Well its not entirely true - in the most northern part of Greenland I think they go something like 2 months without sunlight, in the south the sun shines for a minimum of 4 hours a day during the darkest of winters. Vice versa during summers. The summers without night and winters without sun only occur north of the Arctic Circle (66° 33′39″), leaving the southern part of Greenland untouched by the phenomenon.
