  • interesting take, velocity500, but to me it's the brutal yet heartfelt honesty that give it the emotional power...really unique. we're used to hearing a sad, yearning song like this about unrequited love, not about being too weak to leave. yeah the narrator is cowardly and disingenuous and we're hearing his inner thoughts and the story is tragic for both people because he's staying in the relationship. (yeesh, i need the English major 12-step program)

  • @jktherake true....and in the best form of song writing...it can probably taken well both ways.

  • Allen you might like this one.

  • The lyrics to this song are brutal. Seems more cowardly to me then lovely.

  • @pandoratalks ...i think a lot of the lines are meant to be taken 'sarcastically'. as in, he doesn't wish it was over...that he berates himself for loving the other person....but they don't love him.

  • teddy sat next to me at a bar in Philly before he played at the tin angel and i was speechless wish i bought him a beer or shot of whiskey damn he has the best voice

  • got cd separate ways about 3 weeks ago after seeing him on austin city limits- hardly strictly bluegrass festival, and can't stop playing it.

  • Same here..Love it. His voice is amazing! I hope he comes to Atlanta, I would love to see him live.

  • he came to the SF Golden Gate Park Music Festival and sang this. He makes me wish I like men, that's how lovely he is.
