What, Bing Crosby, WHAT? Don't you dare make me like the French language, just don't. It sounds like 'blleeehhhuuuu' to me. It isn't allowed to make me floaty just because its you.
Did Crosby have an accent? I can't notice it and I speak a little French. Anyway, who am I say to say so? I'm Brazilian, I speak Portuguese... with Brazilian accent, of course! (GILBERTO SAUGEN DO BRASIL)
Mais uma excelente interpretação, na voz maravilhosa de Bing Crosby, de um fabuloso tema musical ("La Mer"), também interpretado, de forma notável, por Charles Ttrenet e tantos outros artistas de renome internacional !
Agreed, this is an absolute gem of a song and to post it was fantastic. The king of the crooners shows his diversity here. I would love to sing an english translation of this version.
@petitfauvette Being in Bing's Fan Club, the International Club Crosby, and discerning international members often state that Bing's French is every bit as charming to the French ear, as Maurice Chevalier's English is to an American ear. I believe that. Bing tackled this where most would avoid it completely. Very charming--to this American ear.
So do I, I admit--being a Texan. But I love singing French music and do it whenever I can. I love the cultural exchange that happens when we learn and perform each others' songs.
Heavens to Murgatroid! Had NO idea that the late great Der Bingle has ever recorded this classic romantic ballad. I loved hearing it today for the first time. THANK YOU for sharing this gem with us! You've made my day & my week! :)
You need to put more tags on this. This is a hidden gem. If people heard this they would love it. Bing is in his element here, not because its in French, for hes an American Irishman, but because it is HIS patented style and his crooning here is flawless. Bing at his best here.
Unbelieveable - I am a huge Bing Crosby and Bobby Darin fan. This is the best find ever on the internet. I just had to sign up for Youtube and put this in my favourites in case it gets truly lost. Next step is to copy the recording and save as MP3 and put it on my MP3 Player.
Bing just got 100X more awesome.

Un excelente antante, lástima que Franck Sinatra le hizo sombra, pues los dos surgieron en la misma época.

@iconaclastor Beyond the Sea is the English counterpart to this song, though the lyrics differ quite a bit.

He is an amazing artist that will be rediscovered, only so much pants on the floor squawking the human race can endure.
