I think the biggest problem is that you can't do subtle (1/4 and 1/2 step) bends. Look at how hard he had to bend the string to get a 1/2 to one step bend.
@88naka 'idiotic concept'? Then don't buy it. I wouldn't call it idiotic.. It's brilliant idea (albeit pricey for the average person). How exactly does it kill the tone?
Hmm.. SO I could spend 330 for a bridge that keeps my guitar in tune.. or about 90 for the best locking tuners on the market... Of course who wouldn't pick the bridge
@SaurianSoul And that's just buying the bridge. Unless you now how to rout wood very well and have the tools to do it you can expect another 200-300 dollars for installation. A strat is the easiest instal because it already has a back cavity for springs. However if you saw the amount of wood they had to remove to put this in a les or a tele you would never let them do it. they cut like 1/4 of the wood out of it.
@FitzysGuitar And that's just buying the bridge. Unless you now how to rout wood very well and have the tools to do it you can expect another 200-300 dollars for installation. it's not $330 dollars cool. I could buy a second used strat and swap guitars if I go out of tune for that much. Or even better just develop my ear and learn how to tune quickly for free.
@TheJaakk Yeah, and they make it a pain in the butt to change tunings or string gauges... I have an ESP LTD with a FR floating tremolo... I love the guitar itself, but I'm never going to have more than one floating tremolo guitar at a time... unless I have a guitar tech...
@TheJaakk No it doesn't.Get a Floydupgrades big block.I've got both fixed bridge and Tremelo guitars and I can't tell the difference sustain wise.It just takes a little longer to properly set up a floating bridge, then you are rocking.
just hate the thought of loosing string bending, or the next crowd of players not knowing how to alternate tune because a switch or dial does it for them.
@kernman2 some will some will stick to the old way, but what you need to think about robot tuning and evertuning is that it'll make your life so much easier when on a live show.
Ok, ok, ok. That's pretty cool. But! does it only work with standard tuning? What if you want to play in an open tuning or drop down? That would be more interesting to me.
@DistortedV12 there is nothing good about being out of tune. and changing to other tunings is as easy as using an allen key on the individual strings. it's not a hard concept. also i fucking hate tremolos so i don't care whether its got one or not
@rigorhead01 Because I just heard him demo it on a Strat on the video dumbass, and it sounded way too nasally just like a Floyd Rose, the traditional bridges are the way to go unless you just want a stunt guitar.
@StainIessChina So you can tell all that from watching a super compressed YouTube video? How about instead of name calling, you go practice your guitar and try to improve your ear, and quit trolling the internet bashing other people's products. Dumbass.
@rigorhead01 It sounds like you're the one who needs to train your ear, otherwise you'd know that compression doesn't make things sound nasally, I use a compressor all the time it just kind of puts the squeeze on your tone, I'm not bashing it I clearly said it's good for a stunt guitar but it's not something to be used in the studio, furthermore I wouldn't be calling other people trolls when your the one who's rude, vulgar, and unintelligent.
@Blizzard56k i imagine its just sorta an improvement to floyd rose designs minus the trem feature, and it wouldnt take long the spring can only componsate so much so 4-5 turns it would let you drop it to d :P i wouldnt let that turn you away from this , i must say if i owned a non floyd guitar id love to get one of these , because i have problems which my previous non floyds going out of tune while being carryed in say the trunk of a car
@crate718 i do not beleve so , reason being that, the springs in this bridge work by compensation , the issue is that as the trem bar goes down , at certain key points the springs going to try and hold the tuning its at , thus it would make doing trems hard , at least to do it properly. however ibanez is working on a floyd rose , that has a pivit point it always returns to , this will allow very accurate tuning , and slow the loss of tune, its not perfect but should lasts months without tuning
How can the bridge differentiate between tension increasing from an intentional bend or the tuning peg? Can you change to Drop Tuning without re-setting the bridge?
Genuinely cool. Do you think you can use these bridges with a strat-style tremolo bar though? If you do a divebomb won't it just correct the pitch? haha.
it seems like a cool product. it would've been great if i could have heard the guitar, and not a damn snare drum. But i don't blame the drummer, it 's guitar world that has never heard about micing an amp.
I want to see it plugged into a pro tuner like peterson or turbo tuner. why would they not demonstrate this with a tuner?
