@raymieX Most people turn to local news for *local* news, so I'd say no. Most stations do a "first look" at weather nowadays. As for sports, WTKR ditched their sports department a few years ago and the anchors do sports highlights on the weekends. Today, most people get their national sports news from ESPN, etc. WTKR does incorporate local sports coverage in their newscasts.
Quite an odd format for a first segment. And I had no idea that Tal White had been there that long
