  • i'm really sorry i have to say this but...Sweeney Todd is very much Serverus Snape sounding.

  • Lovett is really good! I like how she points that huge knife at him. lol very funny

That stage is really huge! Must be nice to have such a large stage

I dont quite understand what the people sitting on the sides are for though, are they part of the ensemble? Interesting that you placed them on stage like that.

  • @leperello56 I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted a comment like that on the first part

But this douchebagknown as mortology got pissed at me for stating my opinion

  • did they really pretend there was food there!! :) imaginative!!!

  • the orchestra is AWFUL!!!!!! but otherwise not bad at all

  • my skool did sweeney todd and it was EPIC 9 of my m8s got killed (thats the random people that get killed and ms lovett judge etc..)

  • Hey you guys did a pretty good job! You should come see Norte Vista's production of Sweeney Todd in March! I am actually playing the part as Mrs. Lovett! Its so fun! I cant wait for opening night! :D

  • I can't believe that school actually did this! I wanted mine to! oh well, lol good job, but which one is PVHS?

  • @crazyaboutsims2: Ok it´s not perfect, but the voices are awesome!

    I like it!

  • Omg, the knife falling looked like it was planned, all except Sweeney trying to catch it lol but you guys did good.

  • Aw. I saw Mrs. Lovett with the flour, dough, and the knife and it looked all real, then you ruined it by not using any pies.

And the audeince does not seem very interested.

The Backing Track is awful. Its bland. Not Powerful and Enjoyable like it should be.

  • I think this is a live pit.

  • That doesn't mean you can't laugh or anything.

  • What?

That made no sense...I dont understand

  • is ms. lovett an alto? i want to try fot that part but i'm more of a mezzo.

  • Most of Lovett's songs are in the alto/mezzo range, but she has to sustain a couple pretty high notes.

    Good luck! :D

  • Mrs. Lovett is kinda screaming a bit, but it kinda works, because she obviously would be a bit over excited if there was a customer....

    The stage is so cool!!!

  • Thank you! :D

  • i dont think lovett is too bad.

    she is rather screaming

and it doesn't need to be that way

yea, its not much singing, more like yelling,

but i dont think its horrbile

Sweeneys coat looks like its from the latest issue of fashion magazine

    also,

sweeney sounds like he's just muttering

nothing behind it: Subtext it up

use that like its an illegal drug

  • wow great acting...........not

  • If you're going to criticize something you should elaborate instead of behaving like a catty child.

That said, I'd be glad to hear any criticisms you have if you're willing to go into greater detail.

  • i feel like there's a significant amount of excuses made on criticisms of this.

everything that wrong went wrong for a reason, such as poor directing or casting, not lack of props/difficult music/stage size

  • My response to the lack of props was just that: the lack of props. Pies get in the way and can barely be seen from the audience; that's why we didn't use them.

The music IS difficult. It's Sondheim, and you can't deny its difficulty. I have not used this as an excuse, but as a response: People ask why harmonies or notes are off, and the answer is because the music is exceedingly difficult to sing. It's not a bad thing necessarily, it's simply the reason.

  • I always thought it was harder to play than to sing. I thought that's what everyone always talked about when they said it had difficult music. But anyway, Mrs. Lovett does have the most difficult vocals in the show I think.

  • Although the vocals are challenging, I'd have to agree with you there. This score is widely considered one of the most challenging in musical theater. However hard the actors had it, I'm sure the pit had it about ten times worse, haha.

  • I have never used stage size as an excuse, so I don't know where you're getting that from. If you mean that I have said that our stage is unusually built (long and shallow) and that we had to adapt the set to these conditions, then I will not deny this. But, that was hardly an excuse. I think the set worked well for the production, personally. I usually take criticisms without argument, but with explanation. I feel that's fairly better than GTFO my videos, or simply deleting comments, don't you?

  • Also (haha, I know these messages are getting ridiculous, bear with me) but, just out of curiosity, what didn't you like about the casting?

  • I listened to several ensemble voices and I feel some of their voices fit roles better than others. Favoritism doesn't make a good show.

  • Turpin was a freshman who hadn't even auditioned for the fall drama. Lovett was the first lead for the actress playing her, as were Johanna, Beadle Bamford, and the Beggar Woman. They are in grades varying from freshmen to seniors. I don't think there was any favoritism there.

I understand if you think some singers were superior to those of the principals', and I agree with you on some counts, but at the end of the day, it was the best casting we could have achieved acting-wise.

  • no offense...but lovett makes me want to tear my ears off...and her actions don't follow the music at all....gah....

  • We're doing this next year at our high school. I'm so excited! You all did a very nice job, especially for a high school production. Lovett needs to careful with her voice though, she was screaming a bit. Both actors are great though! And i love the set.

  • Thanks!

Good luck with your production, I'm sure you'll be great. :D

  • in the middle of the song the thingy on the table fell but that was no big deal things like that happen in a show and by the way the actors and all of the cast of the show did a behond tromindus job it was verry nive

  • fake pie? that's not good. the lovett is decent. the sweeney is good. the ensemble... ehhh.... sweeney is a tough show to do for a high school.

  • We actually made a bunch of pies for the show, and they were a decent size, but they ended up just getting in the way and you couldn't see them from the audience anyway. There was a good deal of complaining.

    Thanks for the comment. :D

  • I suggested to our drama director that he put this on. He said he'd like to but sadly the prop demand is massive and I don't go to an art focused type of school. Right now we're working on Anything Goes, which requires almost sadly little to put on.

  • Yeah, it is definitely a difficult show to put on in that respect. Almost all the props can be presented through pantomime, except for the chair, which is like impossible to make, haha.

Don't worry, I'm sure Anything Goes will be great, it's a fun show to put on. :D

  • honestly she wasnt tht bad..but my school is doing sweeney todd and the person thats playing lovett in ours is much better..i agree its one of (if not the) hardest girls in the script.....she tried...but honestly...the chorus needs to work on harmonizing..it sounds like different voices instead of one..

  • I'll agree on the ensemble thing, they were sometimes trying to outsing each other. I think it was probably because of the size of the group and the pressure to be heard without mics, but yeah, you're correct in that observation.

  • How do you figure? Mrs. Lovett is a character part and is played as such. She has a good voice and in my opinion tackled a difficult part with great results.

I almost never get frustrated by youtube comments but honestly there is so little constructive criticism in your post that I can't help it.

Thank you, we worked very hard on it.

  • jealousy is a sin

  • Thank you! :D

Guhh, it took us FOREVER to figure out how to arrange the set to cover the whole stage. It's really wide, but not deep and... ahhh it's frustrating. D:

  • i would like to comment on the set :]

made by mostly 5 freshman girls, myself included.

hey everyone who was involved in the play ! :]

  • The set is incredible.

    Just sayin'. :D

  • WOW, really? Great job. I just finished our annual show and our set was award winning, but i think you guys win for a long run.good job, the tech and running crews deserve my respect. The actors in this are really bad, but the set and lighting is good, costumes could use a lil work but were fine and the music needed volume, maybe its just the vid. GREAT JOB.

  • amazing cast!! verry talented actors.

only thing, and its just an opinion if anything, mrs.lovett is very loud and over excited, and she is supposed to be a tired, struggling buisness woman, so she really needed to be slightly more quiet, to gt her point across.

    but again, great cast =)

  • I have to agree, she scares me. ._. I think she was singing so loud, she wasn't able to sing the end fully because she was out of breath.

  • I'm surprised by how good they were.

  • Thank you. They worked very hard. :)

  • Wow, this is fantastic! I love the way Mrs. Lovett just collapses at the end of The Worst pies in London. =) I'm part of an ST movie we're making at school, and I've just got the part of Mrs. Lovett. I'm so excited!!

  • sweet! i'm gonna be trying out for Mrs. lovett for my school's production!

  • Awesome! I wish you the best of luck. =)

  • lucky!

  • You must have a pretty wealthy High School for such an amzing set. Although you still couldn;t afford a few food items for pretend pies haha.

  • Haha thank you. :D And we actually made around thirty pies but we never ended up using them, no idea why.

  • i would like to state that the damn knife fell every night. so we gave up on it saturday night.

  • My favorite part of this video by far is Travis trying to catch the butcher knife and then just giving up.

  • i want to thank liz for all her hard work and dedication to putting this on here! it sure beats my dedication to sweeney todd the candy man of sweet street which i gave up on. =/

  • OH HEY GRAHAM WHERE'S MY CANDY MAN CD?

  • i rlly wish my high school would do ST. that would be awesome! unfortunately cuz my town sucks..they wouldnt do it cuz parents would complain about it being "inappropriate for school". ugh....

  • I'm really glad we ended up doing ST last year because our BOE is different this year, and they're a lot stricter. We'd never be able to do Sweeney under the new BOE. :S

  • thats awesome...i rlly want our school to do ST. it would be awesome!

  • we are doing ST this year :]

  • Oooh congrats! It was so much fun, I hope you have a good time with it. :D

  • lucky! my town sucks. they would never do that. if they did...i would audition for mrs lovett (i would audition for ST but im not a male..ugh)

  • LIZZZ. LIZZZZ. LIZZZ. <3 Andrea

  • HIII! :D

You make your debut in the next part, haha.

  • YESSSSSSS.
