I've erased my ganglion cyst by wrapping the wrist to put pressure on the cyst with vet wrap (for horses--inexpensive self stick bandages in a variety of colors for fashionistas) and a couple cotton balls underneath where the cyst is. Takes a few days but does the trick. But then in comes back in a couple of months . . . I'm a little chicken about the wrist smashing thing. Will probably get it removed one of these days surgically.

i just removed mines...i went to doctor and he pushed it with to finger and its gone...but he told me if it comes back u have to operate it to never come back again...so this book method is right for the first time
@diegoedv hmmmm i wouldnt recommend using the bible to smash any of those lumps , go to a doctor he will examine it , if its a ganglion cyst he will likely give local anaesthesia and aspirate anyfluid in the lump , However the ganglion cysts usually require multiple aspirations so prepare to see him more than once per year . 3rd year med student

I think I will go to the doctors and get surgery. Doctors recommended surgery only. I also wrapped it with an ace bandage. I bet the cold bag of peas helped too. Time will tell if it will return. So far no bump!
I have mine on the left wrist, 3-4 times a year it's hurting like hell although it's small, pea size. I use a wrist splint when I go to bed and an tight bandana in daytime and this helps a lot.
that was probably not the best idea; getting that crap to pop under your skin could really lead to bad problems... not saying thats what happened, but it very well could have. Not the best way to go about it.

as I recently hit my wrist against a desk and it cleared up my ganglion with out me feeling anything, but hitting your wrist with a heavy object is still a bad idea.

@ILYDrakeful , No, it didn't hurt when it was drained, because the doctor sprays it with a freezing chemical that numbs it before he inserts a needle to drain it. Actually, mine hasn't come back since I faithfully wear a wrist brace at night when I am sleeping in order to keep the wrist straight. However, it does act just like Veronika's scaring me that it is going to come back at times. But, so far, it hasn't. I believe all the credit now belongs to sleeping with the wrist brace at night.

I think I'm going to do this today. What bothers me is actually having someone else do it I like control but all my attempts to break it myself have failed. I was smashing it into my punching bag and I tried hitting it with a book myself but I know that I'm probably subconsciously holding back.
You need to just go for it, veronikas still hasnt returned, sometimes it seems to fill up a little.. but then just goes down with no pain. We think the harder you bash it.. the more broken up it gets, therefore the less likely it is for it to fill up etc. Good luck!
Well one day I was reading my book in bed and I looked at my wrist and saw it again. Pissed that I kept forgetting to ask my friends I, without thinking, bent my hand down and slammed the cyst into the wall behind my head.
I just burst one in my wrist. Rather than hitting it with the book I held the book against the bump. Then my friend hit the book. It worked great and there was little to no discomfort at all. I am glad I did it.

I was going to reply: We did it based on all the videos and info we found online and the fact that the bible bash method is so popular the cyst took its name from ot. So far the bump has not returned at all. Veronika had previously had it drained several times only to find that it would return. We read that smashing really deos a good job at breaking up the wall of the cyst therefore the bump is less likely to return.
I just tried it, but I guess my dad didn't hit it hard enough.

hey i was planning on just having the the drained by myself but heard it more likely to come back.
my question is whether the pain is unbearable after? because i work @ a very physical job so is the hand unusable because of the pain after or is its quick?

Nah Veronika was fine half an hour later, just slight discomfort but nothing major. Obviously that was just her and I guess its always a risk.. but she was fine! Good luck! Stef.

I was going to reply: We did it based on all the videos and info we found online and the fact that the bible bash method is so popular the cyst took its name from ot. So far the bump has not returned at all. Veronika had previously had it drained several times only to find that it would return. We read that smashing really deos a good job at breaking up the wall of the cyst therefore the bump is less likely to return.

not only is it gonna come back but you could break a bone doing that...i would suggest draining it or something less painful!!!!
i have a ganglion cyst in the same place and that looks like it would really hurt!!! veronika is a trooper :)
