i think commander shepard dies so someone else takes his place. eg .( as an example, hence the eg.) his son or daughter takes on his mantle. due to certain scenes in the first one this is possible. therefore u get new stats and learn about the game all over again...

Character statistics DO NOT carry over into ME2. It's been confirmed. The only thing that's going to carry over is what characters are alive and your relationships with the characters.

Their probably gonna divide your stats so their about half or a third as powerful but keep the stats you eran in 2 at a full point.

I seriously doubt your level will carry over, that would just be too easy. It might effect certain aspects but it would be kinda boring if you start the game and can instantly kill everything. But who knows I might be wrong.

No, but if you kept your stats and they didn't want it to be too easy, they would have to increase the skill of your enemies, essentially evening it out to what it was before. Thats why I said they most likely wont carry over your level.

The original game wasn't like that, the enemies are scaled up to the players level. The only thing that made the huge difference was the weapons the player carried. It's still possible to be killed on the first mission if you start over your game and are level 60.

Actually the enemies scaling up with your level was a setting. I dont know about you but for me it was turned off be default. I didnt even know it was an option until my second playthrough.

Bioware made an official comment that it is imperative that you keep your saves from the first one, but if you never played it (really you should) I am sure there is a default story path to pick it up from

FYI, I had a ps3 the week it came out, the first models had the bigger memory (I can't remember how much it was.. I think 80gb?) and I bought it, realised they had NO decent games or any good upcoming games for months, so I sold it for £630 pounds (Some idiot bought it off my website) and I will never purchase one again. Biggest waste of £350 (or what ever it was back then) I have ever spent. Oh, and 360 have project Natal on the way and Sky, facebook and twitter are coming to 360. Point made.

My guess is that they will pull a Lucas (George) and the officaly accepted ending for the first game will be the good ending.

Or they could pull an obsidian and make the ending of the last game something you select through a conversation or during character creation while selecting a background and service history it could ask questions about recent events.
