Lbfiveo, 500hp will not get you into the 5's. Not even if the car is set up for 1/8 mile. 500hp to the rear wheels may get you there @ 2800lbs. But that's far fetched. Who knows, stranger things have happened.
Bro the owner of this car is right... I have an 03 cobra with 700plus hp and goes 6.7@106 on the 1/8mile so I believe a foxbody with less than 3,000 pounds and around the 450-550hp mark can easily go into the 5's on the 1/8mile no problem... Not 2 mention there's need 2 be many suspension work done 2 the car... I'm saying this cuz I also have a 91' coupe that goes 6.9@95 1/8mile with just a lil over 400hp... Thanks 4 the nice video.. Nice car by the way.... :)
Did you guys ever run this car? I built another 357, TFS High ports this time around. Engine was a .40 over block, CHP pistons 14.1 compression with a .720 lift solid roller, had a bit too tight 8" converter. Car went best of 10.17 @134 mph with a 1.47 60ft, I think the converter was too tight. I shifted at 7500 rpms, That was with a 950hp too and a vic jr I have put in a loose converter and super victor and a 1050 carb since. Hoping to finally get in the 9's. BTW this is in a 2800lb hatch.
my motor made 468 and went 5.77 in the 1/8 its a 257 stock crank and rods custom grind cam canfield heads with 1.6 rockers and custom pistons for the heads 11.5.1 compression and mine is full roller with a type R intake and not alot of tuning i know i loose power being injected but i drive mine on the street and get 20mpg on the highway and 1 and 7/8 primary headrs will help with some more power
I actually had went to a 1 7/8 and they did not pick up anything, not even a tenth.
The Camshaft you went with a Hydraulic roller or mechanical? Was it degreed or installed straight up? Did you go 5.77 on motor or spray? Cause 5.77 in the 1/8th (Depends also if the car is set up to run 1/8 or 1/4) is 9.00's.
After talking to my cylinder head guy today 468 RWHP isn't enough to get the car even at 2800lbs race wait into 5's in the 1/8 mile. More like 600+ at the rear wheels.
@TeefRacing yeah it should be faster...... 5.77 is over 11 seconds in a 1/4 mile, and you gof aster after the 1/8 mile, there is no bullshit about this
Also, was this car ever raced? I went 10.70 @ 125 MPH with a 1.49 60ft with my old 357 Cubic inch Windsor. Motor was pretty mild, 11.5.1 compression with Cnc'd Performer heads, Solid flat tappet camshaft, Vic Jr. with a 850 carb. Trans was a c4 with a 8inch Dynamic 5500 converter. I was thinking about building another 357, but I'm still quite unsure if they can run a good ### I am looking to go 9's this summer on motor. Thanks for any info.
Up where im at i see alot of guys runnen 383's in mid to low 9's i just bought a 90 fox gt 3 months ago i sold a 93 cobra about 4 years ago for a Termi and i missed the Fox but im also looking at getten into the low 9's high 8's area and have yet to decide what engine to use im still refabricating the car and the catch is i know i want power steering and i want a/c so its been hard trying to decide on an engine but im think im gunna go threw Roush/Yates motors an pick from there any ideas?
I knew it was coming, chevy had to copy sbf indution plus exhaust configruation to get the sbc up to par. Have to take a close look to determine what make it is.
ls1 head looks more like a sbf than 262/283/302/305/307/327/350/400.
im glad you like fords but please have someone spell check your posts bud your making us ford guys look worse than we are and dont post if you dont know shit about the car, its obviously a ford engine what makes you think other wise it shows it for gods sake.
I have lived in EL Paso for over 20yrs and never heard of your business until today do you ever sell any of these fox bodies I would like to build one but it is are hard to find one that hasn't been beat up. You guys sure can make a pony car a runner.
Problem with these setups is they are too loud and attract unwanted attention when street driving. Nice car though, probably will be a track car. I know in CA that car would get impounded by LAPD if you tried driving it on the streets here in LA.
Why would LAPD impound a car if you're not doing anything illegal? I could understand it if you're street racing or something but just cruising through town or something there's nothing wrong with an O/R X pipe, HCI and longtubes. Thank God I live in Texas.
I have a cousin who lives in California, and the reason the L.A.P.D would impound the car is the clean air laws that they have there, there is know way that the cam running is this car is emissions legal, and also street racing is an epidemic out there!!
that's why california is for faggots, seriously, that car is legal in Texas, that's why Texas kicks ass. We have fast cars, hot women, big 4x4s and a hell of a lot of guns.
Amen! Its even better if you don't live in town. I can do burnouts at will in front of my house and there's no one to answer too. Open headers? Go ahead! No problem here. I do pretty much what I want.
