • It really depends on your priorities. If you want a really fast car but dont care about fuel cost, go for the Chevy, but if you want good power with great economy, go with the VW. Let me know what you decide!

  • well the chevy has 260hp and 260lb.ft of torque. and its rated at 22/30mpg.

and the VW has 140hp and 235lb.ft of torque.

    and its rated around 42/50mpg.

so the VW gets about 20 mpg better.

  • If you have it narrowed down to those 2, then plan a back to back test drive one after the other. The VW will have it all over the Chevy in interior quality, fuel mileage and probabyl steering feel, but the chevy will no doubt be a lot more exciting in sound and acceleration.

  • yea, thats what i was planing to do. And yea chevy's sound and acceleration will be better and actually they handle really nice, but thats why they have a stiffer ride. And realistically 30mpg is good for how nice they perform, but i'm still researching and taking my time.

  • You sound like me, taste in cars is all over the board lol

  • i'm gonna take an educated guess and say that was an automatic. and wow. it sounds just like a gas engine. i never would've known it was diesel by listening.

  • Yes its that DSG which is pretty cool for an auto.

  • 2009 volkswagen jetta tdi (140hp 2.0l i4 engine) 45 mpg 14.5 gal tank = 653-mile range $4.35/gal diesel = $63.08 full tank $63.08 / 653 miles = 9.6 cents per mile Savings of 3.4 cents at 45 mpg 2009 volkswagen jetta tdi (140hp 2.0l i4 engine) "50 mpg" 14.5 gal tank = 725-mile range $4.35/gal diesel = $63.08 full tank $63.08 / 725 miles = 8.7 cents per mile savings of 4.3 Cents per mile or 33% even after the increase in the cost of diesel and that's assuming it stays that high.
  • unfortunately your calculations are off on one factor.

The 2.5 will get 29 MPG highway

the TDI "real life " hwy mileage has been measured at 44-45 with 50 mpg easily achievable. This exponentially increases savings.. your final calculation will look somthing like this.

  • my calculations were based on the -2006- jetta... i own one, and i still have the factory sticker. the epa gave it 30 hwy. 2007, they changed it to 29. and yes, i know the epa figures for the tdi are conservative. (i do plan on getting an 09 tdi, by the way) i'm just mad about diesel fuel prices. diesel USED to be cheaper than gas... but when they saw people going to diesel, up up up !

  • I own a 00 TDI yes diesel is higher, but it's really dropped alot where I'm at the difference is only about 5% now, and as for me i'm consistantly beating EPA with nearly 60US MPG. Diesel prices will settle down to slightly higher than regular within the next few weeks.

  • so, think getting a diesel engine will save you money? it will. but look how much. 2006 volkswagen jetta (150hp 2.5l i5 engine) 30 mpg 14.5 gal tank = 435-mile range $3.81/gal gasoline = $55.25 full tank $55.25 / 435 miles = 13 cents per mile 2009 volkswagen jetta tdi (140hp 2.0l i4 engine) 40 mpg 14.5 gal tank = 580-mile range $4.35/gal diesel = $63.08 full tank $63.08 / 580 miles = 11 cents per mile thanks to diesel price-gouging, your savings equate to $0.02/mile.
