  • First one is so right that no one could play the role like Brynner could, no wonder every revival with him was a sell-out.

  • I saw both of these productions and they were both incredible -- and completely different from each other. Thank you for sharing this wonderful (if all too brief) footage!!!

  • Why did Nureyev play the King? By the time he was in the revival, the show was already a hit, so why did the producers feel the need to cast a white man in the role of an Asian man?

  • @cbiswhite technically, Nureyev was mostly a Tatar on both sides so technically he was Euro-Asian, not a Siamese on any account but neither was Chow Yun Fat

  • Yule Brenner - what a wonderful actor and it was absolutely fabulous to see him in person in this play!

  • I like the 1977 revival commercial better i even got to see Yul brynner 2 years ago in the 1956 film adaptation of the Rogers and Hammerstein Musical after seeing a little bit of a production from MTW at the Carpenter at Cal State long Beach for an invitational field trip 3 years ago

  • YULE! *cries* RIP

  • OMG, that last commercial is TERRIBLE! LoL, it seems to exploitative!

  • @ItalianDivo101 Yeah, it's like, "Come see the show or 12 children will cry."

  • :DD!

    my favorite show ever.

i wish it was still playing.

  • Thanks so much!!!
