  • Dude that is amazing fast. I upgraded my RAM to 8gig and I thought mine was fast... Next step is SSD I guess. Challenge accepted >:D

  • I really want to upgrade my computer with an ssd but they are really!!!!! Expensive i guess ill wait

  • is this SLC or MLC

  • SATA II or III?

  • I've been wondering for this for a while, does mac support TRIM with other SSD than apple's SSD now? I've got a MBP 13 mid 2010, can I buy a intel SSD 320 and dont worry about anything? Or does it still lack TRIM support and I've to expect slower performance in the future?

  • my macbook pro 13 2011 core 2 is way faster ssd ortex

  • you so have got the trial so when you can use a crack on it XD

  • do you have the high res screen?

  • Nice vid. You sound like Dan Aykroyd

  • WHAT EXACTLY IS AN SSD AND WHAT DOES IT DO AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • @SuperDuperTelevision ... are a new type of hdd compatible with sata ... no sound at all ... verry verry fast ... short to 0 latencyes (compared to hdd) ... shock ressistance and low power consumption ... hope haven't forgot any ... but verry verry high price per GB so ...

  • Hello i have The same model and i want to ask you something, i have the intel 320 120 GB SSD ,i am new with macs. So i want to ask you , how much space did the format cost you from unformatted ssd > format it , mine from 120.3 > 119.80 apporx, 228 MB.

  • I have the 250gb version in my new 2011 MBP with Lion. It is a SCREAMER. Everything is instant. I love it. I just wish I could have TRIM with it to take care of it...........

  • I loooove the featured food !!! Even though as I live in france we don't have the same product. It's still funny.

  • how fast are these ssd compared to the first gen 3Gbps? numbers say double but i doubt.

  • BSOD or any problem yet with your new Intel SSD??

    Thanks

  • so the 2011 mac pros do support sata 6 gbs?

  • WHat O.O 25 Minuts To Install ? O.O I Install Windows 7 in 5 mins of My Normal HDD O.O Very Very Slow Apple...

  • 24sec. seems pretty slow for ssd.

  • I used an #000 philips screw driver. I got it at sears. Works great but you need to hold it straight and go slow. #0000 would of worked much better but sears was out so I went with the #000 which has a slightly fatter head. #00 can strip the screws, do not use that.

  • Hello bro, just an suggestion. Because you already got high end parts on your lap, trust me on this one and install + 4GB ram then you will get the absolute best performance. I was skeptical at first like many others, saying its not worth it etc, but after i did the upgrade my pc feels much snappier.

  • those the macbook still get really hot with ssd

  • Comment removed

  • Really nice high-quality video. Very well presented, I think I could learn a thing or two from you!

    I appreciate the effort! :)

  • actually first start on adobe products is always slower, u should have recorded second start XD

  • he is so serious about the candy

  • I prefer a OCZ SSD. It has a faster read and write speed than Intel's and is around the same price margin.

  • @stealfz because they use sand force. However, they costs a whole lot more and are less stable in the long run as they do not support trim.

  • @blakecottington Stick me if I'm wrong but I've thought even the newest Macs aren't SATA III compatible. So what kind of speeds do you get?

  • i wanna speed demon sticker!!

  • This Intel 510 drive or the Crucial m4. (I'm waiting for Lion with TRIM.) There are problems with both of these drives and the 2011 Macs. I'm trying not to let that bother me. People say random read/writes will be noticed more for snappier boots and application load times. This leans me to pick the m4. On the other hand, the Intel drive has 34nm flash. It seems the random performance is terrible compared to other SATA III drives but this video shows it screaming. I'm not sure what to pick.

  • still running great?

  • thats a fast ass macbook pro

  • besides speed are there any advantages behind ssd? because I already own a fresh 500gb hdd that's really just sitting around and I don't want to spend extra money on an ssd if it's just speed enhancements.

  • @LogicThEncrypter ssd dont generate any sound, heat and also generally consume less power.. intel ssd's consume something like less than 1W when idle, so they may boost battery life for like 10%

  • @konttka I wow, I suppose that an ssd might be a wise investment.

  • Hi, brilliant video. How is the drive going, any problems? Also, why would you buy this over a similarly priced OCZ Vertex 3?

  • a gr8 video as usual

  • I'm a rookie in apple products. do you have to partition the new SSD before installing it into the mac? or do you just unbox it and put it in? my second question is which SSD should i buy for the new macbook pro 2011? SATA 3?

    thanks a lot!

  • would this fit into a 13,3' ?

  • @Ionjohn yep, they are all 2.5 inche ssd's

  • they wont only blow your mind... they l blow your soul!

  • Good video <3<3<3

  • hows that ssd been holding up? I got the same drive coming in tomorrow for my macbook pro.

  • the starburst is better then the macbook pro :D

  • I'm guessing you can install an SSD from any company?

  • @mcord21 as long as it is a 2.5' then yes.

  • I just subbed to You, nice videos!

  • @LaczupakabraPL Appreciate it!

  • @blakecottington can i put this in a late 2007 mid 2008 macbook pro?? because i would like to make my mac faster with ssd and ram

  • ive never heard someone quote Martin Lawrence so calmly

  • That thing is fast as hell ! app open at bullet speed. im going to get my mac book pro 17 for pro tools tommorrow that alot lol .

  • They're not that reasonably priced at the moment. For the average consumer these drives can be as much as a cheap computer. I'll be sticking with my standard hd until the price makes a serious drop.

  • @Treeman5744 Agreed, the average consumer might not buy a $200+ SSD right now. And, it's hard to ignore the price per gigabyte ratio compared to HDDs. If you can get over those things, I think it's an excellent way to upgrade a new computer, or breathe new life into something that's maybe just a few years old.

  • Where did you get the ssd? Do you now a good place to buy them.

  • @bballfreaksa I got it from buy dot com. Head to slick deals (no space) dot net and search for intel 510 to keep an eye out for a good buy. I got the $269 deal from March, but there may be better prices now. You may also find better prices for other brands. Good luck!

  • @blakecottington Thanks a lot I really appreciate you replying

  • @zjxlsyt Glad you liked it!

  • can you review it please? or do some other reviews on your macbook?

  • @D3V1lSAnG3l99 What kind of stuff do you want to see? No promises...

  • Nice Video i'm glad i Subscribed :)

  • @NisMoCats Thanks a lot!

  • Love this guy huts found him thank god

  • @Jredgrave128 huts?

  • @blakecottington Sorry it was late meant just

  • I LOVED the reference to Blue Streak––the thought of that scene had me in stitches! and great videos by the way, it really shows that you believe in quality of quantity =D

My new MacBook Pro should be coming in from FedEx sometime tomorrow with a 512GB SSD to boot! :P

    Keep up the great video-work.

    ––Christian, your newest fan.

  • @christian000thompson Thanks! I haven't seen the movie in years, but that scene always made me laugh. Congrats on the MBP. 512GB SSD... nice!

  • Nice video!

  • @evvann88 Thank you!

  • I made a good decision subbing to you...

  • @TheDailyWho Glad to hear it!

  • Torx 6

  • @earlbee31 That's it! I'll need to get myself a set of smaller Torx bits.

  • good vid man how much did it cost you and where is the best place to buy one for a late 2010 13' model?

  • @TheDuff69 I got it from buy.com for $269 USD a couple weeks back. Lowest price I have seen for this particular drive, I think. That said, if your MBP is the late 2010 model, you might want to consider a SATA II model, like Intel's X25-M series, as your computer won't support SATA III speeds. I believe you could still get a SATA III drive (like the Intel 510), it just wouldn't quite operate at its optimal speed. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

  • just a quick question. should I go for the ssd option when buying my macbook pro? or should I buy a 3rd party one. I heard the ssd from macbook pro is rubbish. Loving the videos. 1080p + Tech = porn

  • @SirQuacktastic I'm not sure what the specs are on the Apple drives. On the configure page it does not say the SSDs are SATA III. If they are SATA III, then $200 for a 128GB SATA III seems like a good deal at the moment, plus it would be under warranty and guaranteed to work. If you are going to get a 3rd party SATA III SSD, I would recommend at least searching for what other people are saying about SATA III SSDs and the new MBPs (not everyone is reporting success). Hope this helps!

  • Ssd is far to expenisve here in aus

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
