MTH sells two upgrade kits (one for steam, one for diesel) that you can either install yourself (if you're good at working with electronics) or have installed by a technician. They've been available for a few years now. Almost all of my older PS1 locomotives have been converted to PS2.

Search the Kato catalog, they have the GG1.

Pennsy had several different paint schemes for them. It might have been Amtrak or Penn Central as well.
