I had a very quick question, i am looking at a 94 Mercedes S 500. Are they any good? Prolly not gas wise but oh well. All in all the satisfaction of what a mercedes is all worth it in the end in my own opinion. Was curious if you knew anything about em because I would love to trade my 97 E420 for it. (W210)
Thanks for postin this video!! I'm in the process of trying to find the right one now.. Anyone whos talking shit just hateing cause they didnt make a vid and get hella views of their car too

boring video... what was up with the music. I have a 1999 S600 (V12) with heated power rear seats and power open/close trunk lid... Nobody cares about the S320
wow, youre the coolest kid on the block, you know that? with your s600? tell me, how much does labor cost you every time something breaks on that unreliable v12, since there is literally no room in the engine bay to work. and how many MPG? and how much do you enjoy those power heated rear seats? oh wait, you don't, because you're driving. What a fail. I made this video when I was 15, how many videos have you made? GTFO.
@mike6269 I haven't had any problems with my S600 by the way. And if I did have problems then I would certainly be able to fix them. And the heated rear seats are great for my passengers. So stop hatin.
What a solid luxo - barge the W140 was. Excellent build quality, superb comfort and beautiful looks - the ultimate luxury car. They run forever. The S320 was the best engine in my opinion, offering the best balance of power and fuel economy. The car is huge - over 5 metres long and nearly 2 metres wide, weighing in at more than 2 tons. Nothing is built quite like an older Mercedes - Benz.
It's more than likely that your PSE pump has died ( I believe thats what it's called...I've been away from the W140 for a while now.) It's located under the rear passenger seat. It's known to go ka-put on these cars, so you may need a new one. You can also try pulling fuse number 9 I believe in the trunk. re-insert it after 2 or 3 minutes, then it should work for a bit longer, but thats only a temp fix.
I knew a taxi driver called stan, his 97 (W210) E-Class 240 Elegance had 3.2 Million miles on it, Original Gearbox & Engine.
Sadly he has passed.
Also the 2.3 litre 4 cylinder was "called less reliable than the E320s 3.2 straight six or V6"So imagine how long they could go for? my estimate is 6 million miles.
My love affair with Mercedes-Benz is growing day-by-day.
W140: a great specimen of what a car should be...the last of the over engineered Mercedes, now extinct...too bad they went the way of the dinosaur; they are rare splendid beasts...
hey i resent that comment about the swiss...hahah. made this vid back in high school. funny shit. im suprised no one was like..its an odometer asshole!
thanks again for all of the comments guys. unfortunately I have sold the car. It's in good hands down in georgia now :-) I am currently the proud owner of a 2007 VW GTI
Of course we miss the car, but we're young kids lacking the funds to maintain such a car. Being away at college and needing a daily driver that always works when we're home means realizing that the W140 requires more attention than we can offer it. We loved the car, especially me, it was probably the best car I'll ever own. But the gti ain't so bad, it's actually tons of fun, but of course its no Merc :-P I'm sure if I am successful in the future, I'll be the proud owner of an s600/600sel w140.
Mike - I know if you are young you possibly just want performance, but for my book the most gorgeous Merc ever is a W123.
Luckily, there are some excellent examples in the USA as rust doesn't seem to have killed them off.
If you ever want to reconsider a Mercedes (and now you've had one, I'm sure you will !) that's bulletproof, ultra reliable and has that bit of class that turns heads, check out a W123. If mine could cook, I'd tell the Wife to f*** off!
@baker4190 The S320, S420, and S500 were all the same size, it was only the engine that was different. BUT, they came in Short Wheel Base and Long Wheel Base.
I'm pretty sure the dude in the video's Benz is the LWB.
Dont hold me too it cause I'm not positive, but I think the LWB is like two inches or so (?) longer than the SWB. Might be less than two inches though.
thank you to all who have posted positive feedback, and even to those who haven't. It's nice to hear from my viewers :-). The video used to be a bit longer with a segment on my mom's BMW Z4 which I described.(the "actor" in this one is my brother.) any more comments or questions, feel free to leave them in the comment area.
Cool. I have an S320 here in London, England. Great car. Like you guys I prefer to cruise in mine rather than wrecking the tyres and transmission on burn-outs. So many gadgets.
Nice video! 5-stars from me.. It's pleasant to see that someone actually take care of their W140's instead of burning tires and driving 100 km/h in some random city in Turkey..
Either I go for this beauty in 6 months or a 300 SL (R129)what should I buy?
Great video. Love the Benz. But a correction to one of your facts. The door-closing mechanism started in 1992 on. But oh well. I own a 1999 Mercedes Benz S320. I love to see a fellow Mercedes Benz owner that knows how to take care of it, and an owner who is knowledgeable. Great Video again guy!
alpina, they're replicas of the amg double spokes you'd see on many other mercedes. to each their own opinion, but i thought they weren't too flashy and they fit with the mercedes style, seeing as they were designed by mercedes.
Great video, Great music, and of course the queen of mercedes.... The W140 :) One of the best cars that mercedes has ever produced!!! I love the W140! :D

The wheels on a w140 should always stay original... Mercedes makes the wheels to make the car look its best at every angle....

it depends on how you drive it but the merc diesel engine from the w124 (E class) can easily run a 1000000 km.

About how many miles can a mercedes-benz go before the engine dies?

They never die if you take care of them.
A Greek taxist called Gregorios Sachinidis made 4.6 million kilometres on his Mercedes Benz 240D. Amazing, but true =)

odometer (not 'mile counting thingie')

So that's what those Cross Things in the back are!
When I was in a Mercedes-Benz E420 4MATIC, i noticed that little cross, I just thought maybe the Swiss put something in the car. Wow.
What i also love about that E-Class, was the Rear Sun Protector.
lol..
