Of course this is real! Can't you guys tell by the animation? And the recreation? This is legit, the character designs are exactly teh same as the game and so are the locations, sure the plot differs but what would be the point in remaking the anime with EXACTLY the same plot as the game? Why not just release a dvd of the cutscenes?

Well OoT is an Action RPG, so you can technically say it's a RPG.

I know a few RPGs that are better than TOS though (in my opinion). Suikoden, Skies of Arcadia, FFVII/IV/XII (well okay XII isn't better but it's still damm awesome), Chrono Trigger/Cross, Star Ocean 2, Phantasy Star Online, Terranigma, Lunar 2, Illusion of Gaia, Lufia 2, Crystalis.

Yeah those are all pretty darn good RPGs worth checking out for anyone who likes TOS.

I heard the sequel was better, maybe you should try and check it out. I never finished the first, I was stuck at a boss and my characters weren't strong enough to beat it. There wasn't enemies either to train them which is fail.

I think it would be a good idea to put up with turn-based combat like FF's because most RPGs use it. I noticed a higher number of recent RPGs are using realtime action combat but I'm not into it that much, no real strategy here...

FYI you get this kind of strategy even in realtime RPGs. Should I heal my guys or bail out for a while? Unleash a good Hunting Beast on Abyssion or wait for him to finish casting Meteor Strike? That's the kind of strategy I spoke of, and you get that even in FPS's. It's just that there's more time to think in turn-based ones and you can usually think ahead of what moves they'll do.

Btw I can hardly think of any RPG that has only Attack/Defend, even Mario & Luigi has more than that LOL

i think that in TOS, you have to be wise when activating/deactivating spells in genis´ menu, then, who to heal, who to attack, etc... that with action.. idk its my opinion...

It's my opinion, too. We've been talking about the same thing all along. Not to imply that I don't personally like games based off chess, but it's not the same thing. I think it all comes down to how many games someone played, only redundancy can really make one try and look for better/different games. That is, if you're willing to invest into video games at all.

Mario & Luigi was a slightly overrated game, though. Still good, but Paper Mario is way better if you ask me.

i know what you mean, its just that I prefer to actually have some control over my char and not just imput the commant, u know, like in tales of games, or zelda games, u actually use the dude and not tell him to attack, bah in tales of games you have to put it in auto to control him/her...btw ive never played paper mario but there´s a chance i get it for gcn, since Thousand Year Door is supposed to be the best paper mario

Oh yeah I suppose you're right. Issuing a command, waiting forever for your characters to complete it... hmm. But sometimes it builds up suspense. I guess that's the only thing I like about it. Take for example the ship battles in Skies of Arcadia. Easily the most intense fights I've had in all the RPGs I played. Realtime, on the other hand, doesn't allow that much suspense since it all happens so fast. So I guess both have their ups and downs.

And I'd recommend playing the N64 one first for two very good reasons. First, you can play it for free in a matter of minutes thanks to emulators (or buy on Virtual Console) and secondly, I think it's slightly better than TTYD. I liked the first one more because it had that fantasy and fairy tale vibe which TTYD doesn't have. TTYD has much more comedy and silly jokes, much like Mario & Luigi. Not a bad thing but it doesn't retain that "epic adventure" feeling you had while playing the first one.

Well personally I don't like him because he seems to be taken out straight from the most typical anime out there. It's a pretty cheap move aimed towards what we usually call wapaneses, I have to admit it even if I don't like using this expression. The whole story felt very bland to me compared to TOS1, they just milked the fanbase with Dawn.

Well, Skies of Arcadia, first released on Dreamcast, was ported to GameCube with bonus content. It's now called Skies of Arcadia Legends.

Oh I might as well just inform in case you're ever interested : Ys is for PC/Megadrive, Chrono Trigger is for SNES/PS1/DS and the Suikoden series spam over PS1 and PS2.

Well ToS is indeed a very, very good RPG with incredible art design and soundtrack but to me, the lack of an optional dungeon at the end is simply not forgivable, considering the storyline's length. I forgot to mention my top favorite RPG ever, Valkyrie Profile 2. Give it a try if you haven't already.

Ah well. Ys is a very good series who've been running for a long time. The best one has to be The Oath in Felghana. It's on PC and very easy to get, in case you ever consider giving it a try.
