Hes doing the move wrong. NEVER keep you hed on the outside of the guy unless you wanna get choked.. Keep it on the inside so its more dificult to be choked
When being lifted up and put down in that manner, do you think it would be feasible to grab hold of the person lifting you by getting them in a head-lock, then if they fall backwards they probably won't be falling with as much force, and will be more likely to end up the worse for wear, or if they fall forwards, it may enable the person being put down to gain the advantage either by rolling the person putting them down onto their back, or just squeezing the neck of the lifter into submission?
@TheJocrozier It's best to use your arms to break the fall. Putting them in a headlock or choke would not stop them from slamming you the ground. Additionally...if you are hoping for a DDT...you better pray the guy lifting you is not good at takedowns.
@uc7mr4km oh yea no doubt on that. shooting for a double leg is very effective combined with a strike or in defense of a strike. but it still kinda sucks, i think a clench or body lock will produce a better position once on the ground and give you some more room to work with when standing up. but what do i know, unlike 90 percent of the people on youtube who are apparently fighters themselves, i am not, i am just a fan of the sport and state a simple and possible innaccurate opinion
@dcureman123 I like the single legs or the tree top or clinchs with double leg it relys too much on the element of suprise same with single but you can overpower your opponent more easily
@coopprouductions@coopprouductions same, it seems kinda unavoidable... do u know how to stop that? its the most natural defense of a take down to just rap your arm as tightly as you can around the aggressors head...
@coopprouductions When you shoot for singles its important to remember to always keep your head on the inside of your opponents body, not on the outside. Doubles can be done with your head on the outside though.
And then you could go for a craddle! Because you already have his leg, you could rap your arm around his arm and neck, bring your arms together, throw your legs back and use all your upper body weight on him and be on your toes for maximum weight.
ok everything is right about this. nice setup nice shot, but you should never put your hands on your opponents back finish the double leg and theres no need to lift your opponent just cut the corner hands stay on the knees and drive to the side.
@XANTtheGREATX1 If you are in good cage position lifting your opponent would be an unnecessary use of energy unless you slam the piss out of them (which also takes a toll on you), but it might be a good idea to pick your opponent up and carry them to your corner for easier coaching instruction.
@bigchunkaful Those are good backups for the slam, but it does take a toll on you like you said i would know i wrestle and cutting the corner is a lot easier on you then slamming and most likely slamming your opponent wont finish him, so then you would need to work your ground game, with cutting the corner you arent as tired and you can easily control the top position.
@XANTtheGREATX1 I fully agree and would advise against the slam, but it is a crowd pleaser and a show-off move. Joe Rogan goes bananas everytime Matt Hughes slams, so im sure a lot of guys will continue with it. There is alot to slamming so I would recommend not practicing the video advice of picking guys up and setting them down nice, just cut the corner.
it's inevitable, when you go for a double leg take down your exposed from the start, best thing to practice is keep your head tight to his hip, but like i said your still open for it. if they see it coming, it's going to happen.
when you going in for the double either try to raise your head towards his armpits or put your head as far away from his back, that way they wont be able to guillotined your azz

@JTBCP Your pretty tough behind a keyboard I see. People put a lot of great posts up with tons of technical points from experience and your gonna hate on them for it. Pretty Lame!

@kickbxingbboy x Inside and outside trips if you're the one locking. If you're getting locked, sometimes you can turn into it early and use some trips, but for the most part you gotta break that shit.
@kickbxingbboy It depends on the type of wrestling, freestyle is a little more leinient on slams than folkstyle. Technically you are supposed to contact the mat before your opponent with a knee or a hip, but it is pretty much up to the ref. I have seen guys dumped hard and the ref let it slide and I have seen guys called for soft takedowns.
oh wow this isnt just a great takedown to get into a position but also if ur fighting on the street that shits ognna hurt like a bitch gettin slammed full force on the concrete...that could actually end the fight right there sometimes.
what about the head? everytime i try to make that move i get into a headlock and also all other guys i train with... if you don't take care about the arms within the throw, you'll soon be in the headlock.
But you must remember that if it takes too long to do the technique the person you are training/fighting with, migth be able to grab a guillotine anyway:)
Before you shoot in change levels. You change levels and move in a forward motion with your head up and face forward. That way that can't get the choke. Make it all one fast movement.
i was practicing this the other day with a partner. and i found myself in a situation where he sprawled the takedown and i was stuck underhim.
we were still standing, both of my hands were still in the position to lift him but he had most of his weight pretty well balanced on my uper back. what am i supposed to do if i find myself in that situation?
Your hips probably weren't underneath his enough. When you get your hips underneath your opponent's, you can lift a hella lotta weight. Bend your knees to get lower and shoot your hips under his, then just stand up. If you're in the right position he'll feel light as a feather.
on the bottom you need to release one of your hands and overhook one of his arms that are resting around your body... ie your right hand comes back towards your hip overhooking his left arm above the elbow. Next you are going to slide your head to his right side (ribs area) and begin to look up at the same time moving your left leg out the same side and turning sort of on your butt... this is called a sit out and gives you an angle to reshoot or try to take the back...
