If you do not believe the central doctrine that Jesus will return to destroy the world when it gets bad enough then why call yourself Christian? Questioning that tenant should also call into question the rest of your beliefs.

I think the best thing we can do, as atheists, is the help promote the Doomsday date of May 21, 2011. Drive up the frenzy and help everyone get all worked up for the date and then, come May 22 ask everyone, "What happened?" Then remind them how many times in the past the End was predicted, and even Jesus in the Bible claimed that some of his Disciples would still be alive when it came (i.e circa 100 C.E. as seen in Mark 8:31 - 9:1, parallel passage in Matt 16:28 and Lk 9:27)
