I just bought a pair today and after all of the reviews saying it squeaks and your video showing it I'm taking them back tomorrow. My whole life not ever buying Nike I pick a crappy Nike shoe. Thanks for the video and saving me embarrassment.
Just returned my 5 mo old air monarchs. They've been squeaking sicne after about month 2 or 3. They let me exchange it for a sweet brand new pair of...air monarchs. This pair will probably squeak eventually too :(
I found this in looking for other peoples' experiences with these shoes. They are amazingly comfortable, but they squeak horribly. I'll be trying the baby powder trick when I get home.
I'm glad I found this video, I thought it was just me.
These are Very comfortable sneakers, but I work in an office and when I come up I take the long way around everyone because the squeak is that bad.
The sneakers are defective, no doubt about that.
If I tear out the insole how I can turn them in for replacement from Nike, or should I just do the "baby powder" fix since another pair would just do the same thing. Pisses me off so much because these are the most comfortable sneaks I found.
@Frip36 Only 2 1/2 minutes. I could have gone on longer about the cheap slave wages Nike pays the people making the sneakers. In this case, it's Viet Nam, one of the poorest countries in the world. So, this is, apparently, why a 67 Billion dollar company produces a shoe that squeaks. For what they pay those people, they can....ad infinitum.
The video is 600% inaccurate. Googled the problem. (I've worn Nike "squeakers" for twomonths.)Bought a travel size ($1.6) Johnson's Baby Powder. Took out the insole from the offending shoe (No glue involved. Velcro-like). Poured decent amount of powder in the bottom. Shook the shoe left to right, front to back, until the entire bottom was covered with powder. Tilted the toe up so that excess powder powder collected at the heel. Dumped that out and replaced the insole. SQUEAK GONE!
It's crappy Vietnamese manufacturing using unskilled child labour. I had Nikes similar to yours and I couldn't exchange them so I threw them out and bought Adidas that are perfect.
Your Nikes are defective just like millions of other Nike shoes. Just Google 'nike poor quality' and before you finish typing those three words in Google search engine, you will get those words displayed. That should tell you something.
hi how are you i was curious if youd be able to pull the shoe apart for a video and show the air cushion inside i just bought the the monarch 4s and im curious what the air cushion looks like if your able to thanks
@misfitsization I can appreciate your wanting to know what's inside. I do also. But, I still use the shoes for work around the house and cutting grass. I just don't wear them anywhere in public. They still have a lot of wear left on them so I won't be taking them apart, for now anyway.
I have had the same issue. I first bought my first pair Monarch's back in 2003-04 and have since. In 2008 I started having the squeaking noise. I then bought New Balance. In the past x2 days, I wanted to these Nike's another go, called Nike customer service and it issue has not been addressed to date. Back to New Balance I guess.
@jjbau4802 Too bad about the Monarchs. I guess Nike changed something in the manufacture process around 2008. I'll have to look into the New Balance on my next sneaker purchase.
