@crankymrman There is more info on housing on goarmy.com under Soldier Life-Being A Soldier-Housing. YouTube doesn't let us put links in comments so this is the best I can do. Hope it helps!
....so base housing on some posts hasn't gone to shit, and perhaps has even been picked up a bit. Good. Someone has done the correct thing, and is probably going to be fired by the God damn bankers when they find out about this outrage of treating senior NCOs with due respect.
@guitarhamster102 I'm aware of that. I was replying how the video was trying to impress people into joining the military so they could get these type of housing.
The officer housing looks just like that, so does the E2 housing. It's more cookie cutter (and more cheaply built) than when it was run by the military.
@AMT4245 This is not unrealistic for a SFC (which he is), given the base pay, allowances, and bonus pay and benefits he receives. Especially if his wife has a similar income. It is obvious that a PFC right out of BCT and AIT will not have a house like this, because this man has likely been in the army around 15-20 years given his age and rank.
Don't join the army if you think you will be rich and live a luxurious life, no matter what anyone tells you, because you won't.
@AMT4245 Are you kidding me? You do realize he makes about 50K a year with no House expenses right? Almost everything in the house the army pays for plus a family and clothes stipend. Plus this guy could retire before the age of 45.
@sneekpeekz Actually, in the Army, it all depends on how many kids you have. There are privates who have homes just like these. The Army has been tearing down all of their old housing & building nice, modern homes.
The quality of living on an Army post isn't what it was back in the 1980s or before.
They've taken great strides to drastically improve the overall quality of living for today's modern soldier!
@sneekpeekz I didn't mean that as a "Uh-uh...you're wrong" kind of thing! LOL! I just meant that living conditions have improved for soldiers across the board! WHICH IS AWESOME!

He's only NCO though. So if you're married and you're just an NCO, you get THIS much stuff?
guitarhamster102 6 months ago
This is bullshit. The only soldiers who get to live in this type of housing are either Officer, NCO, or are married.
If you're not one of those category, you'll like in some kind of bunk room that is shared by other soldiers similar to your rank.
RoyalDog214 6 months ago
@RoyalDog214 the guy's a NCO who's probably had 10 years worth of service time.
