He didn't stun the Colossus, so he saw him coming and stopped him.

It DID have a boulder but that hardly did anything. He slams his hands on the little balcony where Kratos is fighting the soldiers. Kratos then attacks his hands until he raises his arms away from him. Do that three times, and the Colossus will hold his head with one hand, and THEN you catapult towards him and do a Quick Time Event sequence.

@darktiger113 That happens if you fail to prevent one of the Sisters of Fate from destroying the sword that Kratos used to kill Ares in GOWI. If the sister succeeds, that cutscene occurs. Without the sword, Ares easily kills Kratos, hence present Kratos cannot exist.
