my dog does this perfectly in the house and in the yard but as soon as we go out the front door.... CHARGE!!! She's driving me so nuts. I'm thinking about returning her. I've had her since February and her walking behavior seems to have gotten worse.
@Nosaltypeanut Cheese works well with my dog and a few other dogs i know, and whenever my dog starts to pull i just stop walking, he soon realises why and stops pulling, then reward him with cheese :) hope this helps :)
@YoshiB13 When I stop she comes back to my side but she's still very annoyed and whinning. The funny thing is what she's doing, works well with my dog in the house. I won't give up though.
@Nosaltypeanut yh, the best thing is to not give up and keep trying, give her treats or a peice of food she likes to make her feel as if its better with you, might stop her whining too ;) xx
I have an 11month old border collie and I just tried this. He's still hyper lol but it turned out better than I thought. I'll practice every day and make it work =]
Also, my border collie also likes to bite the leash at first!
nice training...:) but can anyone tell me how to train VERY playfull german shepard...:) my dog has 3 and half months and i want to train her to go on leash.i mean i dont want to pull her...i am trying this tehnic but its not working very well...dog has so much energy so i want to walk her so she gets tired and i know that she would enjoy that cause she is full of energy but firstly i have to teach her to walk on leash...when i put leash she tryes the bite it first...
My dog is so very well behaved but i can NOT get him to heel while my other dog heels almost instictively. Similarly my dog that doesn't heel also loves meeting people and dogs while the good heeler doesn't.
It seems that my dog loves meeting other people and dogs more than he loves food and even if i try to keep him from them, they will continue to approach. I not sure how to overcome this when trying to teach him to heel.
