  • Hyperion is like a giant space potato traveling around Saturn

  • Mimas is a real life death star

  • AWESOME! I think Cassini-Huygens has been the most successful mission ever! I don't know why NASA won't study Uranus and Neptune. Uranus has 5 Major Moons, (total = 27). Neptune has 1 Major Moon, (total = 13) Triton, which is Geologically Active! It has cryovolcanism written all over it! The only images and information we have of those worlds are from Voyager 2. Why have Uranus & Neptune been left out for so long? Triton is an ODD moon! It has Nitrogen Geysers everywhere! LET'S GO TO THEM NASA!

  • @MazeleyFanClub You are partially right. The dark dust was mostly blown off of another moon, but the reason why it has the dark light look is because, one side is heated more by the sun making all of the light material (ice) on that side to sublimate over to the other side, making the dark side even darker and separating the two materials to opposite sides. This is from NASA/JPL

  • ...who wants go to the mars rigth now??

    with a joint ,oohh yeahh...

  • how come all the other planets moons have awesome names (e.g. enceladus, hyperion, titan, etc.) but ours is just "the moon". seems a little smug and lacking in the creativity department.

  • @ku62jo62 Boot eye dun wahn tew yoose meye remane eeng brane sells

  • @ku62jo62 Our moon is called Luna, our planet is Earth, our star is Sol.

  • Is it just me, or does the Odysseus crater on Tethys make it look kind of like the Death Star?

  • @vxMarksmanxv

    I think Mimas looks cooler.

  • Atlas <3 My favorite satellite in all of the solar system!

  • Atlas is cool!

  • Didnt know pandora really existed. Though it looks ugly here

  • Space is too amazing! It's complexity is astonishing at the least

  • This video cured my ADHD, and now I am really wondering why the photo of Ti...LOOK A CROP CIRCLE!!! What was I saying? Oh yeah. Why is the photo of Titan so blurry? Is there something there we're not supposed to see NASA? Hmmm...

  • B.T. Barnum is awesome. That is all.

  • 3 thumbs down? Really?

  • i loved the music!

  • Where is Ijiraq?????

  • @firehop3 Out to lunch.

  • I like Atlas the best... a world that really is flat!

  • 2:20 is that death star from star wars?

  • These are beautiful thank you, and please continue!

  • Beautiful.

  • Can moons have moons?

  • @niiidar It's physically possible. Geostationary satellites in orbit around our moon are proof of that.

  • When does a large rock orbiting a planet become a moon? Like, what's the limit that defines if a large rock is just a large rock, or if it is a moon?

  • Has anyone found evidence of a moon orbiting another moon?

  • Awesome. I could watch this several times

  • I love SpaceRip !!! AWESOME !!

  • Fascinating!

  • I think everyone can agree, mimas is the best moon ever!

  • @davidt0504 That's not moon that's a space station.

  • wow atlas is strange :P

  • Calypso looks like an airplane :P

  • 0:44 Calypso Looks like a shoe mold, doesn't it?

  • are they irregular shaped because they're not big enough for gravity to pull them to spheroid?

  • Titan FTW!

  • Beautiful and amazing. I would've liked some more info though. Suppose I'll have to look it up. :)

  • LOL,

I had to laugh at Prometheus! lol.

  • @bcta302 dude, he would kill you.

  • nice vid spacerip, ty

  • imo Jupiter's moons kick saturn's moons asses anyday of the week! altho saturn is a sexier planet than jupiter... Jupiter knows how to accesorize! its all about the accessories!

  • @Froggeh92 almost 90% of which we know NOTHING about.

  • @Froggeh92 Hey! Saturn has Titan *and* Enceladus. Titan is large and brimming with with organics. Enceladus may be small, but it's spewing samples of its salty oceans out into space. Ripe for the picking. Europa is tantalizing. But how are we ever going to get to the water underneath that ice shell. As for the accessories, are Saturn's rings not enough? Jupiter is a big muscular boring bloke. Nothing more.

  • Thanks SpaceRip. I always love it when I see your uploads its always so nice pictures. Even though I'm not always sure about what I am looking at its really enjoyable watching and learning like this.

In the news (here in Denmark where I'm from) the other day, they talked about a planet that looks almost like Earth. Maybe you can make a movie about that?:)

  • Beautifull video. i love Moons :)

  • Comment removed

  • LOL "The Back Shelf" ....or the moons that Saturn forgot xD

  • Damnit, you left out my favourite moon. How dare you....

  • good video

  • poor Atlas, weird looking moon.

  • Proteus is actully the largest known irregular body in the solar system (neptunes moon). In terms of which is my favourite moon, it has to be Iapetus! Very complex in looks and features.

  • I was under the impression that the colour tone difference of Iaptus was due to the colection of material deposited from Enceladus.

  • Saturn has got to be one of the most fascinating objects found in space.

  • Good vid man

  • Amazing video

  • the thumbnail for the video almost caused me to write this subscription off.

  • 2:36 OMG DEATHSTAR

  • precioso

  • What's the size threshold for moons? By that I mean, at what point is it so small that it's just an orbiting asteroid? Some of these moons just seem so tiny and irregular they don't really match the image of a moon that our nicely rounded large moon has. Is it possible that a moon will eventually be deemed too small and downgraded to large asteroid ?

  • @lejink yes

  • Atlas looks crazy. How did it get that shape? It looks like some imagined flat world with a mountain in the middle and the darker area being the surrounding ocean. Also can Mimas and Tethys shoot planet destroying lasers? just asking ;)

  • Mimas looks like the freaking Death Star!

  • That Atlas was a weird looking moon.

  • how heavy is earth and our moon?

  • I like the part when you show the moon

  • i would love to see them up close and personal!

super job of getting it put together!!

traveling thru them would be so cool, both ways, figuratively and physically speaking!!!!

  • I don't get when they say "Titan is being consumed by methane based life forms"

  • @fear432 no the hydrogen and acelytane is being consumed

  • So pandora in real life is just a big rock. Sorry avatar, you got it wrong.

  • para el relax, la música fascinante y el conocimiento de las lunas de saturno

  • Atlas is the best!

  • prometheus kicks ass!!!!!!

  • Beautiful pictures

  • omg how can u not mention narvia or surtur ?

  • @Adj19888

    wtf are u talking about?

  • @LonexX18 those are moons also

  • @Adj19888

I know but why should the mention two of the smallest moons? There's hardly enough time for the big ones and you are upset about the fact that they didn't mention two really small ones? come on man

  • @LonexX18 man i love them what can i do

  • @Adj19888

I love all of them aswell man, if they made a movie about Saturn's Moon I'd even go to the cinema. Space is amazing and space is our future.Keep looking up.

  • @LonexX18 well said , peace bro

  • Beautiful,Awesome...Thank You!

  • Great video, but that thumbnail looks horrible!! Thanks for sharing :-)

  • I think the one side of Iapetus is darker because of the much larger less dense ring that can be seen in infrared (I think Spitzer found it). The moon does not rotate and picks up the debris from this ring.

  • 1:26 like the sides of Trees, moss.....

  • Muy interesante este video, jamas habia visto las lunas de Saturno, me imaginaba que todas serian esfericas, pero no es asi.

    Hermoso video, gracias.

  • Atlas looks like a partially flattened moon... Apparently it's created by dust accumulating around the equator but the ridges seem to flow toward the equator almost as if it was due to 2 rocks colliding and then rapidly cooling or some sort of explosion in it's core that basicly melted the middle making it collapse in on itself? IMO it doesn't look like accumulated dust.

  • A lot of these moons are "new"

  • Absolutely stunning! :)

  • Beautiful music too

  • Atlas looks like a UFO :P

  • @SpaceRip Why is prometheus your favorite moon?

  • @seb612schuth It's shaped like a potato. i like potatoes... what can i say?

  • @SpaceRip I knew that was the reason! Called it!

  • @SpaceRip You need a lot of sauce for a potato that big. Wonder how many megatonnes of potato are eaten each day on earth. Would give us a nice estimate of how big a potato needs to be to feed all of us:D

  • @SpaceRip so, will you eat prometheus o_O

  • @SpaceRip just think they're neat? hahah.

  • @SpaceRip I was hungry when I said that....ha ha

  • @SpaceRip potatoes are good... got some irish in your blood? LoL

  • how do u know the mass..................

  • @gulwant F=GmM/r2 thats how.

  • @ShutUpMomImOnMSN in english ?

  • @gulwant Just google it. It takes too long time explaning it.

  • The heavenly bodies moves so gracefully like a melody orchestrated by God. Personally, if I had the choice of living on any (even stars, although i won't live for a millisecond) planet/moon/star, I would. Frankly, i've grown bored of earth, which is one of the reason i want to become an Astrophysicist to study things far beyond human comprehension. The Universe is so beautiful but yet so chaotic.......

    It's perfection!

  • @JetsuSeal You mention god and later you comment is so true. Dont know if i should give you thumbs up or down.

Well hows this? On first part (Go suck a bible), second part (you said it beautifully, i can relate)

  • @barakuda1111 Well, everyone has their beliefs, opinions, ideologies, and philosophies.

    Am I right? (rhetorical)

P.S. I know my descriptive words are almost synonyms but emphasis is good.

  • lol woop 15th comment!

  • 2:15 death star

  • 5:22 Atlas has a very odd and unnatural appearance.

  • Very nice video! Atlas look very weird.

  • I want to make sure whats going on on Titan !!! So exciting !

  • Just amazingly beautiful.

  • Promotheus and the element Promethium, are they anyway related?

  • @bushbar123 They're both named after the Greek god Prometheus.

  • wow interesting

  • should have added some information below each asteroid/meteorite(dont remember the difference)

  • I see where Star Wars took their Death Start idea from...

  • Thump up if you wish Earth had more then one moon.

  • @TheMoh668 Yes, who doesn't wish that, nothing bad could ever happen. Oh wait...

  • @TheMoh668 I was just thinking that :) But we have this one and its hardly anything done on it.

  • @TheMoh668

Im pretty sure that having 2 moons would unbalance a lot of things on Earth.

  • @TheMoh668 Um... Pretty sure that would mess up the sea a LOT.

  • @TheMoh668 Earth does have a 2nd moon, Cruithne. It is also known as 1986 TO, and is 5 kilometers wide (tiny by any stellar standard). It's orbit was calculated in 1997 to be very close to one year, though it changes in cycles to be slightly longer and shorter orbital periods. The Oscilation is aprox a 760 year cycle.

  • @Bludgeonier Cruithne is in a normal elliptic orbit around the Sun. Its period of revolution around the Sun, approximately 364 days at present, is almost equal to that of the Earth. Because of this, Cruithne and Earth appear to "follow" each other in their paths around the Sun. This is why Cruithne is sometimes called "Earth's second moon".[2] However, it does not orbit the Earth and is not a moon.

  • @sakuyarules True that Cruithne fits the definition of a near Earth astroid because it follows closely a solar orbit which varies between 362 and 371 days, but durring a long term observation in 1995-7 it was found to also interact with and orbit Earth during the oscilation. Meaning it does not fit in either a solar orbit or an Earth orbit, but does both. It is in limbo between beeing a true moon and being a loose rock. Only future generations will see it be in one catagory or the other.

  • @Bludgeonier I see. I was simply copying what was written in wikipedia. When you mentioned a second moon I was intrigued, after seeing that wiki article (I know that's not nearly enough research, but meh), just didn't want everyone to get the wrong idea is all.

  • @sakuyarules It is great to see people who do research! Glad that you pointed out how Cruithne dosn't fit the usual definition of a moon. More info is always a good thing, and not easy to get when there is a charicter limit. :)

  • @Bludgeonier is there any possibility that Earth's gravity will attract Cruithne and be its 2nd moon to orbit the planet..?

  • @gizme123 You're boring. Go play.

  • 61! :O

  • 61!.... i never knew that
