  • listen this isn't because white is supposed to look better in india, in most asian countries having white skin means that you come from a wealthy family because you don't get tanned from working outside all day.

  • Rita is hotter than the white chick. FACT!!!

  • @junkheadrev i just wanted to clear up misconceptions brother. i am indian and i am white. india is a white country and we are all white people. please dont you ever say that we are dark and ugly. idk why people try to say indians are black or dark and ugly. they know nothing... indian people are white, just go to india and see how many white people there are

  • @johhnnyrtrtrt did...you read my post?

  • Stupid commercial.

  • Comment removed

  • White skin does not = beauty. What has this world come to?

  • Sometimes I wake up at the morning at thinking "Oh, golly I say, I love being white"

Then I order my black manservant to fetch my elephant gun and go on a safari.

  • How exactly is this racist? It's about as offensive as white women getting a tan. In fact it's better, as these women don't look ugly and orange.

  • People with light skin risk getting cancer to get darker skin, and people with dark skin risk getting cancer trying to get lighter. Ridiculous!

  • Listen, I love all types of people and so should you.

    Except Gingers.

  • i prefer them with dark skin, women look way much better with dark skin

  • That ad is just wrong. I love the dark and mysterious look of Indian girls. They are beautiful.

  • F*cksakes, people; instead of attacking each other, attack the manipulative, mindwashing arseholes who make these ads (and all the other ads that try to make us feel like shite for being natural instead of synthetic). Brown, pink, olive: it's JUST SKIN!!!

By hating on each other you're playing into the corporations' hands. Hate on THEM; they're the ones trying to make you feel like shite!

  • O_o

  • ...Seriously, bitch? Did you SEE the size of that diamond he was offering you before he snapped your nail?

  • You people are stupid to hate on the company, they are just a business that makes profits out of existing demand. Direct your hatred at the people who actually want this crap and the cultural issues that lead to them being so narrow minded

  • Anyone notice that he was just staring at her cleavage at the end?

  • pinkish?? why would anyone want to be pink?? its the colour pigs and scandinavians have (not pretty)

  • @emfri Well if i asked "who would want to be brown, the colour of shit?" how would you feel? Yeah don't be a racist little bitch behind your computer, it isn't "big" of you.

  • @jayc342009 id feel sorta wierd, but yes id rather be brown than pink, i find it really annoying to try and look pretty with this pale pink skin... it looks like crap... and havent u realized that it is the exact reason so many white people get a tan? and i dont get what u mean by "big", sorry.

  • @emfri That's really racist. Your opinion, though. White people can't help getting tans, so your argument is pointless. I'm getting sick or coloured people always spouting their stupid opinions, "white skin is horrible" seriously keep it to yourself. I'm quite pale and i'm offended. I think if someone said to you "your skin is the same colour as shit" i think you would be offended. You don't think white skin is crap, you're obviously jealous because you have to stick with your skin colour.

  • @jayc342009 well if u r quite pale then u r stupid for being offended, u seem to be under the misconception that i am dark skinned, in which u r very wrong, u might be quite pale, i am pinkish-white, i wish i could get a beautiful dark tan, but i cant despite u saying white people cant help getting a tan. i cant even get red, in the summer i keep being white, i just get a bit less pink, i envy people who naturally have dark skin and really wish i did too. white skin can be beautiful but not pink

  • @emfri AAhhh i was mislead. I have white skin not pink, i thought you where being racist. SORRY!! Oh and i'm not racist.

  • @jayc342009 u come off looking very racist

  • @emfri Wow really? Never noticed.

  • @jayc342009 and very sarcastic for someone who should maybe think abt not starting fights with people u know nothing abt

  • @emfri Not alot of white people would say pink people look like pigs. That's why i didn't think you were white.

  • @jayc342009 i havent heard any not white people say it, to be honest

  • white skin in india or pakistan and ur beautiful..I have white skin and im considered beautiful in pakistan ...and if a new baby is born ..first question they ask is if he/she is white or not

  • so racist

  • wait... I don't get this commercial O. O

  • Why is this racist? LOL... the ponds company knows what sale idiots.

  • @xRequiem666 Both girls are Indian. One is light skinned and one is dark skinned. Indians come in different skintones.

  • Having lighter skin in places such as India and in Asian countries is a sign of upper class, since lower classes work outside doing labor jobs thus darkening the skin. This ad is pretty sickning; it is just as sad that it plays on the target cultures already placed standards inorder to sell their product.

  • SO RACIST! Before preaching about racism to other countries, India needs to tackle racism within itself first.

  • @gifteddevil16 except this ad is from a British/Dutch firm, Unilever. They produce Pond's, Dove, Axe, Vaseline, Rexona and many more personal hygiene product. The disgusting thing is they tell women in the west to love the skin they're in but women of the east or south to change. They might not have created the white beauty ideal but they are perpetuating it...

  • This is farking unbelievable. The actress portraying the "darker" girl is Priyanka Chopra, former Miss World(!). She'd still outclass the other chick if she coated herself in crude oil.

So apparently, the message is that not only whiter = prettier, but even the most beautiful women on the planet are still unworthy of attention if they're brown. WTF?

  • @aceg81: Actually, without the makeup on them Neha Dhupia is prettier. But with makeup, yes, Priyanka looks better.

  • @aceg81 they made that message so clear yet look at all the people hear trying to say there is nothing wrong with it and foolishly comparing skin bleaching to tanning. I never saw one ad of a sexy white girl with "Fair" skin getting rejected and returning with a tan to get the man. Too much tanning is a huge turn off in the west yet here they r aiming for a complete transformation and it's some how normal. Talk about Rose Color Glasses

  • @CostlyChris Only white women think they look better tan, white men still prefer fair skin, many studies showed that. Men are subconsciously attracted to fair skin women because of the skin tone's association with innocence, purity, modesty, virginity, vulnerability and goodness. Why do you think so many men love blondes or light eyes? It's the same concept why men love fair skin. Women like darker men, because they are associated with sex, virility, mystery, villainy and danger.

  • @danieljayhh Bullshit dude. So you're telling me that men from regions with very dark people have limited sexual attraction to women from the same towns/cities/villages? What you wrote is deeply-rooted in racist ideologies that have been passed down through several generations and are quite similar to racist sentiment passed down to Indians from the caste system.

  • @KvnDWr what: they prefer fair skin doesen't mean that they find darker skin unattractive. Damn men it's logical. Light is more feminine and dark is more masculine. There is even a study on that, google it. Why do black men prefer light skin black women, but black women prefer dark skin black men? Why are dark haired men prefered over blond men. But on the other hand why do so many men love blonde women.

  • @danieljayhh Ah something else with your racist statement, even in cultures who aren't influenced by white people, even the most isolated culture, the men prefer lighter skin and the women prefer darker skin.

  • It's one thing to want to be a bit lighter, if you want to be lighter, or get a tan if you want a tan.

But seriously, do change your skin tone for a chode, is just insane. The guys a douche, she can do better. I won't date any man that isn't happy with my naturally tan tone.

  • Please define anti-racism.

  • Anti-racism is whining about (and lobbying against) racism.

I said "often" for a reason, because anti-racism is not racist by definition.

Anti-racists are biased against white people most of the time.

People that are offended or something by this commercial, don't let people be in their value. People that have a dark skin tone and want a light skin tone and the company in this case.

  • Define: " WHITE ENTITLEMENT"

  • So what? It remain dumb generalizations.

Being biased against a ethnic group is racism. racial entitlement or not. It's hypocritical. It's disgusting.

  • The problem is that A) there's nothing wrong with people's natural skin colour, and this contributes to the idea that there is, B) it's a complete waste of money that's fed by nothing but insecurity and self-hate, and C) there hasn't been any research on the long-term effects of these products.

It's comparable to white women giving themselves skin cancer by tanning. Hydroquonine, a substance used in many of these creams, is a known carcinogen and is actually banned in many countries.

  • A) That's an opinion, and therefore not yours to decide, only the user. B) Same as A. C) Relevance?

Is white women giving themselves skin cancer by tanning racist? Riiiight...

Positive law does not equal just law. Usually on the contrary. Can I not choose which harmful substances I use?

  • @myusernameisluc: No, you really can't choose which harmful substances to use. That's why hardcore drugs are illegal and potentially harmful/addictive medicines require prescriptions.

  • I know...

the problem is big, around 60% of all Indian women use this kind of facial product and the thing is that this creates a lot of trash, this makes me believe that you should be ashamed because of your skin color, which is sad and stupid at the same time, Indians must learn to accept themselves as they are. And about the commercial, I think the message is pretty clear: "A man won't pay attention on a dark woman and if you want to be attractive, turn white" racist shit...

  • @Erikhaos: LMAO, 60% of Indian women use this? Where did you get that statistic, from your butt lol? 55% of people in India live under the poverty line... I doubt they'd be able to waste their money on beauty products.

  • @VeronikaZee According to studies done, poor people in countries like India still spend money on things like TVs, beauty products, ect. It may sound strange to us, but they don't have money to save so they spend them on things that can improve their lives now. The sad truth is that having lighter skin can increase a woman's chance of a "good" marriage or improve the chances of getting a job... so in that sense it is an investment in the future... that is of course if it actually worked.

  • @Erikhaos believe it or not man...

buying cheap face cream is not like the big deal

it's more like an habit in India

  • I think it would have been better if they had just tried to market this to Goths & people who have Rosacia.

  • The text message shouldn't said "Rita, now that your not so goddamn brown, I love you again"

    stupid racist commercial.

  • @HcOtaku1337 I agree man this is shameful!

  • Wooow.... terrible. Dark skin is beautiful lol Pale skin is also, but neither one of the other unless you look like really sick pale....

  • woah, that was some badass ring-wearing. imagine if this guy played frodo. imagine if this guy tried to wear a condom. no, wait, don't.

  • !!! This is waaay too fucking weird.. White women try to crisp their skin in the sun darker, dark women trying to coat their skin in crap to make it look lighter. Love your skin ladies no matter what shade!

  • What if its yellow?

  • @Rawru i know! the most beautiful thing is variety! :)

  • So if she marries the jerk and gets a tan after their wedding, he'll ditch her right?

    Sad.

  • lol, oh damn, its pretty USUAL. (me indian) and know whut, there are creams out for guys/men too now. dark skinned guy > ignored by girls> wishes he could be fair and blahblah> some famous actor appears outta nowhere, gives him this cream > and lo, the girls croon 'hi handsome hi handsome'. roflmao. whut dya think, its racist too? nahhh, people don't think about it much. people don't think about it at all.

  • Whoa. 0:12 Epic hair-whip.

  • fail tho. It didn't flow. She turned one way then the camera had he turned the other in the next scene. LMAO

  • Oh, you're right. I hadn't even noticed that. I was too blinded by the whip.

  • Unfortunately, Asian women wanting to look more white is a new trend. In China, some women get surgery to widen their eyes to increase their chances of getting a job. Since when did white become the ideal beauty?

  • is it worse than getting skin cancer?

  • I'm sorry, but what does skin cancer have to do with this...?

  • yes

  • AND TBH, the indian girl is way prettier than the white girl! I like the white girls dress though.

  • lol....they are both indian.actresses.

  • Fine then... "Light Skinned" girl.

  • I'm not saying this is racist, and i'm not saying i am racist, but honestly if a girl wants to make her skin whiter for pure vanity she has the right too.

Just like tanning cream, make your skin darker, seriously guys, its not racist.

And if that dude only loves a girl for her outside than the indian girl needs to find someone more worthwhile.

  • lol... this is apparently not disturbing to the people its been advertised to.... A.K.A India

  • the most racist thing since hitler

  • OMG.... dramatic hair flip = slap in the face.

  • wtf? we dont want mroe micheal jacksons...one was enough

  • WHAT THE FUCK ????

  • Ponds should be ashamed for this.

  • lol! he only wants her for her skin tone lol now thats a first. he cant like her cause shes too brown! lol

  • What? No! Don't drink and dial!

By the way, that is quite certainly the most dramatic hair-swish I've ever seen outside of a shampoo commercial.

  • Aw hell, I am speechless.

  • ofcourse Unilever. a british company

  • What a stupid racist ad. Women should be loved by who they are not for the color of there skin... Assholes....

  • ScorpionSlipknot: Do you think that ads for tanning lotions are also racist? Do you think that products that change hair color (bleach or dyes) and eye color (contact lenses) are also racist?

  • To my knowledge, ads for tanning lotions do not make women think that they're rejected and unloved because their skin is too dark.

  • believeinwhat: Ads for tanning products make people feel rejected because their skin is too LIGHT. In America, the phrase "Tall, dark, and handsome" is often used to describe attractive males. How often do you hear the phrase "Tall, pale, and handsome"?

When people use tanning beds, they become at risk for skin cancer.

  • Often, when people say "Tall, dark and handsome", they "tall, handsome man with dark HAIR".

  • FallenAngelIII: Thanks for the reply. I did a Google search, and you're right. The "dark" in the phrase "Tall, dark, and handsome" does refer to dark hair color.

  • No but you should see the first "episode" of these ads, then tell me what you think... I mean it gives me the impression that it's kinda racist... Sorry but thats what i think...

  • ScorpionSlipknot: I already saw the first episode. There's also an identical Pond's commercial with Asian actors titled, "Ponds white beauty full episode asian version," at this YouTube link:

    /watch?v=mVFKryCR8Jk

How can either of the Pond's commercials be racist when the people of India are the same race and people of Asia are the same race?

For thousands of years, Asians viewed whiter skin as more effervescent, childlike, erotic, or pure, and that is why Asian women strive for pale skin.

  • Oh, no.

  • Wow, did she really break off their engagement because he broke her nail? That must be one expensive manicure to be worth more than that gigantic ass diamond ring.

  • this is unbelievable! really! indians look fine the way they are..why give them such a useless complex? personally i hate being sickly pale..love some color on me when i tan etc..

  • Dark skin beautiful , I don't care what people say. Every skin tone is god given. it is not some random human who would make me feel bad about it.

  • LOL it's so shamelessly racist. HIGH FIVE, INDIA!

  • From Cracked, and still quite racist.

And what was wrong with that girl when she was tanner? She looked quite fine to me.

  • Fischerspoonraff - you're an idiot!

  • this man speaks the truth

  • this looks like a series of joke commercials' i mean...c'mon really?

  • No, it's an actual product.

  • hmm...what a world

  • "UGH, YOU BROKE MY NAIL WITH THIS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE ENGAGEMENT RING YOU WERE ABOUT TO BUY ME. SCREW YOU!"

    *storms off*

  • Do not slam the door lolz!

  • WTF!? XD

    thanks Cracked!

  • EPic!

  • from cracked

  • These commercial is horribly racist. I couldn't believe when I saw this on TV in India. Disgusting.

  • 0:13 is the woman turning left or turning right? lol

  • LOL
