I think it's better to first drink with an older sibling or parent, as long as they're responsible. I think any smart parent knows that kids are often too curious for their own good, and there's really not much they can do to stop a kid from drinking. My first drink was with my older brother, and he told me he'd rather me drink with him than some crazy friends where I end up hurting myself or something. Just my opinion.
you can all thank the fucking liberals for these dumb ass laws and the mothers against everything in the world crying about everything. Driving drunk is stupid, but all there other rants are just cry baby bs
if im caught drinking at a party by the police(im 19 by the way) how much trouble can i get in? a ticket? jail time? if the state i live in is a factor i live in california
oh and I thought adulthood started at 18. I mean i can smoke my lungs out and if i commit a crime i go to jail with the other pieces of shit, not juvenile hall but still can't buy a beer in restaurants, stores, etc.
drivers who are 18 and under are more likely to crash and possibly get killed or kill someone else anyway due to inexperience anyway so increase driving age to 19 or whatever and lower the drinking age to 18, like everyone else
some people overreact so much. i never had a drink but im a kid under 15 and i think they overreact so much. my relatives in Australia and originally from Malta came and they thought that the law is absolutely ridicules. soon they're going to ban wine from church.
if you look at europe, most of the countries do not even have drinking age limits, yet they still have less deaths and binge drinkers then America every year. Why is that? Because of shit like these. Trying to get teens to not drink at all is a complete waste of time because they do it anyway. What should be done instead is show them how to drink responsibly. What's better: a kid learning how to drink with their parents at the dinner table or with their friend in a basement with some vodka?
@64TbirdLandau Since it is in their house the kids are their responsibility. Whatever happens to the kids in the house is on the parents house. It's quite fair, the parents need to know that when kids party, they do ignorant things. Taking the alcohol away from the kids and hiding it is the way to go. It just has to do with being a negligent parent.
Alcohol is poison to the body at any age. However, there is NOTHING WRONG!!! with drinking under age 18 or 21 any more than its wrong over those ages. Infact, once you're mature, you will be intelligent enough to drink very little or not at all. The problem is that people try to control other peoples lives to the point where self-control and common sense isn't being taught very much, but rather being dependant on the system is.
@pyscobrand, the problem is, the government wants to make it clear that you are a bitch to the control freaks. Instead of being taught self-control and common sense, the oppressors must make it clear to you and everyone else that you will do what you're told, when you're told. And if you start standing your ground and making sense out of the madness, you will be made to feel like an asshole/idiot.
@xpntrvfggd, thats about right, but the deeper issue is that alcohol is poison at any age and therefore should be avoided. Look beyond the illusion, the control freaks involved in government want it to get to you and for you to do nothing to correct the situation.
@NCC17O1Q, the only problem is your health in 10-30 years. You may or may not have kidney problems coming. The truth is, alcohol is poison at any age. The reason its legal, is that there is money to be made from it and its consequences. And its illegal for people under a certain age, to teach them that they are "owned" by the government and will get repremanded for not following the governments control. What needs to be taught more is self-control and common sense.
@usrname15, alot of money is lost if people are happy all the time. And if its true that hemp oil with THC (has to have THC) cures cancer, it would kill the cancer industry.
@ilovemesomechicken, people acted foolish, other people profiled the problem and pushed for more government interviention. It starts with the general public. If the general public can't/won't control themselves, the government gets involved.
@miketonon No a buch of old hags got together and decided to blame alcohol over the deaths of there dumbass kids, funny how the last president of madd was caught drinking and driving
This video is way too broad. There is a difference between having a drink or two at home from time to time and getting drunk and driving a car. I think this idea of telling teenagers they can't have any alcohol until age 21, is very backwards. For, after 21 it seems the attitude is, "hell! Go to a party and drink yourself silly!" It's a completely pointless double standard of this society, why not spend the time teaching them to drink responsibly? Which might actually prevent something.
I'm legal drinking age in many countries, but not in the US. I'd like to see some more effort being put into preventing those of legal age from being irresponsible with alcohol, because a good chunk of them are just as dumb if not dumber than teens who drink underage... it's just happens to be legal for them.
You can drink at 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your kidding! You mean 16 your old kids can legally buy booze, get fucked up and thats ok and legal??? If a 16 year old did that in America, he would be in JAIL!! Pay a huge fine and do weeks of community service. Not only that but the parents would go to jail and lose custody of the kid and the store owner that sold it to him would be arrested, have his store closed down and have a criminal record for lie!
Kid's drinking is a part of growing up for most people. Just like underage sex it's gonna happen no matter what. There's no point trying to tell a 17 or 18 year old HS (especially college student) not to drink. This is propaganda. What IS important is that they have a safe place to do it and don't drink and drive. Kids have sex and always will, so give them condoms. People are so god damn controlling that they think they can control everything. Let kids be kids and give em a safe place to do it.
That's a good question, and to be honest, I'm not sure what the answer is. The only thing I know is that if you completely restrict it (which we do) they will do it anyway and then there is NO control over what happens. It like street racing; give them NO place to do it and guess where they're gonna do it? That's the problem...
@valleyfever I have to disagree. I'm a teenager now, and no way am I going to drink underage. I think telling a teenager not to drink and the consequences of drinking IS very influential. I'm sure I would've had a drink (or more) by now had I not known what happens. Plenty of my teen friends have told me similar things. Kids WILL underage drink and have sex IF no one tells them the consequences. It's worth a shot. And this was an assignment for this guy, so give him/her a break, for petesake.
@controlessgirl, are you pretending to be a teenager to get them under the oppressive control the government so often pushes for? The truth is, alcohol is poison to the body at any age and should be avoided all togather. The problem is that common sense and self-control arn't taught enough and people are therefore lurred into the twisted mindset that the government and corporations that empower it seem to want for everyone.
@miketonon No, I'm not pretending to be a teenager. I'm a legit high schooler. And I agree with you; alcohol IS poison to the body at any age and should be avoided- maybe not alcohol together, but drinking too much/irresponsibly.
@valleyfever, yes, people are too controlling of other people. However, the deeper issue, is that society today teaches people to be dependant on the control freak system, rather than teaching self-control and common sense. Alcohol is poison at every age and therefore would be best avoided.
@valleyfever Agreed more than 100%.... Americans overreact... In all of the European countries its legal to drink at 16 and its not a problem at all, some people make it sound so deadly and stupid... its just alcohol.
That's an absolutely beautiful regurgitation of lies.
