But as I said, these two games have nothing in common, there is nothing to compare. they have both different styles in theme, graphics, gameplay and story. It's a matter of personal taste, because who likes Indiana Jones-ish adventure prefers U2, and who likes space operas prefers ME2.

I prefer ME2 because it has a broader range of systems (yes I know it is out for the PS3) but it is also out for the PC which with the right computer running it will trump any console, but I digress, the real question is what a player is looking for and overall re-playability which ME2 definitely has. I don't know if U2 has that in the same respect.

mass effect 1 was better. While I admit this story is alot more action-packed and has a darker side to it since ur not in law-abiding space. but ME1 had way more selection in weapon availability. I hate how there's only 2 pistols 3 assault rifles and etc. and the lvling system is flawed. shepard reaches lvl 30 and gets 61 points to spend on skills. everyone else gets like 24 or 26 which means you cant max out all skills no matter how many play through. and the retrain research only does shepard
@FeigningTiger These things are all basically exactly the same as Mass Effect 1, haha. ME 1 had only one weapon of every type, which was the HMW X, four armors, which were Colossus X and Predator L-H X, you couldn't max out all skills and had about the same amount of active skills, you couldn't retrain anyone's powers, and now you can. Also there are 4 assault rifles in ME 2: avenger, vindicator, geth pulse rifle, revenant. There are as many different assault rifles as there were weapons in ME.
@themasteriswatching ok 1st off theres 4 assault rifles in game 1 of them is downloadable content and the revenant you only get one chance to pick up @ the collector base if you go through ur 2nd playthrough you'll realize in the collecotr base it wont let you grab a different weapon you either get widow the shotgun or the rifle. i chose widow cuz im better with sniper. you can only retrain shepard. which has little to no effect in overall gameplay especially in insanity.
@FeigningTiger No haha, avenger, vindicator, geth pulse rifle, and revenant are all in the game from the beginning. There is no DLC assault rifle. If you had played through insanity you would realize that there're four in the game. I have played through insanity, and I will tell you retraining is crucial in a NG+ insanity playthrough. As a soldier I focused on defense before Horizon and offense afterward. I have played through the game 4 times, I understand the mechanics, believe me
There were only four guns in Mass Effect. Every other one was just a swap of one of the two or three models with slightly improved statistics. They all behaved identically within a class. Anyway, you couldn't max all the abilities of teammates or Shepard in ME1 even at level 60, and teammates still got less points than you then.
@niftuCal while thats true you got a hello lot more usefulness out of the abilities as far as Me2 goes it limits whats availabl to you im sure it wud be better if you had acess to every weapon most are exclusive content (geth rifle, inferno armor. blackstorm, and etc) and in colector ship u choose either widow, revenant, or shotgun. and in 2nd playthrough u cant just keep getting them
nope, no way unfortunaly, you will have to start from level 1 again but if you have a level 60 person from ME1 you will start from level 5 instead of 1

@MrAlexanderXII look at when i posted the comment. it wasnt announced that it was for PS3 until a week ago. even so it shouldnt be ported to the PS3 without ME1 or its a stupid decision. its just BioWare trying to reap you of your money. the PS3 version even has severe cuts because ME1 is an important role in the game and without it they cant make it full. have fun with your broken copy since the xbox and PC versions are alot better

mass effect 1 was better. While I admit this story is alot more action-packed and has a darker side to it since ur not in law-abiding space. but ME1 had way more selection in weapon availability. I hate how there's only 2 pistols 3 assault rifles and etc. and the lvling system is flawed. shepard reaches lvl 30 and gets 61 points to spend on skills. everyone else gets like 24 or 26 which means you cant max out all skills no matter how many play through. and the retrain research only does shepard

@FeigningTiger These things are all basically exactly the same as Mass Effect 1, haha. ME 1 had only one weapon of every type, which was the HMW X, four armors, which were Colossus X and Predator L-H X, you couldn't max out all skills and had about the same amount of active skills, you couldn't retrain anyone's powers, and now you can. Also there are 4 assault rifles in ME 2: avenger, vindicator, geth pulse rifle, revenant. There are as many different assault rifles as there were weapons in ME.

@themasteriswatching ok 1st off theres 4 assault rifles in game 1 of them is downloadable content and the revenant you only get one chance to pick up @ the collector base if you go through ur 2nd playthrough you'll realize in the collecotr base it wont let you grab a different weapon you either get widow the shotgun or the rifle. i chose widow cuz im better with sniper. you can only retrain shepard. which has little to no effect in overall gameplay especially in insanity.

If you had played through insanity you would realize that there're four in the game. I have played through insanity, and I will tell you retraining is crucial in a NG+ insanity playthrough. As a soldier I focused on defense before Horizon and offense afterward. I have played through the game 4 times, I understand the mechanics, believe me

There were only four guns in Mass Effect. Every other one was just a swap of one of the two or three models with slightly improved statistics. They all behaved identically within a class. Anyway, you couldn't max all the abilities of teammates or Shepard in ME1 even at level 60, and teammates still got less points than you then.

@niftuCal while thats true you got a hello lot more usefulness out of the abilities as far as Me2 goes it limits whats availabl to you im sure it wud be better if you had acess to every weapon most are exclusive content (geth rifle, inferno armor. blackstorm, and etc) and in colector ship u choose either widow, revenant, or shotgun. and in 2nd playthrough u cant just keep getting them
