With this kind of documentation, why was the local humane society not contacted to forcibly remove the dogs and possibly stop the woman from getting more? I thought all cities had some kind of animal welfare department now.
I heard about Leeny when BRAT first got her. How very sad for these 2 babies. I just want to hug my 3 basenji boys and let them know I'll do everything I can to stop this from happening to another basenji. I feel sad for their owner too. I'm just happy BRAT got involved and is helping! May their days ahead be rich with love, tender care and lots of food!
mine got bowel cancer and looked a lot worse than that when we put him to sleep. his head was still good but his hips were like handlebars when they used to be round. he was 13lbs and used to be 40 and he could hardly stand it was so sad and he was only 6 years old. i loved that little dog
I cant stop crying! This is one of the sadest things I've ever seen! I've always wanted a Basenji...I just can't see how somone could to somthing like this to an innocent little dog...:o(
omg how sad... i would beat the crap out of the persons responsible... how can someone be so cruel .... man i'd like a shot at them.... they deserve terrible punishment.... i cant imgine they are a good person in any part of thier worthless life. SORRY this makes me ANGRY at people.
i know it is hard to see what someone's mental state can cause them to do but unless we try for understanding and compassion and learn we are all destined to lose out. Please try and have comapssion for the woman. I have had post partum depression and it gave me an insight into this issue and thsi woman does not deserve a beating.
I understand that the lady had a mental breakdown and wasn't of sound mind, but GOD. I have a Basenji and this breaks my heart, too! I love my Basenji. Watching videos like these and shows like Animal Cops on Animal Planet just make you wonder, what kind of people could do such things to dogs? Or to any animals, for that matter.

I saw that in the info section that the owner wouldn't release them and they were taken out of foster care and are back in the home...have animal control go in there and take them, she is neglecting them, it is animal cruelity!! I will take them!!
What a sad story. I am fostering a basenji whose case was not as tragic but had to be rescued. He had the opposite problem of too much attention and too much food. I hope these two find a happy new home and good rest of their lives.
Id go rescue them from the basement a second time right now if only I knew where
