  • i just bought a 1978 cadillac fleetwood brougham d'elegance talk about the drive train being like a truck i thought it was a truck with a cadillac body when i first filled mine (110.00 dollars in canada) but mine dose not seem to guzzle gas i also have a 1989 fleetwood sedan fwd with a 4.5 litre v8 and they seem to get the same gas mileage

  • God, I love the Detroit craftsmanship on these old caddies, It's really a miracle all the electronics are prestine... Good the owner didn't go for a sunroof, that would be bound to start leaking... Also, can someone explain the point of a PA on a car!?!?

  • Just like the one my father had. This was the last car you looked at before you bought a limousine. First class cruiser, with the emphasis on class.

  • Were there any Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance sedans done up in Mary Kay Pink for Mary Kay Cosmetics?

  • how much you want for this car??

  • t@mikemer79 dont think he is selling it bc this was like his first car witch he really liked

  • 200 bhp right?

  • these were the days when Cadillac was the luxury leader. then they fell off the map in the 80's and 90's. It wasn't until the 2000's to now where Cadillac started really getting back in the luxury leader game again.

  • i have one mines silver i love it the ride is smooth

  • If you have the time, please post a video when you've washed and waxed her. Or mabye you've already posted one that I've missed? Anyway, I would love to see this beauty glisten and glow in the sunlight! Hope she is still doing okay.

    Greetings from Finland.

  • I love those leather seats! Very plush.

  • I had that car. The ride was like driving on a cloud. Does yours have the fiber optic indicators for the turn signals?

  • That bitch start right up.NICE!!!

  • 3:11 Wow.... that is cool!

  • Wow... The horn sounds like it's from a train!

  • Nice man; I got a 78 deville d,elegance in the same color but with red velour interior. How does that siren work?

  • HOWS THE FULE ECONOMY ON THAT??

  • @usaLINCOLN Piss poor, But thats not the point of a caddy.

  • when wil you make a new video

  • what color is this called cause mine is like this its pinkish but i dont know its name

  • Nice car,i want to by one.

  • Dude seriously, here in Sweden we had an exact copy of that when i was somewhat younger! Lovely cars, keep it on the road!

  • I am Jealous, I want that car lol

  • i have never seen those key holes on the side before. How does it work as an alarm?

  • whats the mpg on it? i have a 79 fourdoor in my eyesight.

  • dude, you should put plastic or cloth between the stored wheel covers so they don't get scatched

  • Stainless gets scratched easily. Detail and polish those hubcaps and they will look like new.

  • i have the same exact car color and everything, my in interior is plush

  • Do the opera lights still work on the vinyl top?

  • Thats a fuckin caddy dammit!.

  • @vfIskullangel no shit

  • @vfIskullangel no shit!!!

  • damm.... how many kilo meters it can walk in 20 liters of gas?

  • The most amazing thing about your Fleetwood is that you somehow managed to have the origional factory wheel covers which were painted the same color as the car. It is very rare to find a 1977, 78, or 79 Fleetwood which still has those painted wheel covers. I was sorry to see that you did not have the painted wheel covers on the car in your video as those painted wheel covers give the car it's final touch and makes it a true classic, and a real head-turner in it's day.

  • 30 years ago, at age 16, I learned to drive in a 1978 Cadillac Fleetwood. Your Fleetwood is nearly identical to the one I learned to drive in, except I think my parent's Fleetwood was a slightly darker color than yours, more brown than bronze. To this day, I have yet to drive in, or ride in, a more comfortable car. The 425V8 was spunky and it handled pretty well for 2.5 tons of rolling living-room, and I don't have to tell you how a 16 year old boy drives a car.

  • You should of blocked out the Lic plate #.

  • is it 5.5 litter? or only 5.0?

  • he said 7.0 liter

  • @hlahla41 7.0

  • Nice! I know some modern fuel injected cars that don't start that fast. That is a REAL car!

  • Nice Caddy!

  • im selling my 78 sedan deville contenental. too bad anyone that wants it is sooo far away. 48,000 miles on it.

  • how is your caddy doing man i just tk my 78 to a car show today only 78 that was there lol

  • You should give a tour of that TSX!

    Nice car(s) y'all have there.

  • nice i have a 78 fleet brough dL also.. checkitout youtube: 5howca5e

  • its very clean but pretty dirty sounds like the band the bare naked ladies

  • both of my caddys are the same color lol gold metalic color there nice cars they hug the road like a beast compared to todays new junk cars lol

  • Memories! I had a '78, pastel blue with a dark blue roof. Unfortunately, though I put a lot of maintenance into it, the rust eventually won. I got rid of it when the rust was beyond my minimal bodywork skils to handle. The electronics and accessories eventually all failed, but it'd always get you home. It was hardly a car without flaw, but man, it DID have a lot of class, especially when it was young.

(Get the spoked wheel covers! )

  • show us how the alarm works.

  • Ya know I am thinking about getting one of these within the next year or so. Its a very nice car. I want one that is maybe black or silver and maybe like...1975-1985 those are my favourite years for them. Nice car man! Love it!

  • classic car for sure, looks great on the video. Nice that the interior looks like it was well cared for as well.

  • nice cadillac i have 2 old ones myself

  • I fixed up a blue 78 brougham for about 3 years at BOCES. Under the hood was just out of whack, transmission shot, upolstry peeling molded and battery flood, body was bent up, parts were missing, rust all over looked like a cow on acid.lol But luckily the teachers let me fix it even when i wasnt in that class anymore until last year i finnished it. That was my first ever car that i got a chance to show my skills on.

  • what was the little keyhole on the side for?

  • That is where you put the special key in to arm the alarm system.

  • @1979lincolncoupe

how does the alarm system work? is like car now a days with the alarm and stuff?

  • @eskimochild87 I have no idea

  • no that's a car. TH400, thats a serous transmission. a 425 ci engine. thats crazy big. i wonder what it gets for hp and torque? seems to run really smooth. what kind of fuel mileage does it get, probably not too good. but no one cared about it back then.

  • Factory rated at 185 HP. That was probably less than actual numbers. Emission standards of the day, and such. Probably it delivered about 300-350 HP. 320 Ft-lbs of torque per the manual. Again, that's probably conservative. My '92 Camry has 185 HP and the Caddy was probably about as quick as it is, though it was much heavier.

The L33 425 is one of the most rugged, reliable motors ever made. Some peformance parts are available for it but they're not cheap or common.

  • Great car! Does the air conditioning work?.

  • Yes it works well and it's converted to R-134a as well.

  • i always had a soft spot for late 70s cadillacs like this and cadillac always had made very exotic engines

  • I have a 77 Eldorado too and absolutley adore it. A dream to drive, show off, and work on.

  • I got a 77 eldorado and a bunch of other cadillacs that i don't feel like naming them all but the 77 eldo is my favorite.

  • Sweet car (old school)

  • nice caddilac better than the northstars that are always blowing headgaskets i seen so many late model caddilacs collecting dust cause of the northstar engine i wouldnt own one unless it was given to me lol btw i thought these cars came with a 502?might just have been an added option not sure

  • The 500 (8.2 Liter) was standard on Cadillacs for 1975-1976. 1977 to 1979 the 425 (7.0 Liter) was standard. The only other options for 1977-1979 were a fuel injected 425 or the rarer 350 diesel.

  • oh ok well few yrs ago i almost bought a 1980's cadillac it had the 512 big block in it ran the numbers and it was what it said it was so thats why i asked i heard the 512 is a very rare option on these cars but only a few are seen i even seen a caddillac with a 429 big block yours is nice as well but probally bad on gas

  • I thought the northstars are known for there reliability, didnt one go for like 100k without an oil change or something?

  • I love your cadillac, It's beautiful :)

yes i have the chrome all around the bottom of the car.. I never noticed that my 77 has that too but i guess the car is too dirty for me to noticed.. that or the ass of the car is so beautiful i can;t stop staring

Your's starts up better then mine. but mine's battery is also dieing lol.

  • whats so good about these old ones my 99 deville is better

  • Haha not with the Northstar it isn't

  • how isnt it? 99 its proformance is better, its faster. those old ones weigh too much even if the engine is bigger.

  • Well I actually never said the older ones are better... I just personally like them more. The newer ones are nice, but they just don't have the same character. All the nice little details were gone from Cadillacs after the early 90's like the fiber optic light indicators, the little trash cans inside, the super comfy leather seats, etc. Besides, older Cadillacs are not about going fast, just style.

  • that is an awesome car you need to take care of it and prove the nay sayers that kids cant own nice cars

i own a 1983 pontiac trans am daytona 500 edition

my brother had a a 1977- 1978 pontiac grand prix with a cb radio and pa system boy did he tick off my mom and dad

  • thats identicle to mine like the exact colour and everything!!!!!

  • That has the unique "trumpet horn" that was a Caddy option (and some Buicks) for many years. It takes four seperate units at different tones for that sound, and it became standard for the 1988(?)-1996 Fleetwoods and also the 1994-1999 DeVille. It's a shame that the new Cadillacs today only come with ho-hum dual horns, and sound like a Chevy.

  • No, Cadillac did not offer aluminum rims at that time. Yes the vinyl roof is stitched, and the interior also has a lot of stitched material, I have to say though after driving this and then driving my Mercury, the Mercury's inside feels kinda cheap, I know it isn't a Lincoln, but just some things seem so like flimsy.

The 8-track is stereo, but it is not called Quadraphonic like Fords, it just says "Stereo Eight". I believe every 8-Track came standard with stereo.

  • forgot one more question? was the cb radio factory installed? the antenna seems like its in a ....how can I put it nicely ...unslightly spot

the lincoln interiors (4-door) were amazingly similar to the grand marquis, I hate how ford got rid of the handles at the back of the seats..makes lincoln look real cheap, they had nice carpets though

love the alarm system too, with the caddy emblem...cadillac really took pride in the 70s..all the little details are really nice

  • No, the CB is not factory installed, I installed the CB radio and antenna myself. I tried make it look as nice as possible though haha.

  • im a lincoln person myself...but its a cool car...couple of questions...did the caddy have an aluminum rim option for 78? it seems kinda cheap on their part that they didnt offer any rim packages only hubcaps?

the vinyl roof looks awesome...I noticed how its stiched as opposed to the heated sealed type used on fords

for the 8-track is it quadraphonic? I know fords had the base 8-track and then you could upgrade to a quad deck?

  • I'm not much of a Cadillac man, I really love Lincolns, but after watching this video, I may be persuaded to buy otherwise.

  • Thats a Beautiful Cadillac!! These are some of my favorites.

  • I believe in 1983 or 1984 they discontinued use of the buzzer completely.

  • It has 2 buzzers and 1 chime. One buzzer for key-in ignition, which you can clearly hear in the video, and another buzzer for the headlight reminder. It uses a chime/dinging noise for the fasten seatbelt reminder, however that dinger and light has been disconnected for some reason.

  • When did Cadillac start using chime for all three functions rather than just the seatbelt reminder?

  • Does this Cadillac have a gentle chime or a scary buzzer?

  • This is a great car. I own one myself. It has been in my family since '80 and now I can take my kids for a ride in it.

  • I have this same car. Mine is the same except I have velour interior and the radio/CB. Color is the same...Firemist. Would like to talk to you about the car. Email me at pconlin @ charter . net

    Beautiful vehicle.

  • beautiful old Cadillac

  • Sounds very smooth and quiet!
