  • ive never heard the word ya'll more times in my life lol

  • yeah Bruno isn't racist his family are immigrants as well so thats why he has that perspective

  • "Until you open your eyes and ears to other people's experiences, you can never make a difference." ~Rose.

Well said, Rose, well said. :)

  • I Love Rose!!

  • Thank you for posting this! (: Learnt a lot on how I should think.

  • good series.

  • I appreciate you for uploading this whole series, fam.

  • The used to be gangster had the best ending speech out of everyone at the party.

  • Newsflash, Bruno: anyone who ever says the words "I don't BELIEVE I'm a racist" most likely is...

  • Only one person left without learning anything. "Came in the same way I'm walking out." thats sad...

  • AS LONG AS WHITE SUPREMACY,CONTROL OVER ALL OTHER CULTURES OF THE WORLD EXSIST THE FIGHT WILL NEVER END..THEY HAVE TO LET THE GRIP GO AND RELEASE EVERYTHING THEY HAVE STOLEN..DONT MAKE OTHER CULTURES CONFORM BECAUSE EUROS STILL WANT TO HOLD ON..MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR RELEASING WHAT THEY HAVE..THEN THE RESTARTING CAN TAKE PLACE.

  • Thanks for posting this very interesting and important series that I think all families should watch just to be more aware of what's going on in this world. I don't know why but I suddenly remembered about this show and decided to look it up and watch. I'm glad I did but probably cuz I'm always bored lol.

  • It looks great on TV but everybody knows that these rainbow societies doesent work in real life. Whenever there is diversity in present theres always gonna be problems. Look at the conflict zones off the world. Both now, and the ones from the history. These conflicts all exist because of diversity!!!Whether its racial, religious, national, ethnic etc. You wouldnt have none of these problems in homogeneous society.

  • Thanks a lot for posting this! I watched it all today and it was great seeing how everyone changed. Best part of all is that I can say that watching this has helped me understand racism a little better.

    Quote Family Guy here:

"This is life. So go and have a ball. Because the world don't move to the beat of just one drum. What might be right for you may not be right for some. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have..." Black and White.

  • wait so did Rose and her poet crush hook up or what? how did he get to be apart of the Spark family if it werent for being more intimate with her? lol that woulda been cute to see...

  • Bruno is blind.

  • I learned that we should look at different peoples side of life and what they go through.

  • I think this a by far THE BEST reality show that has been shown on televison, all that other shit is fake, superficial, imprudent, and mindless. It doesn't get any REAL than this.

  • All this was great, informative, poignant and everything. But as long as there are different ethnicities, religious beliefs, and social beliefs in this country, racism WILLNEVER cease. Unless people get together and realize how serious and prevalent it is today!

  • This was kind of a good project.Although some of them said they didn't learn anything.I personally learned something.

  • @princess1012296

glad to hear princess.. me too.. thas exactly y i posted it ;)

  • They need to make more of this. I would love to see an episode of the whites being black going through a black neighborhood, it would be only TOO funny. But they wouldn't even allow that I'm sure, since there would be such a good chance of everyone being shot.

  • An intriguing show and I would like to the producers try this again. Perhaps with two other elasticities.

I did not agree with Brian, I believe that he was very close minded especially with his tobacco argument

Plus he only went in his white make up a few times unlike the white family, he could have put more in this project with what it means to be white

before anyone tries to start a flame war, I am the direct descendant of slaves and slave owners and I think was right more often than not.

  • ROSE IN PREGNANT, WE ARE HAVING A BABY

  • through the whole show, nobody made an intelligent comment or speech only one was the ex gangbanger kenny...

  • appreciate this futile attempt to end racism, stay tuned for more pointless fights and outcries against it

  • Thanks for posting! I watched the whole thing *all 6 episodes* in one sitting.

  • bruno's on facebook

  • @theonlydsgb IS ROSE?

  • Rose was the only person on here that I thought was real and actually open to the experiment. Bruno was quick to point out the tension he felt in the park but was completely oblivious of it at the bar.

  • Yall had ta Hug it was TV

  • just because they have differnt last names doesn't mean they are actors.

rose probably has her fathers last name. carmen obviously isnt with rose's father so she has her own last name, and bruno is carmens boyfriend, so he has his own last name.duh

  • @blobings123 They're all actors. Thats why Bruno and Carmen overdid it with the "lovin" when they first saw each other in the black make-up. Thats why Brian referred to his "wife" as Rene when he was talking to his "son" while they were in their car going to the mall (i think). Thats why Rose referred to her dad as "Bruno" during the "letter-reading" session.

  • The black family was real but,the white family were actors.bruno is supposed to be Carmen boyfriend.they may be dating but,not married and they are all actors.what a jip

  • Bruno only wants to see things from HIS perspective. It's impossible to identify with any other culture/race when you don't first remove yourself from your own culture and observe from an objective point of view.

  • Bruno u shit head.

  • where the mexican?

  • Comment removed

  • i dont think bruno is racist he is ignorant because in 1 episode he went to a club? wit brian as a black man and he didnt even feel that he was looked at differently by the whites there but when he went to an black neighborhood in black make up with his white wife he got looked at hostile by the blacks and that he did feel.. he got agitated, so eventhough he's in black make up.. he will see everything from his white perspective.. and he doesnt want to admit or see that.. so therefore IGNORANT!

  • Racism will never die. Even if there was just one race people will find a way to divide people on some type or kind of difference

  • I think they should make a show where jews in israel dress up as palestinians, and palestinians dress up as jews. Then lets see how both groups get treated by the israeli military. Now that would be ground-breaking.

  • @clash715 good point, however, most of america probably wouldn't even blink..

  • so the white family are actually actors....mmh.

  • No they're not. This is a real show.

  • no that's right, I just looked up bruno, they are not a real family. Bruno is an actor, he's been v.i.p.

  • can you send me a link about how bruno was a actor?so was rose a actor too?

  • @meths696 come to think of it rose looks nothing like her parents. and they all act a bit strange o.o

  • yeh i made a backgroung check on imdb they are not related ,they are just actors but pple dont believe this , oh well as long as i know the truth

  • really?who were actors?

  • the whole `white `family are actors

    ROSE BLOOMFIELD

    BRUNO MARCOTULLI

    CARMEN WURGEL

  • Why did they get actors for the white family??

    I don't get it.

  • @meths696 Well from what I read on the white family Bruno and Carmen were boyfriend and girlfriend, and Rose was Carmen's real daughter who shared her biological father's last name. I'm going to believe that this is in fact true.

  • WTF. its ironic a show bout racism and understanding and they couldnt use a real white family. dam, now thats ignorant

  • Rose looks like her mom...

  • where are the asians?? :D

  • Most of them are in Asia.

  • I like rose better as a black indian looking chick. She doesn't look as good in a white suit.

  • But I'm sure you'd still shag the white version though, right?

  • I think they were forced to say nice things about each other at the end. In their minds they were probably thinking "good riddance."

  • It would have been interesting if the black-as-white family had been sent to a black district. "What chu look'n at, white boy?"

  • I hope Rose becomes a politician or something

    shes amazing

  • realrock.. after reading ur posts, i am very curious what u define as racism? is there a difference between a black and white racist?

  • Brian was f'ed up, because he took the project as a personal battle between him and Bruno. He WANTED instances of racism to occur, so that he could tell Bruno "I told you so." That's why he was pissed off on numerous occasions when his aspirations did not materialize.

  • Damn the son nick is effin sexy and so his dad...lOl..black is beautiful.

  • rose is probly my favorite character.

  • Thanks for posting fortruth

  • u r welcome!

  • i wish rose told devon that she liked him :) great series..did they make another one?

  • wow that comment is kinda just wow lol

  • Group hug everybody! The answer to world peace.

  • lol at radio commercial at end lol

  • but this was a pretty bad series. I really felt like stereotypes were perpetuated rather than destroyed.

  • Brunos not racist, hes just a bit dumb.

  • That's how I've been feeling. I don't think he's racist, I just think he's a very ignorant person.

  • Yea I agree. It's such a cop-out to just call him racist and that's it.. It's lazy. He just needs more time for reflection.. Like the therapist said it takes longer for some people, and he seems intelligent enough to absorb some good lessons from his experiences in the show.

  • Kenny speech was very uplifting

  • It seems like most everyone in this documentary (except, of course, Bruno, who just doesn't count) grew up a least a little. Somehow I feel like the show could have been done much better, but I'm still glad I watched it. My favorite character was probably Brian, oddly enough.

  • I was wondering how somebody as ignorant and devoid of any redeeming qualities as Bruno could produce someone so amazingly beautiful, intelligent and sweet as Rose.

Now that I find out that Bruno isn't her real father, I'm not at all surprised. I really disliked Bruno with a passion. His views and words just got more outlandish with every time he appeared and his "mid life rap" thing...well, I just didn't know whether to burst out laughing or cry.

  • ROSE IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!

  • Does anyone know where the cast is now?

  • geez bruno completely missed the ball on this whole experience...

  • what did he not get?

  • This was a profound and exquisite documentary.

  • thanks very much for this experience, peace

  • Lol Listen to nick at 6:38

    "She's got my number"

  • what's normal, you do know that American English is all together incorrect English

Also, slaves where forced/grouped together that didn't speak the same language, and had to teach themselves english

it was ilegal and they could have been killed

  • and who did they copy their english from?

White Southerners, who by the way, speak exactly like black southerns, or ebonics

    it's a dialect,

where did white people learn their "normal" speech from, where did they learn incorrect English from?

  • Language is an evolving and changing thing. Words take on meaning through use, and the vernacular we use today isn't identical to that which was spoken a hundred years ago. People who were alive then would think you speak strangely now.

The difference in language is just an expression of culture. In the same way that different English speaking countries use different dialects, so do the cultures within those countries. It's just natural to be influenced by your environment, simple.

  • Racism is not going to end, it is going to get worse in some places and be almost completely hidden in others, as there is more competition for less and less resources, and shit gets harder and harder, and whites become more and more of a minority, and pushed further north we will see racism like nothing we have ever seen before. Sorry, the way things seem to be going we are all fucked, and races will be more and more at each other's throats. No more hippie hand holding.

  • All the races (3:00) were not involved, not by a long shot, in fact black people and white people put togther are still less than half the population of the world...

  • good entertainment

  • Basically, after watching this entire series, it all boils down to this: we are all the same--we are all human. Sure there are differences, but we are still all human.

  • Race means more than people would like to think.

  • Being biracial (black/white--honestly, i hate defining myself by race), i always felt slightly out of place when i was around black and whites. I pass for white physically, but being raised by blacks, I tend to dwell more into the black american culture. I have struggled with identity, and finally came to the realization that trying to determine whether i was black, white, or biracial was ridiculous. I am me, and that is all i could ever be.

  • nice, I feel the same.

  • Ok, I think I saw the video you wanted me to see? What was I supposed to learn from it that I don't already know? I know those are stereotypes...what else did you want me to get from it? Now you can watch things like 'white chicks' and the dave chappell show. :) And you tell me why, after all those years of black sterotypes in media why its ok to resurrect it in its opposite form. It's all jokes when black people do it, but its not a joke when white peope do it? OOOOK THEN! lol.

  • which vid did u watch? it sounds like bamboozled.. just a sample of how black ridicule has produced variations of insult.. would u kick a fallen wheelchair bound person? y? black insults r similar cuz blacks "start off" with a disadvantage they did not cause. look up black in the dictionary then white.. what color is angelfood cake and devilsfood cake? this is the social and historical context u have to place jokes and meaning to the slurs we use.

  • its ok to resurrect these concepts if there is still learning to be done from them.. do u think we have understood all there is to c?

no.. i like the fact obama points out we cannot excuse the responsibility of blacks to pull themselves up.. but whites have learning to do 2 as we r all but children on journeys to understand what we do..

try checking out the longer tim wise vid.. i think u will c differently

  • notice too that jokes r great at masking pain.. hmmmm.. how could that apply?

chappell, pryor.. in what context r they laughing?

y is the recent nyorker cartoon non-working satire? cuz showing it to someone who agrees with the mocking doesnt explain it false.. showing the blacks in black face or pics of ape exaggerations dont negate the years of context.. WE MUST LEARN of the damage done and falseness of it all..

y.. so that we can become a race of HUMANS.. different but all special

  • scuse me.. but weve got some mountains to move..

    ; )

  • Im not going to see anythnig differently, me learning more isnt going to change the people that dont know ANYTHING. We should try teaching people that dont know ANYTHING. I honestly dont know what you're getting at, if you think me watching more is going to change my opinion to yours then you're mistaken. I'll continue to treat people as they want to be treated without attaching racial context to it. I think I know enough already. I cant stop being white, thats the real problem black people have

  • as long as I am white, no black person will ever wholeheartedly agree with me on anything that has to do with race. So I digress. I feel like a white child being taught by a black parent whenever I discuss race with anybody black. I feel as if every time I make a mistake or say what I think is true, my little white hand gets slapped by my black teacher/parent. Oh how the tables have turned! I guess the generations that have had nothing to do with it have to suffer just as the blacks of the past.

  • And now I'll explain to you why we black people slap your fingers.

For example this comment you made, we in our mentality find provoking. You know why? Its not white people who are the big victims of racism in the world. And what you are trying to do is victimize yourself. As if you were dissadvantaged cuzz youre white.

Think we will give you pitty if you feel slightly dissadvantaged cuzz youre white, with all the SHIT WE GO THROUGH DAILY FOR 400 YEARS BECAUSE OF OUR SKINCOLOR?

  • Trust me, I don't have to try...hating on whites is the new hating on blacks where i'm from. lol. Everyone has preconceptions about whites too...it's not cool. And it's not something white people just think or do. You swear like white people are never discriminated against and are exempt. You're wrong if you think otherwise. I'm mostly white, and i'm a minority in my city, ok, so don't tell me whites are "slightly disadvantaged" because it's not true, it's COMPLETE BS!!! KNOW THAT!!!!!!!!

  • Ok, i'm sorry that you feel that way about the meaning of the words black and white but historically speaking, most people in history have associated dark with evil and light with good. It's nothing racial, it was like that way before white people even crossed paths with blacks on a usual basis. It only became racial when blacks were thrown into that catagory with everything else during slavery. People aren't black and white really, thats why they they shouldnt take those definitions to heart.

  • Anywho, I'm sorry if I irritated anyone here leaving comments, but I wouldn't be here if I didn't care to actually learn from the series, whether it's fake, real, whatever...I picked up a few things that I myself could change. These things are things I normally overlook and just think are normal. But I can work on them now. :)

  • and thas what its all about m.. we r all here i hope to do as u.. thank u for sharing!

it takes jus a lil by all of us and we can influence GREAT change on this planet..

we humans r at a great fork in the road.. we can go worse or better but ultimately it is each of our individual choice.. when we choose like u to benefit from mistakes, we get closer to that better place!

  • Everyone that watches this, you have to remember that the white family is made up of actors. This whole show was about teaching white people a lesson, it was not a two way discovery. Which is unfortunate, because many people are taking this show seriously. It's all edited to make you feel the way you do. That's my problem with it and I'm not going to change my mind. It would have been different if both the families were real and one wasn't paid to act a certain way, real like wife swap. ^_^

  • I also hope all wiggers out there who actually think they can be black watch this. So they understand why I get pissed at them and think its dissrespectful of them to think they know what black is.

Its nothing you can become, its something you are born or not...

  • wiggers? lol. So wigger is ok and nigger isn't? THAT is the kind of things I mean!! The whole double standard thing....You can't go and call someone a wigger if you dont expect being called a nigger. It's the same about the bitch thing with the two moms in this show. No one, in their right minds would think ANY of that is acceptable. ANd these "wiggers" you speak of arn't trying to be black, they're trying to fit in with hip-hop culture. lol.

  • Now, Mister. This is what I mean.

Comparing Wigger to the word Nigger, just as if they are the same things... This alone is dissrespectful to the N word and its history...

They are trying to act like some sort of hiphop-stereotype which they call hiphop but in reality they are imitating "black" behaviour.

Hiphop is music, nothing more. Anyone can do the music, it doesnt belong to noone. It just happens to be dominated by blacks, and therefore also black culture...

  • So you think it should be labeled as "black behavior"? I think that would be a disservice to the black community, but whatever...

  • I believe what they meant was stereotypical black behavior when quoting the word "black."

  • IT IS THE SAME FUCKING THING!!!!! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT MODERN FUCKING DAY!!! NOT SOME SHIT IN THE PAST!!! I wasn't alive during slavery, how about you? How do you think I fucking feel that it might be possible that my family might have had slaves or whatever, huh??? NOT FUCKING GREAT, I can tell you that much...You think I like my history? Do you think my history is better? I'm certainly not proud, but I am proud that we can all live side by side now. How about you? The n or w words, irrelevant.

  • I dont think I'll ever reach out to you, since obviously you are not mature enough. What I can say thou is, try saying the N word to me on the streets, and we will see how much "same" it is. You see? You live in your wonder-world here in internet were you paint the picture of the N word and Wigger being the same, but out there its not. Its far from...

Oh and one thing. We black people dont give a mother-FUCK about your guilt. It was we who were oppressed and are so today, not you.

  • Not all blacks are so closed minded, just as all whites aren't so closed minded either. Both blacks and whites will never be able to truly understand one another when it comes to race, especially older generations (they grew up in literally two different worlds and are more set in their ways). The newer generation has an advantage of growing up together with other cultures, making it a little easier for us to get along. Things will smooth out eventually...

  • g mian.. i so hear ur frustration.. can i ask u to turn the table a bit and chek ur posts? if someone else wrote this, what would u think.. would u say they were open to ideas? would u want to share more or defend? when u say ur not going to see anything differently, isnt that what bruno is accused of doing? is that in line with ur really trying to learn something?

  • imho - there is only the black state of mind for those that only see that.. for others, there is only the white.. for tru understanding we have to reach over our own limitations without judging..

u say blacks dont accept whites.. disagreement is not not shutting down.. thinking different is not a chastisement or critisizm.. it is just thinking differently.. what vid did u see? u might like the longer tim wise vid. maybe not to teach u, but to hear another way to see..

  • this show was more about teaching whites what being black is like. It was disappointing in a way that the black family thinks they know how whites live and they rarely ever addressed those kinds of things. Most of the show was centered around putting whites in "their place". This show, I don't know what to think about it. If the white family were able to share more with the black family about how life is for them , they probably would have gotten more from the black family and the experience.

  • I disagree. I think that the Black man that took the bartending job dove right into his "fly-on-the-wall" role. It took his wife a bit to find a White person that she could relate to in spite the race issue. She was dealing with much older White women initially.

Bruno was close-minded and it was just a costume to him. I agree that Rose & Carmen were more openly affected by the experience. THEY GOT IT. Nick, finally, participated, but he was called "Nigger" when he came out. Remember?

  • Imnediately they said they knew what it was to be white because they have to put on a show for employers and what not. Wow...I guess no body heard that. If it's so impossible for white people to know what it's like to be black then I guess that makes it just as impossible for black people to know what its like to be white, THEY JUST THOUGHT THEY KNEW! THey were just acting like a sterotypical white family in their clown makeup, they werent really opening themselves up enough.

  • immediately* ^_^

  • No, you're NOT getting it at all.

Look at the movie, Gattaga;it's easier for those who are observing the habits of others to be more realistic in how they assimilate than it is for the majority of people.I'm a woman, I can assume male characteristic in business(as I often do to be successful)MUCH EASIER than they can assume female characteristics.Possible BECAUSE women often are in positions of being overlooked/ over-qualified, unappreciated and under paid- minorities. We OBSERVE how men succeed

  • I mean, they just assumed, they didn't really read into emotions. I know Rose and Carmen actually got some of the emotions behind being black ( a little)...the black family had little to no clue, they just thought white peoples heads are up in the clouds. Does anyone ever consider what it does to white people when a lot of people automatically assume they're racist? It hurts just as much as "Nigger". They never really thought about how the white family felt :)

  • Read these boards, mianersiyok... many White people could care less about being called racist.

I do believe that the Black mother got way more frustrated from not breaking it down with Carmen abt. WHY she was not feelin' her calling her B. However, Bruno didn't open up to Carmen's Black girlfriend that took her around the neighborhood. No way can you defend Bruno. He was racist. He had his own agenda that he stuck to REGARDLESS the make up.

    That's what's really up.

  • I read the comments all the time, some care, and some dont. We're not talking about CALLING someone racist, we're talking about ASSUMING people are racist, calling someone racist is a lot different than automatically assuming in their minds that someone is. I really was not even talking about bruno, so I don't see how I was defending him. I'm more interested in defending white people that ARENT bruno that are genuinely caring people that arent opened up to because they're white. Thats all. ^_^

  • And everyone on the show had they're own agendas...^_^ Brian and Renee wanted to see how they'd be treated as white people. And Bruno and Carman wanted to see how it was to be treated as black. The only difference was, Brian and Renee had premature expectations, and Bruna and Carman really didn't have as many expectations, they thought they would be treated the same. The sparks couple definitly werent any better than than the white actor family.

  • Brian spoke like a White man in his job and GOT a JOB (quickly with no background checks & B.S. that the "Black" women got: recall that?) Renee met and RESPECTED Deborah, her White friend, who she felt she should have been more upfront with from the gate. You are wrong- BRUNO WALKED IN WITH HIS OWN MIND & DIDN'T GIVE A DAMN about INSULTING the MUSICIAN/TEACHER, Carmen's friend girl (the Black lady) anyone trying to befriend them.

WHY DO YOU THINK the musician was upset at Bruno?

  • I don't know, what are you trying to convince me to believe? I'm not understanding your motive. I wasn't even talking about any of that. ANd like I said, there were actors in the white family. ^_^

  • NO WAY can you actually equate Carmen in her growth and to Bruno's retarded non-growth?

LOOK, Even CARMEN got frustrated with him SEVERAL times and so did ROSE.

    Did you NOT SEE THAT???

Did you NOT see how Rose broke Bruno off in the kitchen about being blackballed on the team? How would he have felt if he had to LIVE in THAT forever? Never being considered??? One cannot dispute Bruno's inability to grow when his own WIFE and DAUGHTER were embarrassed and disgusted by it.

    Explain that.

  • yes, I saw, but it means nothing to me. It was a tv program, not real life. I'm not disputing his inability to grow. Only you are on that topic, I wasn't including myself in regards to that aspect of the show. lol. I offered how I think they are equal and they ALL didn't do as well as they could. But go on, keep trying to explain it to me like I need to be taught. I DID watch the whole series you know, I saw EVERYTHING! lol. And guess what, no one is going to change my opinion! YAY! ^_^

  • what makes them equal is if you weigh (by "family") each good and bad thing they got out of the experience as whole families, they were pretty much equal. If you don't understand that then I apologize, but I'm not going to apologize for thinking that. ^_^

  • Who is assuming what? I live in mixed company of people from all over the world. I'm not a insular person with only friends that I grew up with. Sure some Whites care some don't. Some Black care some don't. Some Hispanics care some don't. Some Asians care some don't.

I said MANY Whites don't care about being called racists, sweetheart. I spoke about Bruno specifically as being racist. I think Carmen & Rose give me hope. Hell, I have international friends that give me hope & love. WTH? Do You?

  • Yes, I have many international friends, mostly in east asia (a lot in asia), western europe (a lot in europe too), oceania, south africa, and south america though. A few from the middle east. Why? does it matter? lol. They give you hope... omg, dont make me laugh, hope for what? And, for the second time, I am not saying bruno is a racist or not nor talking about him, wouldnt know if he was, I'm not black so I can't see it, right!? LOL. And just so you know, bruno is an actor. ^_^

  • Okay, child. Let me break it down to you THIS way, then I have to go.

You didn't mention any friends from the Caribbeans nor Africa so YOU are OBVIOUSLY lacking in exposure to Black people. This is your reason for sounding foolish. Whereas I have friends from tout le monde! ALL OVER THE PLANET.

I SAY Bruno is a racist. That's what he's shown to MANY people here, White, Asian, Black, Hispanic, Mixed RACE...whatever.

You must be an actor too. I'm the director & producer & you're fired.

  • You're so crazy! ^_^ There are black people everywhere, not just in Africa And the Caribb. I have some black friends. How many do I need to "expose" myself to to meet your appoval? lol! It's obvious that you're black, so you probably have more black friends, which is ok, it's probably easier for you to make black friends. I don't know why you have to be mean about it. :) I'm not concerned what Bruno is or isn't, it was a tv show, therefor not real or important. I never took the job. ^_^

  • LOL! Yeah, you are not as crazy, huh?

First, I NEVER said that the only Black ppl in the world are IN AFRICA or the Caribbeans(YOU IMPLIED THAT B.S.)

Secondly, get about 20 more years of experience in life, move to a diverse city and deal with adults instead of 20 year olds like yourself to talk to me little girl. You're talking to a grown woman and it's all bullshit what you're saying at this point.

Ergo, I refuse to comment on your silliness AFTER my next response. Past your bedtime now.

  • I'm sorry you're so old, oops, I mean bitter and experienced. I live in L.A. and I'm not a "little girl". lol, I don't know where you got that from. I'm a 20 y/o guy in L.A., sorry to dissapoint. I'm thinking you thought I was a girl because my sn begins with "mia", well...mianersiyok is one word. It's "eskimo" and it basically means "to watch" as in "watches" videos on youtube...It also means guard, but whatever. Sorry everything is "bs", you must like reading bs. lol.

  • Bruno is a POOR actor. He said he taught ELEMENTARY ScHOOL- I'm not sure where you got your "Actor" info. However, he couldn't even speak the way that was TAUGHT in the VOICE class. The Black father did pretty easily, I'd say. Bruno had NO IDEA of how to portray a Black man. I'm IN the ARTS in NYC. ACTORS and PERFORMERS HAVE MORE EXPOSURE to OTHER RACES and CULTURES than was portrayed. Perhaps you're just talking out your ass to get a reaction, you child. ROFL!

  • Ok, fine, whatever you said, is what I think If it makes you happy...lol. Bruno was a white supremacist devil, and Brian had a huge halo and gave off nothing but good vibes the whole time!! There! Ok, glad we got that settled. :)

  • See what I mean.

    You're talking utter bullshit! ROFL!

I stated this in a previous post:

This is just part of the problem; Black kids seeing success as Bling. Rose didn't see success as Bling. She sees success as becoming true and real and whole- NEVER abt. money with her. Cute or NOT

So WTF are YOU talkin' about!??!

Sorry, about the curses, I've been hanging around the Italian brothers too long in Carnarsie! So sue me...

  • I'm glad they developed more of an understanding with black culture, and can empathise with us. I'm also pleased that they understood that even with make up on, they will never truly know what it's like to be black because they never were or will be black! Rose and Carme's conversation about 'you can't act black, you just are, it's real' was deep! Shows that they got the purpose of the show!

    Peace

  • Maybe what made them feel sad about being treated badly by whites (while they were made up to be black) was that they maybe recognised that behaviour in themselves i.e. maybe they sub-consciously treated black people the way white people treated them in the experiment?

  • It was deep how the white group with Nick couldn't comfortably discuss the same topic as before, just because they could now see his true skin colour! I expected the white family to get more out of it because some white people are oblivious to their privilege because it seems like the norm to be treated better; and I knew the family's experience of being in black skin would shock them about how quickly they would notice prejudice and be treated unfairly!

  • I agree with you on this. White people cannot see the priveledges afforded by their race. I have PLENTY of White friends who move quickly up the corporate ladder, but are H.S. graduates compared to Black people who have Bachelor's degrees. They see no problem with this disparity because it benefits them. I did not see Bruno apply for a job while he was at the house. He didn't deal with working so how could he have felt that kind of racism?

  • Rose's psychological analysis of black culture was very deep and accurate! I.e. black kinship! She's quoted what black psychologists such as Dr Joy Leary have said about kinship being significant in black culture, because its foundation is built upon African principles and practices, where 'the family' is very important. It also shows what it feels like to be ignored and avoided in social situations because of the colour of your skin.

  • It was very interesting to see how excited the white family were of becoming black, and how badly they took hostility while being black! Our reality has surely made us stronger because if everybody cried after being treated unfairly like Rose and Carmen, black people would be crying everyday!

  • Great show (staged or not)! I think that most of them got something out of it, especially Rose. Unfortunately, it was only at the end when Nick barely started to get it, but it's a start I guess! He made me feel sick when he let the white guys get away with racism!!! Bruno was just annoying, racist and ignorant!

  • I don't know what you mean about "get away with" but he could have politely told the other kids he wasn't comfortable with them saying that, you could see it in his eyes...There was no need for him to get angry about it because he is a nice guy and he understands why they think they can say it but he needed to teach them that not everyone will understand or will even want to understand so it's best not to say it at all.

  • Nick was not a "nice guy" he was a sheep before he was told that "it's not good to let White kids who call themselves your friends say "Nigger" around you."

You actually consider someone who allows this "Nice"? "Cool"?

I guess by that same rationale his parents were 'EVIL' and "Wicked" in how they approached the kids at dinner about using the word, huh? YOU cannot tell a Black person how to respond to that word just as a Man cannot tell a woman how to respond to "Cunt!" or "Bitch"!

  • I think you're misinterpreting what I wrote, but it's ok. You can read into it however you like, no one is stoppping you. I also think you overlooked some of which I wrote. I think people over react, that's what I think. It might be painful or angering to hear "Nigger" but thats life, I don't get angry when people call me cracker or peckerwood or the like, I just laugh it off because I know those are the types of people perpetuating racism. :)

  • Yes, but racial slurs are not painful for you being the White/Native American you are. Plus, you may not know how to interpret things that are said-- that's cool, you're young and see things the way you see them too. You being a White/Native American person don't have the same UGLY history that you have to live down EVERY day of your life. Cracker and peckerwood have NEVER oppressed White people nor men AS Bitch, Kike, Nigger, Slope etc. HAVE BEEN USED TO OPPRESS women, Jewish, Black and Asians.

  • And where did you arrive at that conclusion? Am I souless? do I not deserve the same respect that black people deserve? Racial slurs are just as painful to everyone, People may be laughing it off on the outside but it really gets to them on the inside. Thats just how I was raised. Maybe thats the difference between a lot of whites and blacks. Many whites are taught not to show they've been had, it's not considered saving face. Where as many black families teach to confront people about this.

  • mian.. slurs racially motivated r not the same.. blacks r a broken ppl whites r not.. me saying a white cant jump or dance is different than saying blacks r monkeys.. how trivial is jumping compared to behavior and intellect? y does black creature sound worse than creature alone? black, coon, honkey, cracker.. r they really the same?

more perspective is needed.. check out my bamboozled vid or "tim wise" does a vid describing what is labeled white privilege for perspective

  • ok, Im not going to say you're wrong or anything, but maybe a little oblivious? Whites arent exacty an unbroken people either. I'm so tired of other races putting white people on a pedestal saying they're privlaged and stuff when those people of other ethnicities could just as easily do that for their ownand bring themselves up. Not to do that would be kind of dumb and an excuse to stay underprivlaged and ignorant. I dont know if that makes sense to anyone?

  • I totally understand how "beautiful black creature" could sound horrible to any black person...I won't deny that. But from a white point of view, it's not a big deal, white women use that all the time just not with "black" in front, she CHOULD have just said "beautiful creature", that would have been more acceptable, I couldnt imagine anyone white saying "beautiful WHITE creature" lol.

I do think all of those slurs hold different meaning, but they are ALL WRONG to say. :) They're all unpleasant

  • could* haha. I was thinking of should...lol.

  • lol, it's funny that you use jumping as an example...but alright. There are some others but you picked something as simple as whites not being able to jump as a stereotype compared to lower intelligence as a stereotype of blacks thought by many whites. That's a little unbalanced. You could have used another common misconception thought by blacks, like whites not being able to sing or dance, that's insulting creativity and that is part of intelligence and soul, what do you think about that? :)

  • good stuff here m.. remember we r not trying to examine any persons too closely cuz the general social thing we r pointing out doesnt hold k?

whites (as a whole) r a privileged class cuz they have been in that position (in fact created that position) in society as a whole. blacks (stemming from america and west european socialization) r put down and associated with lesser than. there is an equation here which u cant balance when u say white slurs equal black slurs or black = white.

  • now lets b clear that humans r all special and none r "better" than others.. just different, but in a real way, socialization or the way people grow up experiencing racism/privilege has very real consequences.

lets try this.. what if u apply the label to a baby thusly..

little white monkey.. what do u think of? it is simply not as dramatic as saying

    little black monkey

if u see no difference, u have gone thru socialization without the typical scarring and i would b surprised.. for most,

  • the difference is stark.. night n day..

now i agree u can discuss the insults to tru intelligence n soul.. u r rite on.. but what r the social perceptions? this is what i was talking about with slurs.. words r meaningless unless placed in a context and understood by ones socialization.. power is given to certain words cuz of their widespread use.. PROPAGANDA WORKS

whites typically dont find words as offensive as u said above cuz there is no historical context where they have as much power..

  • But you cant base my opinion as the opinion of all whites. Ok, I was raised to never let any negative word bring me down, not all people are raised like that. I think they should be, racism would be less impacting to people that way. I experience racism as a half white living in a city thats predominately mexican, so I know how it feels. You cant say that racism towards whites and racism towards blacks is not equally as wrong, different contexts yes, but equally as hurtful.

  • I dont care about social perceptions or implications, its ALL wrong to me. I dont care which has stronger meaning, both sides of a racist situation are equally wrong. Most people today, they dont wake up and think to themselves "Oh, I think i'll mistreat a black person today! The other day I did that it was fun.." most White people, just as any other people, do not just do things for no reason, if they're provoked, what you call "racism" will come out depending on the situation of two wrongs.
